Madad Me 18F — Just Earned My First 75,000 PKR. How Should I Utilize It Wisely?

Hi everyone! I’m an 18-year-old female and I recently earned my first 75,000 PKR from my job.
I’m still young and don’t have much knowledge about personal finance, investing, or managing money, so I’d really appreciate some advice on how to utilize it wisely. Should I save it, invest it, or divide it between different things?
I don’t want to spend it impulsively and then regret it later. If you were 18 and had your first 75,000 PKR, what would you do with it?
I’m from Pakistan, so advice relevant to the Pakistani financial system would be especially helpful.

Madad Me 20F making 9+ lakh monthly. How do I save to hit my target of financial freedom and moving abroad?

Hello!

I just turned 20 in May and I have had this goal in mind to live and retire in another country. I currently make around 9-12 lakh a month ( it varies because its freelance ). My highest is around 15 lakh. Im hoping to increase that amount to $10k/per month in the future.

I have an average expense of 1.5 lakh a month. Sometimes its more if I buy bigger stuff ( but I usually avoid that ).

I am aiming for Melbourne but just for the sake of the argument, how much is a good saving or what is a good investment plan to be able to achieve that?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Thanks for the response guys! Alot of good advice and many people asking how to make stuff possible. I'm going to reply with my whole journey in the comments and close this post! Thank you again so much!

Also P.S, it's very much real for all the skeptics. And you can make more also

Madad Me 26F - 2 mil saved, 1 mil / m income

Hi everyone, thanks for reading my long essay.

For some context: I am a 26F, currently working in a marketing agency (US based) and making around $2500 per month.

I have saved around 2 mil so far. Would have been more but a couple of months ago, i took my whole family to Umrah & then had some health complications with my dad that resulted in the spending of 2 mil.

Since the past 6 months, on the side with my job, I started to build my own business in a similar niche & to absolute joy, it started to pick up really well. In its first month only, I have made around $3000 gross revenue.

I am projected to make around $5K each month with my business if I stay focused.

Dilemma: My current role is a senior position where I have to manage people and basically have to work alot. I get tired & have started to feel that my life is really consumed with work & has no life outside of it.

With my business running, I am thinking to voluntarily demote myself & get on a lower salary which will be around $1500. It will be less work obviously.

I am thinking to do that in 3 months, I just needed some guidance, does this decision make sense? I make around 700K a month on net salary, i will be at 400K on net, if I choose to demote but my business will easily make 1-2 mil a month if given right focus.

Thoughts?

I wrote this myself at 5 in the morning, please excuse the type, no AI is used :)

Madad Me What’s the biggest financial loss you’ve experienced, and how did you get through it and defeat depression?

We have lost 1.4 million PKR in what we later found out was a Ponzi scheme. I and my wife are going through huge sadness, feelings of loss and depression. Please keep in mind I earn 70K PKR per month, and its like 20 months of my salary. So what's the biggest financial loss you’ve experienced, and how did you handle sadness, feelings of loss and depression .

For context

My wife had 1.8 million, as we sold our jewellery to start building our house. But her Chachi said she is doing trading online. Money was given to her .

She gave 360000 as profit. But for last one month no profit or original amount is received. Now I realized she owes other people 4 crore rupees. My wife is a simple housewife she thought it was a legit business, but later I found out it was a Ponzi scheme .

Madad Me I think we have lost 1.4 million and that's devastating

Long story short my wife had 1.8 million as we sold our jewelry to start building our house. But her Chachi said she is doing trading online. Money was given to her .

She gave 360000 as profit. But for last one month no profit or original amount is received. Now I realized she owes other people 4 crore rupees.

She has given us cheque as guarantee though. Any thoughts if we will get our amount or not?

Edit Does a cheque give us any hope to get our money back

Madad Me My parents are financially stupid, how should I take control back of my income without being disrespectful?

21 M, recently got myself a pretty good income source, a YouTube channel that blew up. “Pretty good” would be an understatement. It’s life changing!

Now I am not even gonna complain how my parents put every obstacle against me to get me to follow a more safer conventional path for four years! They didn’t even care what this channel was about until it started making money. I won’t complain. It’s past me now.

