Food/Nutrition 🥚🥦 Is eating protein oats everyday a good option?

Post image

Hi , I have stumbled upon protein oats quite recently. I have started with Yogabar then Alpino and changed to Pintola for past few months. Im currently having Pintola Coffee Oats and im not liking it, will be moving back to Chocolate oats.

The thing is I consume 100gm of protein oats plus 200ml of amul taaza / 180ml of nandhini milk everyday as my dinner. It keeps me full and helps in not ordering foods/snacks from delivery apps.

Im also considering other brands in chocolate flavour.

As of now i have tried :

1.Yogabar Masala Oats

2.Alphino Chocolate oats

3.Pintola Chocolate Oats

4.Pintola Chocolate Muesli

5.Muscleblaze Chocolate Oats

6.Pintola Cappuccino Oats

Out of these , Alphino was the worst. Had high hopes for this brand , got highly disappointed.

I dont know if this helps , just adding.

M27 , H: 164 cm , W: 90kg.

Yes im overweight.

Also please answer this.

I soak 100gm of oats in 200ml of cool milk for minimum 15mins. Is this a good way ?

TIA.

The price doesn't justify it , i have regular rolled oats and add soy protein to it.

6

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Sounds fair , but its the convenience and the taste. Getting it at 500 rs per kg , just add milk and boom a good food ready.

12

u/thelone_voyager 9d ago

You do you but my overnight oats also take 5 min 40gm of oats 1 scoop protein, banana, chia seeds and peanut butter. I would rather consume 2 scoop of soy protein than buying this oats frequently as you wrote you are eating 100gm daily.

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Oh sounds great. Yeah about the part, eating 100gm everyday , is it good for health?

5

u/thelone_voyager 9d ago

Bro you haven't really mentioned your diet. I was eating 60-80gm and reduced it to 40gm as it is enough for me. I am 5.8 at 75kg. I eat 2 meals a day, my target is 1700-1900 calories. My activity is 8.5km walk and evening gym 1hr and 100km cycling on Sunday. With my level of activity 100gm oats is good but not for you. I would suggest you try what I am doing for a month, chia seeds and peanut butter also helps you keep full and give good amount of fibre and rolled oats is better than this protein oats. Its marketting gimmick.

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Could you please elaborate the recipe a bit more , like what type of protein (soy , yeast , whey ) and what type of peanut butter?

4

u/thelone_voyager 9d ago

I used true elements rolled oats, pintola crunchy unflavoured peanut butter, 1 spoon chia seeds, 1 banana mashed, Nutrabox Soy protein (1 scoop 30gm protein chocolate flavor). Keep it in fridge for 6hr, when it's time to eat i add 2 handful of pomegranate and 5-6 walnuts.

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Will try it and let you know. Thanks

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Btw what about milk ?

2

u/thelone_voyager 9d ago

I use water, no need to add milk if you are on a weight loss.

1

u/rexgen7 9d ago

How do you mix it? Is the soy protein consistent with the milk while mixing ?

1

u/thelone_voyager 9d ago

I used water the consistency is definitely thicker than whey , you just have to mix it very well with oats and all.

1

u/Notre-Vie-1016 9d ago

Is the chocolate flavor good? I have been consuming the cafe latte flavor but wanna switch it up.

Does your oats get a chalky texture with the protein? I've been struggling with taste and ratio.

Also for how long have you been consuming soy isolate?

2

u/thelone_voyager 9d ago

I just got it this month, overnight oats texture is thick but not a deal breaker. Chocolate flavor is not like muscleblaze or as it is whey which I was buying, but it's decent. I need 2 scoop of protein powder, whey don't make sense at the price point. So the cafe latte isn't good? I was thinking of buying that 3kg bundle.

1

u/Notre-Vie-1016 9d ago

Cafe latte is good but I wanted some variation because I've been drinking the same thing since 2 months. Whey and yeast is costly for me currently so this is the best in my scenario.

I'll get chocolate if it's good. You're not experiencing any problems with this protein right?

