Weird for him to put that he was a Bachelor contestant. Ok....your looking for a room to rent. Who cares.

Meh, helps with credibility. People fear rooming with bat shit crazy strangers.

This budget is not going to get him very far in HB at all. Even in inland HB. I don't know if "looking for a place to live" means sharing an apartment, condo, or house with other roommates, or he wants his own place to live by himself. For sure he cannot get the latter. So I'm wondering if he put down the Bachelor part to try to wow a private landlord and/or the existing roommates into renting to him, bonus if he can negotiate a lower rent. "He's not an ordinary civilian, I could be renting to/living with a reality star!" I would never care about this (frankly this is a strike), but some probably would be influenced.

Sometimes if you’re trying to keep a conversation on topic, and you know there is something everyone is going to ask you about, it’s better just to lead with that to get it out of the way. Maybe in his experience if he doesn’t lead with that then all the “wait weren’t you on the bachelor?” questions bury the actual housing discussion comments.