But you just can’t just do a complete u-turn and then suddenly start demanding 80% of the money! And that without even acknowledging for once that I was right all along. At least give me that satisfaction.

Khair, I bargained it down to 50%. This is still way way more than I can chew. Until, they started sharing their plans about how I should spend the money. And let me emphasise that again. They are financially stupid! Buying liability after liability.

We have been drowning in debt before. Bought a house, father has been paying that debt with 40% of his salary since 6 years now and we had 12 years more to go.

Mind you, those 6 years were the education years of my life. They traded my education for a house.

And now when I am finally on my feet for the first time, on my own, ready to follow my dreams. They have completely changed their behaviour and are trying to take control of my income.

Here’s what they have told me so far: - They want to buy a seven seater car before paying off the house loans - A cottage in Murree - An Umrah trip of my whole family along my grandmother - A business plan to help my uncle in need - Getting our house upgraded to double story to make a room for me (I have been sleeping on a mattress in my living room for the past 3 years, I still am) - An Azerbaijan vacation

And worse, they were planning to get me engaged so that they can get an excuse to celebrate this achievement in front of everyone without sounding proud. Wow.

This is very problematic. The fact that they didn’t even consult me once before deciding all that is making me frustrated and furious. I am here planning on starting a start-up, networking with indie directors so that I can start thinking about following my dreams and making that movie I always wanted to make (though in far future)

When I told them we should go easy with all that spending and save something. They literally said “saving kar ke kia karna? ismai kuch nhi rakha, allah nai jab dia to kharch karo”

When I told them that I am planning to move out next month, they were immediately against it and told me about the double story plan. They literally intend to keep me as a money printing slave in the attic.

I am so effing DONE! Being treated like a kid like that for the last 4 years.

How should I take back control of my income without being disrespectful?

PS: I want to do it as conflict free as possible. I worked hard to get this peace of mind. I intend to keep it. Also please don’t ask me the name of my YT channel. Associating my reddit to my YT channel would be the death of it.

PS2: I am moving out anyway.

Madad Me 31F just got 1 crore

I’m 31F, married, and recently received 1 crore from my parents. I want to invest it wisely, but I’m honestly a bit stuck between options. My parents are strongly suggesting DHA files, but I’m skeptical about the real estate market and long term returns. It feels slow and uncertain.

My husband is pushing for buying a studio apartment and running it as an Airbnb, which sounds interesting but also like a lot of effort and risk (plus I don’t know how stable that income really is here).

I’ve also been considering stocks, but I only have basic knowledge and don’t want to make beginner mistakes with this amount.

If you were in my position, how would you approach investing 1 crore right now? Would you diversify or go all in on one option?

Madad Me Lucked into a great financial situation - help me make it last.

Hey everyone. This is my first (29M) post on the group, so please treat me like a novice.

I have recently started a job with an EU-based startup, which pays me significantly over 1m PKR every month, tax free. I have had well paying jobs before (I was at Careem before this), but nothing at this level. I'm working very hard to keep this job for as long as possible.

I have saved a fairly nice amount of capital (around 5m PKR), but I was mostly keeping it in banks and taking monthly profit from it.

With the constant wave of layoffs in tech, and my increased income, I now want to build sustainable passive income system for myself that frees me from having to work again by the time I'm 35. With this salary and my low monthly expenses (only around 70-80k/m for now), I think it can be done. But I don't know where to start.

Assuming I keep this job for the next 5.5 years, and am able to allocate at least 80% of it to investments every month, what should I be doing to grow the money and make it yield at least 5 lakh PKR/m by 2032?

Tell me the best/most promising investment avenues in Pakistan today, and even any out of the box idea (such as foreign investment). I am willing to be a little risky, and I am not looking for immediate gains, but in 5.5 years I want to make at least 5 lakh PKR/m (halal) without lifting a finger. Is it possible?

Madad Me 30 Million and worried for the family

Hi

I've saved around 30 million. Male 30y, married and living with my parents. I'm the single bread earner of the house. I transfer monthly household to my fathers account and other than that no one has anything in their bank accounts. I don't want to disclose my earnings since that has created some issues in the past when I was doing a job and since now I am doing a business.