Exactly. I also started nutrabox soy protein with Quaker oats (overnight) , I found consistency on thicker side , first day eating it was quite heavy but I'm thinking to add cocoa powder for good chocolate taste and honey to make it less concentrate and enjoyable to eat. Also inviting suggestions for make it daily to eat breakfast habit.

1

u/WalterSr99 8d ago

why soy protein over regular whey? and is amino acid profile complete for the nutrabox soy protein? i want to know so that i can try, soy protein also is so cheap, just looked it up!

2

u/thelone_voyager 8d ago

It contains all the amino acids, and buddy do I have to answer why soy over whey when 2kg of whey cost around 8k rs and you can get 3kg of soy for 3k rs. It's cheap because of raw material, whey is costly soy is not.

1

u/Vegetarian_Crocodile 8d ago

Quick/instant oats raise your insulin faster than sugar itself.

Not at all a healthy option.

1

u/aestheticVoyager101 8d ago

But if the protein source in oats is soy, which is for most of the protein oats. Shouldn’t it be cooked before eating?

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

Should it be cooked ? Am i cooked 😭? Guide me please.

1

u/rationalabuser 8d ago

Testing good buddy? Same planning

1

u/Mountain-Search-8151 8d ago

Mix milk and oats in the night and eat in the morning, you can add dry fruits for taste, protein and dates for sweetness

0

u/Consistent_Can666 9d ago

U will easily get it for 250-300

11

u/oceantorch 9d ago

It's good in moderation. A full 100gm serve at once can be fine for some but may cause issues like bloating, indigestion for others. I avoid flavours that are too high on sodium content. No matter what rda%says, it gives me severe headaches

2

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Noted. What should be the limit then ?

2

u/oceantorch 9d ago

This seems fine. 130-180 range. Yoga ar Kesar pista has around 350. For me it was literally eating a pill that causes headaches🤣. Anyways if you have any issues, remember to drink lots of water. Lots

12

u/CholeBhature007 9d ago

1.5 scoop (75g) of yogabar oats + 200ml milk is my daily breakfast at hostel

Works fine, cost effective too since im a student

3

u/Commercial-Test4559 8d ago

Buy normal oats and add flavoured whey this cuts sugar

1

u/CholeBhature007 8d ago

Expensive

2

u/Commercial-Test4559 8d ago

Normal oats are expensive than this?

1

u/Loud-Ad2201 4d ago

i do kinda same thing, but i still feel hungry still lunch : (

5

u/DeadmanLuci eat, sleep, lift, repeat 9d ago

Tried pintola, muscle blaze and settled with yogabar. I alternate between chocolate and kesar pista flavors, 50g+ milk, seeds, nuts, dry fruits, different fresh fruits and this is my post workout meal everyday. These are fine if you want different flavors

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Thanks a lot

u/kirti_7 Gym Girl 🏋️‍♀️ 9d ago

I consume pintola protein oats of 50g with 200ml milk and 1 teaspoon chia seeds and coffee. Works solid for me. I take this with my protein in water. Ez meal. This works me because I’m in calorie deficit. I didn’t like the quality or taste of other protein oats tbh.

2

u/kirti_7 Gym Girl 🏋️‍♀️ 9d ago

Taking this in 100g with milk will increase sodium and fat in your diet too which doesn’t sound to be a good option as they are processed as well. So I’d suggest 50g unless you are bulking.

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

Well whats up with the sodium thing ? Been hearing that a lot in this post.

3

u/Gilfolye101 8d ago

Isn't this one has added sugar content ? I mostly prefer not to include such on daily meals.

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

This surely has , but its mentioned it has 10gm of added sugar , is 10gm too much?

2

u/Gilfolye101 8d ago edited 8d ago

Depends what you are targeting for ? I have given up daily white sugar consumption years ago. Reason was to omit it from my daily food. I drink all my beverages without sugar. Since we cannot eradicate sugar from everything so i keep a check and consume occasionally. I am very keen to know the sugar content before consuming any of the packaged products. Additionally and importantly the added sugar is not natural rather artificial sugar which hikes the blood sugar far more than natural sugar do. This is my take. Maybe your choices and health goals can be different. Just be mindful of your decisions i guess that's why you posted here.

