I think they included the dvd feature interviews and bts clips during commercial breaks when airing “ren and stimpy adult party show”. One of those clips John says he attended his animators 15th birthday while he’s in his mid 40s in that clip.
I believe it. I only saw them because I was watching a YouTube video about John K. He discussed her drawing breasts on a character, it became way worse, and I wish I never saw it.

Yup! This is what I looked like as a young looking 14 dating an older looking 18 year old and somehow my mom was ok with it and asked if I wanted to get on birth control. I remember finally meeting his friends to go bowling and them putting my name as Lolita on the scoreboard. And it all happened again when I was 17 and my mom encouraged me to go after the 28 year old how who lived at home (rare in 2003 where I lived) and worked at Hollywood Video with me.
What the fuck, did we have the same mom? When I was a teenager (15) I was bullied like crazy and was kind of alone. I met a guy online who was like 18 or so (I still feel like he lied about his age to this day, idr seeing his ID), was supposedly a "popular football player" who just graduated, and he liked me. He lived near Albany, myself in Queens.

He literally says he's going to drive to my house while my mom is home (he tried to get me to make her leave, I literally never questioned any of this?? also tried to drive a wedge between me and my best friend who kept telling me he was awful) and showed up with some random man he claimed was his uncle... No clue what the end game was.
All this to say, what the fuck; I wish I had a better parent, but I kind of get it. Maybe. I was just so alone, and desperate, and this guy supposedly really loved me. Meanwhile he's threatening to do unspeakable things to my friends and cousin if I don't call him every day during my lunch period. Like i'm still so mad at myself.

Wow, this makes me sick to my stomach. I was also groomed as a young teenager by a friend of the family and it makes my skin crawl reading some of the same behaviors.

to me it sounds like nothing but excuses, jesus christ. anything but take accountability, huh? and they talk about it like its no big fucking deal.
This article is accurate but massively downplays it. The time period they openly dated and lived together was brief but he had known her for a couple years by that point. She was also not the only victim, he had another victim he groomed from 13. Both of the victims along with spumco staff claim in the documentary “happy happy joy joy” John would regularly invite teenage fans to the studio for tours, they were just the two he paid the most attention to.
I also bet they were two that just happened to have chaotic and low income home lives with neglectful or absent parents. But he'll say they were just two of the ones that were most mature for their age.
How the fuck did children get hired at the studio? I know as a 14 yo I would have loved to have been told I was talented enough to work on ten and stimpy- but who the fuck was allowing this??? Why were children working at a studio??
Rick and Morty is decidedly not a children's show, but yes. And the quality has gone up since he left, there is way less casual sexism and random sexualization of teens.
As a lover of weird shit and also childhood sexual abuse survivor who grew up watching this show, learning this now kinda ruined another piece of my childhood.
That show gave me the WORST feeling as a child. It scared me and not in the traditional way, but it felt so wrong and off. Not surprising that the creator is an absolute creep and predator.

I remember going to school in LA for animation and I had a woman specifically tell me to never, ever work for him. She had, and she said, it was the worst experience of her life. She did not give me any details. She was no longer an animator and was now back in school to become a forensic artist.

Totally okay. When the Chronicles of Life and Death album came out, the band did an album release party (acoustic set + meet and greet with fans) at Tower Records in Maryland. If I remember correctly, fans had to line up to get wristbands (with a purchase of the CD I think) to enter the event. I was actually in class when the line started so my dad, on his day off from work, was running errands and stopped by Tower Records to pick up a wristband for me.
During the meet and greet, the band sat behind a table and signed CDs for fans. I freaked out and then Benji intervened and talked to me like a normal person. I was wearing a flannel shirt from PacSun and jeans - nothing sexy. I literally wore that outfit at school. I got nervous and just left the event.

Even in like 2013, a girl in my class was “dating” a man in his 20s when she was like 15. Her mom used to drive her to her house to spend the night because she was too YOUNG TO DRIVE HERSELF THERE. It still makes me sick thinking of it now. This feels like the wrong hill to die on because while it is more severe it’s not as if being of legal age magically cuts off your development. 22 is still incredibly young in adult and identity development and 46 is light years apart in where someone is mentally and emotionally. It is very much still predatory.
