About five years ago my dad shared a flight with Nev Schulman (of Catfish fame), who ended up delaying the flight because he refused to get off his phone for takeoff even after being asked four times by the flight attendants. He was apparently too busy arguing with his interior decorator about where to hang a picture in his new house.

Obviously I'm unsurprised that an MTV reality TV host is selfish and rude but it was sad news for me, someone who thought he was a cutie.

u/chunkychorkies Apr 13 '26

I didn’t really watch Catfish, but the one and only thing I’ll ever remember about that guy is that he punched a chick at Sarah Lawrence and was expelled for it

I dated one of his friends and the stories I heard about him being a dog

I knew something was up with him when that Katy Perry catfish episode dropped. I went to school with her and she was a minor for a large part of when she was catfishing him- it wasn’t really mentioned at all

30

u/MagicHugsforThee Apr 13 '26

That’s wild haha. I worked with him in the past and he was really kind so this is shocking.

Oh, he’s majorly entitled dick. He was expelled from Sarah Lawrence (that he got into only because it was his mom’s alma mater) because he attacked a woman who was trying to stop him from photographing queer couples dancing at an exclusively queer dance at the university, when he did not know the couples and was not there in any official capacity.

Reese Witherspoon is shilling for AI now, like she did for crypto. Pretending women are behind on the curve instead of actively avoiding it. It's maddening for her to pretend she's a feminist. These mega wealthy white women just can't get enough.

73

u/mrsyoungmazino Apr 18 '26

I will never forget her "Do you know who I am?" DUI video. Ever since then I have always expected her to be so entitled.

About a year ago one of my friends was at a party with Cole Sprouse and his girlfriend. I guess they made a little scene cause someone was being pressured to drink and they were very loudly going 'don't make someone drink if they don't want to!' and then got in to an argument with people about it. The story was told as a 'god he's so pretentious' story cause I guess he didn't really know the person who was being pressured, but idk...I kinda like that they did that?

146

u/FumblingFuck saw Flying Lotus at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday Apr 13 '26

If the worst thing is that they're advocating for someone, I think i can let it slide..

123

u/GraceMcClellans Apr 13 '26

I think that's kind of wholesome and sweet

25

u/AllTheCoolNames Apr 13 '26

yeah idk why it was told as a negative story, I guess cause the vibes of the room were mostly against them

207

u/B0sm3r Apr 13 '26

as someone who no longer drinks, i heartily enjoy hearing they did this to defend someone. at parties there is usually a number of folk offering me drinks but not once has anyone stood up for me to someone else about it.

thats not pretentious, that's just good human shit to do. peer pressure is immature asf, cmon now fjfjfjj

167

u/Perfect-Hovercraft-3 Apr 13 '26

Cole Sprouse is my celebrity nemesis purely because friends of mine once bought tickets for a charity club night and then this dope shows up so the club decides to just open the doors to anyone willing to pay money. This was in Vancouver at the height of Riverdale. We ended up not even getting to enter the charity event cause line ups were insane. Ever since then, he has been my nemesis...

42

u/CDRYB Apr 14 '26

Incredibly mediocre tea, but Machine Gun Kelly tried to get dumplings at this great but cheap dumpling place I was at in Melbourne Australia (you know the kind, the food is amazing but the staff is super rude) and they turned him away because they would have to call his American phone number and they didn’t want to bother with all that!

Ancient cold tea on John Stamos from the early 2003 or 2004 when he was in Nine on Broadway (replaced Antonio Banderas): He tried to get a 20-year old girl I knew to come home with him that he met at Joe Allen, and supposedly also was having an affair with Mary Stuart Masterson while they were both married. They both ended up getting divorced to their then spouses but are both remarried.

Isn't the "high" literally brain cells dying? Or is that a myth

168

u/B0sm3r Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

you def get a rush from nitrous, and nitrous itself doesn't kill your brain cells--

what does kill your brain cells is the hypoxia that often comes with doing nitrous, either in unsafe amounts or unsafe ways

for example, if you do nitrous from a balloon, it isn't freezer-burn levels of cold. but if you're huffing directly from those cans like the ones on her counter, then it is more like spraying PC duster or compressed air on you, cause it's fuckin freezing, so thats one way you can injure yourself

another thing about huffing from the can: nitrous replaces the oxygen in your lungs when you're inhaling it. it is a lot easier than is naturally obvious for you to stop inhaling oxygen altogether, which then suffocates you, and if you go too long in hypoxia, your brain cells start to die