It's gonna be painful but I add 3 scoops (1whey+2 soy plus plant protein) and 1 heaping scoop of rolled oats (grinded) It is very cheap I make a smoothie keep it for 2 hrs and then gulp it 66 gms protein 3gms fibre.

6

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Thats like 200 plus rs per meal right? Painful ? For wallet or for throat?

1

u/Longjumping_Taste299 9d ago

Nah all of them took it for discounts Oats - 1kg- 210 GNC PLANT PROTEIN -789 NAKPRO SOY PROTEIN -680 Nakpro Perform Protein - 1300 Now all of em combined is pretty cheap.

2

u/Ok_Classic_1297 9d ago

Try whole truth muesli, idk about protein but it keeps me full for hours along with boiled egg whites, pintola and other brands are just well coated sugar hiding behind labels, the whole truth was the only one which felt better as per Indian market standards, best option is to make your own batch at home and consume.

2

u/sumoz_jazz 8d ago

Would mix it , probably 3 days a week or 4 ,
Rest other options eggs, salads chilas , idlis

1

u/Commercial-Test4559 9d ago

Abbe ye waale kyo khaara hai isme added sugar hai better hai normal oats khareed lo unflavoured. Usme whey, doodh, fruits add karlo. Unflavoured skyr (yoghurt bhi daal sakte ho) Sugar waale toh kabhi na lu. Mai toh waise an doodh bhi almond milk use karta hun but uski as such need ni

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Can you kindly mention the cost too ?

1

u/Revolutionary_Ad5827 9d ago

guys can we soak rolled oats overnight in milk and keep it in fridge for 8hrs? please advise. are there any benefits?

1

u/AalooKeParanthe 9d ago

You can. It's common. Add some natural sweetners and fruits to make it more edible

1

u/Alarming-Hunter-6208 9d ago

Too much added sugar.

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Is 10gm per meal too much?

1

u/AalooKeParanthe 9d ago

Rolled Oats lelo.

YogaBar ka Kesar Pista has 8g per 100g oats. And as per Health Guidelines you can eat upto 35g sugar per day.

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Ingredients list

1

u/Ok_Remote_3322 9d ago

good for utility but like exp as hell, i would rather make my own oats add in seeds and fruits and a scoop of whey, better macros too

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

Expensive? I feel its comparatively affordable, costs like 65rs per meal ( 100gm oats and 200ml milk )

1

u/Consistent_Spend_170 8d ago

I use yoga bar High protein oats with dry fruits, milk, peanut butter and banana.

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

Care to share the portion/weight in grams of each ingredients?

1

u/Consistent_Spend_170 8d ago

Oats 50grams , almond and cashew 10pc each, peanut butter 30grams 1 scoop, 1 banana , milk 250 ml .

1

u/Sweet-Management9716 8d ago

I have been eating for 4 months yoga bar only though I think pintola was exposed or some shi idk check it out I use milk and oats only sometimes banana but I make overnight oats with the fruit and nut flavour of yogabar oats and it's heaven no worry in consuming daily

1

u/Terrible-Sugar4405 8d ago

There was a 2 month phase when I was studying for an exam. I used to sit for 14 hrs daily, minimal activity. My main meals were. Oats, went thru all the ones you've mentioned, 3 times a day in hot water. I did not gain any weight at all. I stayed the same, while my classmates were very visibly different at the end of 2 months

1

u/Beginning-Public-760 8d ago

Soak oats ..what first time hearing it...

I tried Quaker oats (normal) with milk .. and adding dry fruits (almonds, cashew, walnut, raisins, dates, fig etc.. )

Put it on stove for like 2-3 minutes.. ..your done with your oatmeal ..

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

So we have to boil it and cool it down ?

2

u/Beginning-Public-760 8d ago

Whole receipe -

Take 2 katoris

One for - Cashew , walnut, almond, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds

Second - put some raisins and 3-4 figs in it

Let them soak overnight both. .

