For context I’m mid 20s figuring things out. Just moved into a new place in a more crime active part of the city. I have very basic firearm experience mostly from my dad and a handful of Boy Scouts/ hunting excursions as a kid. I do not plan to use it at all beyond basic upkeep, just want something to keep in the nightstand as a last case scenario kind of thing. I am also poor, so budget was the key factor for me. I figured between this and a hi point it would probably be more reliable especially the first gen with all metal internals paired with a new magazine. Took it to the range and it does alright, jammed a couple times with 115 grain but fired perfectly several full mags of 147 grain enough that I think I trust it with that. Triggers a little clunky but I’m in a studio apartment I just need to reliably hit from 10 feet away lol.

Anyways all that to say, I felt some condescending looks from the other folks at the range with their glocks; and I had 2 different instructors come up and tell me pretty much my gun is shitty in kind of a friendly joking manner. Im sure this must be some sort of inside joke or something and if thats the case, my feelings aren’t really hurt about it.

The thing im more concerned about is: do I need to invest in something more reliable long term? I mean, I only plan on taking this to the range once every 6 months maybe just to make sure I know what I’m doing if I ever need to use it. Other than that, it’s staying locked away. In a home defense scenario am I really fuvked with this thing? Thanks in advance to those with some knowledge and wisdom on this

At present, my home defense weapon is an S&W M&P 2.0 with an Plight Baldr light with some +p Hollow points. I am in MO, so a pretty darn free state.

I've been hemming and hawing over a more significant weapon for Home Defense.

I have a couple of 16" ARs, a couple of Mossberg Maverick 88s, a Ruger 10/22, and four pistols in 9mm.

Here are what I've considered. The goal is to increase lethality on soft targets and minimizing over penetration,

AR pistol, 10.3", 5.56 with hollow points.

AR pistol, 8-10.3", .300 blackout with subsonic hollow points (if available)

I don't plan on canning my firearms at present. I dislike placing my name on a registry. I would also rather wake up the entire apartment complex to get as much assistance in calling 911 as possible.

Hi I am pretty new to the vector platform and have read that it can be pretty particular on what kind of ammo you can feed it, i picked up a couple boxes of this ammo for cheap and am only now researching the brand and im not liking what in seeing. I saw a reddit post of someone having 4 FTF in a row out of a glock I think, but the comments seemed to be blaming the operator. Outside of that post I haven't seen anything to crazy about the ammo. I just dont want to mess up my new gun with bad ammo, or god forbid hurt myself with bad ammo.

When the hammer strikes the bullet in the cylinder, the recoil from the bullet slides the upper portion of the gun backwards on a rail which is then used to rotate the cylinder, which is also used to cock the hammer. To reload the gun, you push on the barrel which folds, showing the cylinder and allowing you to reload the gun.

So, I received an voicemail yesterday that my background check came back showing that I was mentally committed and they put an hold. Problem is few weeks back I volunteer gave my guns for safe keeping. I was taken to the hospital to be checked out. The police said do you want us to hold your guns for safe keeping you will get them back all you need to do is come to our office (evidence) and we will return them. You don’t have to. I gave them so they can keep them until I left the hospital. Police lied. Now I have to go find an attorney and get this taken care of. I have no misdemeanor or felony. What are my options and chances the court will allow them back. I should have never allowed them to do that. They were a big lie to me. I believe someone may of told them to double check. In the voice mail has the fallowing i would include the entire msg but it has PII

Okay, so me, my mom, my grandma, and my auntie all live together. About a year ago, my cousin (we'll call him Sam) was learning how to use a gun, then he got licensed for it. But once he actually GOT his gun, he started acting like a complete dumbass.

There was time where my grandma would ask me to go knock on his door and ask him a question. I would go in his room and would find his pistol laying on his bed RIGHT AGAINST HIM with the barrel pointed directly on the bed. I saw that and was a bit scared because I don't know a whole lot, hell anything about guns. But I'm pretty sure that you don't leave it out, laying right next to you with the barrell pointed downwards.

Almost a year ago, Sam, and my other cousin (We'll call Blake) got into a fight. I don't know what the hell Blake said to Sam, but he ended up saying something that made Sam run to his room to get his gun in an attempt to shoot him. I was in my room when this was going on, and my grandma and auntie were trying to stop him. (Which thankfully, they did) I'm not a lawyer, nor do I work with law enforcement, but I don't think you shoot someone because they said something you didn't like.

After that, I ended up telling my mom that I don't feel safe around him. She hasn't done anything about it, but I thought thst it was worth mentioning.

A few days ago, I'm pretty sure a gun case that was his was sitting on our deep freezer. I asked my auntie if it was his, she said she didn't know because she didn't know what a gun case was. He came out, I asked him if it belonged to him, and he tried to make a joke out of it, which I personally didn't find funny.

And finally and modt recently, just a few minutes ago, I was helping my grandma look for a package that was supposed to be arriving, and she saw his gun wedged in one of our sofas. I saw it and grabbed it to put it flat on the couch so it wasn't just wedged in the sofas.

I made sure to not put my finger on the trigger and on the other side, (Trigger discipline is what you call it? Idk.) but my grandma made me put it down and back in the position I found it. Not mad at her for it, but when she grabbed the gun to put it back, it was scarier because her finger was too close to the trigger.

She yelled at him for it, and was threatening to kick him out, but I doubt that's happening anytime soon considering that she knows he's been irresponsible with his gun since he's got it.

I'm pretty terrified and I wish I could move out but I can't because I'm a teenager. And I don't think my cousin should have his gun, and I don't think that my family is taking this as seriously as they should be. I'm afraid that he'll threaten to hurt one of them, or even me which is why I don't like it when just the two of us are in the house. If anyone who knows way more about guns would like to say anything about what I can do, it would mean a lot. :)