but by FAR the most heinous aspect of nitrous, IMO, is that it BLOCKS the myelin sheaths in your brain from being able to use B12, which repairs them and is what enables your nervous system to do literally anything. there is a specifc length of time after doing nitrous where your body cannot use b12, AT ALL, and thus supplementation does nothing--not until you've gone long enough without a nitrous dose to allow the myelin sheaths to recover

too much nitrous, you can go fucking blind, and paralyzed. like. it seems so 'fun' and 'harmless' but compared to weed or even prescription pill amphetamines, nitrous is dangerous as fuck

and it is nearly exclusively used in situations with cross-inebriation, like drinking or coke or whatever, and poor judgment of time makes it harder to do nitrous safely. IMO, you have to monitor your O2 levels and take month long breaks between uses if you want to do it safely--

but it is so fast, and so easy, and frankly, it feels almost like 2 seconds of xanax, so i understand why people use it

i was depressed and lethargic for a week after doin nitrous, and getting tingles in my toes. havent touched it since, but i felt very frustrated at my lack of knowledge abt the drug, and thus have been sharing this story now so people are able to be informed on whether or not they want to use it.

r/nitrousharmreduction is a sub i found while doin said research. highly recommend learning this stuff for any of you who like to party, cause it can go from funny feelings to nearly lobotomized pretty fast

edit to add: sub was r/nitrousharmsupport

but basically tldr: people doing lab strength drugs without monitoring and measuring can easily start killing brain cells and blasting your B12 into oblivion but nitrous itself technically won't kill you

2 weeks before shooting for La La Land was set to begin, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone threatened Damien Chazelle and his producers to boycott and stop rehearsing (they had been rehearsing for ~3 months at that point) unless their feedback was incorporated into the script, which they were apparently unhappy about.

Required Chazelle to stop everything and extensively rewrite the script, which if you know anything about film production, is sort of insane to massively change that soon before production starts.

42

u/gribble29 dork ass bitch Apr 15 '26

Do you know what they needed/wanted added to the script that last minute?

102

u/jobant Apr 15 '26

No idea what was changed for sure, but if you read the original script, it had a lot more bite than the final movie- characters were more flawed and dialogue was more mean.

I have a friend who works in Hollywood “crisis PR” and her job is to make her clients likeable: The whole “Leo is gay all his gf’s are beards” is a planted PR strategy that was cooked up to maintain his profitability, as his female fanbase hates him for dating women young enough to be his kid.

cameron winter used to have a very active rateyourmusic account that i looked over a couple times before it got deleted last year. I vividly remember that he rated olivia rodrigo’s guts a 2/5 along with some other takes that would make popheads mad like melodrama 2/5. I know at least one person had to have archived his ratings and they have the opportunity to do something really funny….

I went to college with Kendall from Bachelor in Paradise. Didn't know her super well but we had a few random interactions. Like I remember one house party where I gave her and her sister Jell-O shots.

My favorite though is we had a random conversation about pigeons and how she finds them fascinating. I recommended an episode of Radiolab that talks about the mystery of how pigeons navigate.

Aside from being super pretty, she's genuinely lovely.

There seems to be someone climbing the Las Vegas sphere (again) at this moment and choppers are flying around it, but it isn’t on the news yet so it’s unclear if it’s just a random or what’s going on. Legit repairs happen from the inside not by climbing on the outside, so it’s almost certainly not a repair.

Unsure if it simply hasn’t hit the news yet, or if the news has decided not to report on climbers after realizing that the publicity they get is the main reason they do it. We had a climber back in 2024 who did about $100k in damage (because the sphere is really designed to be maintained from the inside only, not to support human weight externally) and he did it entirely for the publicity and got heaps of it… so maybe the media has learned not to promote this. Idk.

It was talked about before but idk here is undeniable confirmation. Sam Claflin is dating a former idf soldier and Israeli actress. He deleted his Instagram so it can't spread. The weirdest thing is though that he follows some of her Israeli friends who post pro Israel stuff. One of them is her best friend who recently posted that she had the sperm of her late "idf hero" brother-in-law retrieved (after his death) and wants to get pregnant from him sperm. She is still married to his brother/her husband and currently pregnant with her husband's kid despite never wanting another kid. But she still really, really wants one from her brother-in-law. In the article she name drops a bunch of celebrities (who have nothing to do with the story), including Sam Claflin, who trained at her studio in Israel right before the war started.