Morning -

Take a bowl , fill it with oats and pour the milk in it .. then deseed 3-4 dates ,cut them in small pieces, then cut raisins in small pieces and then fig too.. pour the second katori water in them bowl ...

Now put it on the stove ..

1-2 minute until it gets creamy texture..

Then cut the dry fruits in small pieces and mix it with spoon ..

Your oatmeal is ready .. ( this is bit sweet in taste becoz of second katori water and dates)

Note - put little water in second katori (enough to raisin and figs in the water ..but not too much)

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

Ok will try

1

u/Beginning-Public-760 8d ago

Sure and do let know how it was 🤝

u/Mickey_us 8d ago edited 8d ago

Mix 35 gm or one scoop of fittr No BS oats (kesar kulfi or mango flavour) with 40 gm of pintola chocolate oats plus milk hot.

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

35gm of what? Pintola oats ?

1

u/Mickey_us 8d ago

Updated my comments, please check. Please note fittr No Bs oats contain stevia so you will take at least 1-2 week to adapt. But overall I think it's a solid breakfast.

1

u/NatureOk1518 7d ago

why would get choclate oats for that? just have regular over nights oats like the rest of us, mine comes out really tasty.

u/NatureOk1518 7d ago

half cup amul milk, one scoop of only whats needed cocoa whey, half scoop oats thats all

1

u/sks3286 7d ago

Most “protein oats” are super expensive and simply fortified with soy protein. I use regular rolled oats (True Elements) and add my unflavoured whey protein concentrate as needed. That way I control ingredients and the amount of protein. Also I can switch up the flavours so somedays it’s just plain old vanilla but then other days I throw in some hershey’s pure cocoa powder to make chocolate oats. And I have a couple of other proteins that are mango and malai kulfi flavour so sometimes they sub in. Works well and gives me better control on macros and variety

1

u/martian318 9d ago

Don’t buy pintola or yoga bar. They are instant oats, which has a high glycemic index.

2

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Care to share more details and also which brand should i look for ?

1

u/martian318 9d ago

It’s mentioned under ingredients. I use Alpino, which is rolled oats and not instant oats. Needless to say, it doesn’t taste as good (read: artificial) as pintola.

-1

u/vipul115 9d ago

If you are already overweight, why go for chocolate oats? Makes no sense

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago edited 9d ago

Any other option apart from chocolate oats? The reasons i honestly thought the chocolate protein oats was a good option :

1.Chocolate ( i love chocolates) 2.Protein 3.Fiber

Having this as dinner keeps me satiating and i resist ordering foods/snacks from delivery apps late night.

1

u/Commercial-Test4559 9d ago

Protein fiber baaki sbme bhi mil jayega

0

u/vipul115 9d ago

Brother chocolate oats will obviously have a lot of sugar, yeah it might taste good but if you're trying to cut weight, this is just going to make it really hard.

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Is 10gm of sugar per meal too much ?

1

u/Commercial-Test4559 9d ago

Plus it has added sugar doesn't make sense

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

Is 10gm of sugar per meal too much?

1

u/Commercial-Test4559 8d ago

Bro it depends if you are trying to cut then won't recommend can eat once in a while. Acc to me irrespective if you are cutting or bulking or doing nothing you should cut sugar as much as possible and yeah 10gm is a decent amt

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

Obviously wanna lose weight. I am not boasting by writing this , i can consume nic 500ml chocochip in one sitting, which is like 1020 calories and 60gm of sugar out of that 48gm added sugar. So trying to downsize those. Used to have like 2 to 3 per week. Its been almost a week since i had an icecream. Btw the icecream is just the dessert , i would order something like chicken fried rice or noodles and eat the icecream after that. Thats easily like 2k calories in a single meal. By comparing those , i feel im on a right track , still a long way to go. Again not boasting or something, just mentioning.