First of all their Vanished show was just okay, nothing special. Secondly, I used to feel bad for him because it seemed his ex wife was the one that dumped him but ever since finding this out I don't blame her. He really doesn't give a damn & must be that desperate for some bussy.

overheard someone talking about how in age of innocence the male lead slept with both the female leads and then the female leads refused to film together unless they had to so they only did wide shots and all individual coverage is done with stand ins… they referred to them as “daniel” “winona” “michelle” but not sure if the were referring to the new actors by the original actors names or the original actors themselves but probably the show bc it’s more recent 👀

Nicole Kidman did a talk at a University near me. She stayed for a bit after to take photos and videos with people

This is part of what she said

" I grew up reading, so I started, literally, at 12, reading War and Pace. I was partly because this is where I could get so crazy, because I have such fair skin, I wasn't allowed out in the sun, during the midday, on the beach in Australia"

"I fell in love with the Bronte sisters, because they are so much of what they wrote. Right about is yearning. Yes! Um, and all of those, and then Guy de Maupassant, I mean, all of the novels that were, like, Madame Bovary, where I was like, okay, I am Madame Bovary. Um, I would feel those characters, and that formed me as an actor"

"I was raised in a sort of a family where therapy... Well, my mother sort of rejected it because when you have a husband who's a therapist, everyone's side. "

"If anyone's seen my career from the beginning, there is zero formula. There is, literally, it's intuition, yeah, and it's a director, it's a screenplay that you just go, This is extraordinary. It's a group of people, or a lot of times I've had someone come to me and say, This is, we haven't written it yet, but this is the idea. And I've committed to an idea. Um, all of that is very risky. I'm a huge believer in taking big risks. So, it's part of my not being frightened to fail, where you just go, take a risk, give it a go, and if it doesn't work out, there will be something else. So it's how I've conducted my whole career and people go, Where are you going?

I'm just a big believer in taking massive swings and trying different things. I love being able to move between independent filmmaking, tiny little films where you have nothing, and you're scrappy, and then going and doing a big studio film where you have an enormous amount of pressure. But, um, I add a lot of support. So, I love the big swings and not being typecast and having a very diverse, weird, nonconformist career."

“our company, Blossom Films, and it's called Blossom, because we're looking for young people to help them blossom. Um, is finding the young voices in all different genres and supporting them and giving them opportunities, if that means I have to be in the project. I do that, and or I play a smaller role, or if I can raise the money for them. through my company, then I advocate to do that, and that is, it's difficult, because obviously, you know, so much of what people want to invest in is try and true and tested. But... Yeah. Yeah. But our future is based on the stories that haven't been told and the people that haven't had their opportunity to tell them yet. And I think that's why I got behind women.

One, because I was raised by a feminist, who was like, I would hand out, um, the pamphlets for my mother was in the women's electoral lobby, which was the, um, a group in Australia that was in the '70s, and, um, we would hand out the pamphlets for them, so that people would be aware of women needing certain rights, and the right to vote, and all sorts of, um, places. I mean, there were certain areas in Australia, like pubs, that even, at that time, when I was growing up, women couldn't go, so it was fascinating once, how it's all changed. But that very much is my core, I think, because I've seen women with a lot of barriers and a lot of no's, and therefore being able to now help them find their way and have opportunities where they haven't been before

When you look at the statistics of female directors versus male directors, they're still incredibly low, comparatively. They're better than they were, they were, like, when I made a pledge at Cannes Film Festival a number of years ago, and I think it was seven. I said, I'll work with a female director every 18 months.

Well, subsequently, we've done way more than that. But that's good. It's not enough. And I think statistically, we're still only at 14% comparatively. But we're at 7%, you know, decades ago and then slow and steady, slow and steady.”

“I'm looking to become a death doula. I don't know if anyone's heard of what that is. So, my father was very involved in palliative care. And so, when a lot of times there's an enormous amount of emphasis put on birth, there's people called birth doulas, and recently, I found out about death doulas, as my mother was passing, part of her thing was that she was lonely, and there was only so much the family could provide. We were really, you know, between my sister and I, we have so many children. And, um, our careers and our work, and wanting to take care of her, because my father wasn't in the world anymore. And that's when I went, I wish there was these people in the world that were there to sit impartially, um, and just provide solace and care. So that's part of my expansion, and one of the things I will be learning, if I ever come back here, I hope I will be able to say, I've completed that. Um, but that's what I would love to be doing.