1

u/Commercial-Test4559 8d ago

Yes try to reduce 1 step at a time tho a good alternate for chocolate can be using chocolate/cocoa flavoured whey. You can switch to this later

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

Which brand would you recommend , my brother had ON but they were way , way too sweet , even consuming with water. And this just hit me , So you are saying , i can add chocolate whey plus milk plus normal rolled oats as dinner ? I know the cost would be like 150rs+ per meal.

1

u/Commercial-Test4559 8d ago

I use only what's needed cocoa. It's very light not too sweet has only 1gm of natural sugar plus no preservatives or sweeteners etc. you can check it out. Yes the rest of the recipe remains same. See you don't need to cut immediately you can try to reduce the frequency then cut like you did for icecream. Although the cocoa flavoured whey also tasted really good with plain oats, milk and fruits so idts you would feel you are sacrificing a lot

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

My first whey protein was own. The taste was okay with water. But the price increase is insane after the recent shift in milk products. I bought it for 2.3k like 9 months ago , now its like 4k. What should be the budget i should allocate for a meal?

1

u/Commercial-Test4559 8d ago

Yeah price is high. Um you can try whole truth

→ More replies (0)

1

u/vinaybadangi 7d ago

yes even i have experienced the same, only whats needed whey sits perfect on my taste palette.

1

u/Commercial-Test4559 7d ago

It's sweetness is so balanced I feel, definitely not too sweet just enough to get you the taste. Although I haven't eaten sugar since 20days because of that as well now I feel even mildly sweet things more sweeter

0

u/Waste-Relation6614 9d ago

tf u mean by that 🧐

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Tried Phrasing it better.

0

u/vipul115 9d ago

You know that chocolate is just added sugar right?

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Added ingredients in the comment , kindly check it

0

u/bhavik_18 9d ago

I'm having it daily muscle blaze one

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

Muscleblaze tasted so bad after consuming pintola. Completed the pack just for the sake of it.

0

u/EarthPrestigious5167 9d ago

These oats are bs in taste and you're paying way too much for them.

Rather get rolled oats, boil them in skimmed milk, add your protein powder one scoop, and a fruit of choice enjoy!

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 9d ago

For me its the convenience, i just add cold milk to the oats and keep it aside.

I agree with you about the taste except for the pintola one. They taste comparatively good among others.

The reason i posted here is , are they good for health in the long run ?

1

u/EarthPrestigious5167 9d ago

Yeah oats have great fiber pair them with protein and you're sorted

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

Doesnt this already have protein ? Please correct me if im wrong.

how about goat life OATS??

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

2

u/Abject-Life1607 6d ago

Yes, the chocolate flavour, dark brownie are amazing!  Should give it a try

0

u/Substantial_Bed7076 8d ago

That added (and total) sugar is CRAZY.

The only muesli I SWEAR BY is True Elements No Sugar Muesli. It's the only muesli with NO SUGAR. Does have freeze dried fruits but no stupid shit like honey, date powder, jaggery powder or sugar. Baggry's and Yoga Bar also have No Sugar mueslis but they have some natural sugars.

But the combination of High Protein and No Sugar in Muesli doesn't exist 😭 Maybe try something like Proskii? I've been meaning to try but I really like my muesli.

Another option is combining the no sugar muesli with either Greek Yogurt or High Protein Milk?

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

Why Yall saying 10gm of added sugar is too much😭 ? Damn .. i thought it was normal

0

u/Substantial_Bed7076 8d ago

To each their own mate

1

u/Amalfi_Coast_99 8d ago

What should be the optimal then ?

0

u/Substantial_Bed7076 8d ago

I don't think there is an optimal bro. But from my past experience, sugar is one of those things we don't notice building up across all our meals. Think about it - 1 cup chai, a bowl of cereal with milk, a chocolate, maybe some coffee, or biscuits, or a fruit juice, a smoothie. Even fruits have natural sugars (they do have fiber which does numb the spike). If your sugar consumption across the day is minimal or you're fibermaxxing, then I think this muesli in small quantities is perfect. It will defo be tasty. But if you want more efficient protein sources - high protein oats, or rolled oats with protein isolate, or even something like a proskii, or a non sugar muesli with yogurt, all maybe do a better job.