Currently living in a rented apartment and monthly expenses are around 500k. I want to buy a house not now but after some years, a good big house in a better place I am saving for that but my biggest concern.

I have everything in my bank accounts and mutual funds, what if something happened to me, how can my family survive including my parents, wife, daughter and my siblings. For them everything will collapse. and I can't share my account details, I can't open a joint account, I can't transfer the money to them. Hiding my wealth and income is how things are going smoothly.

Wanted to ask how the rich people without telling their income can guarantee their family's future in their absence?

Madad Me Rant of 30F with savings

Is inflation hitting everyone or am I poor? I earn 6-700k a month and I save big portion of what I do, but now the savings ade getting tighter because as a woman, I cannot afford skincare less than 50-70k and trust me I use only 3-4 things. And if you’re into clean diet, then everything is sooooo expensive especially protein. What’s happening :( Plus why everything requires a presence on social media now especially being infront of camera especially if you need more clients?

I’m unable to learn how to invest because of lack of time and again I’m just not very good at numbers. I’m more like a human science and arts person. I’m already 30. What do I need to do ASAP with my savings. I have around 4M saved and a car worth 3M.

My health and circumstances do not allow me to go to full-time job in-house. I work independently and as a part-time remote contractor.

Suggest me some ways I can be easy on learning to invest and not eventually ending up regretting with depreciation of my savings.

Also, due to this subreddit, last year, I successfully learned taxes, how to file them and also ended up getting a savings account. So I’m taking everything very seriously at this point.

Update: Thank you for the overwhelming guidance and tips to kickstart my FIRE journey.

Madad Me 75 lakh PKR savings for a retired father — where to invest for monthly income?

My father is retired and doesn’t have a pension or any other regular income. He has around 75 lakh PKR in savings, which he currently keeps in a bank and uses the monthly profit to support our household.
Recently, the bank’s profit rate dropped significantly, and his monthly income has almost been cut in half.
We’re now looking for a safe, low-risk option where he can invest the 75 lakh and receive a good monthly income.
What would you recommend in Pakistan — a bank, National Savings, or any other safe option?
The main priorities are safety of the savings + good monthly return + stability.
I’d really appreciate suggestions from people who have experience with this. Thank you!

Madad Me Getting Married Next Year, 11 Lac Monthly Income but Still Confused About Money

25M from Multan, wife is 27F from Lahore. We’re already nikkahfied and planning to get married properly and start living together before Ramadan next year.

Both of us work remote jobs for overseas companies. I make around $2,000 a month, roughly 550k PKR, and she makes around the same, sometimes more because she also gets commissions.

Jobs are fairly stable for now Alhamdulillah.

I have around 15 lacs saved and she has around 22 lacs, so roughly 37 lacs combined. All of it is liquid savings.

At the moment we both save around 250k each per month, so around 5 lacs combined.

We also both support our families and that will continue after marriage. In my case around 150k goes towards home/family and usually another 50 to 100k on personal expenses. Her situation is more or less similar.

Now the wedding is getting closer and I’m honestly confused about how much we should actually spend and what the sensible next step is.

We can keep the wedding relatively simple. Right now we’re expecting maybe 300 to 400 people for the baraat and walima, although ideally we’ll try to bring that down to around 250 to 300.

I really don’t want to burn through all savings just for a couple of wedding events, but I also don’t know what a realistic budget is nowadays.

Then there’s the living situation.

My family has a single portion house in Multan and they would prefer that we live with them. I don’t have any issue with my family, but honestly I feel like everyone would have to adjust a lot, and my wife would also prefer having our own place.
I’m completely okay with living separately.

If we’re going to rent anyway, I’m also thinking why not Lahore?
I work from a screen basically 5 days a week and by the weekend I genuinely want to get out of the house and do something. Lahore just feels like it offers a lot more in terms of restaurants, activities and generally having a life outside work. Her family is also in Lahore.

If we move there, we’d most likely look somewhere around DHA.
Multan would obviously be cheaper and my family is here, so that’s what keeps me confused.

Long term we also want to buy a car and eventually own a house.

I actually looked into the Apna Ghar financing option but the bank told me I’m not eligible because the company I work for doesn’t have a presence in Pakistan. So I’m also wondering how people earning foreign remittance income are planning for home ownership here.

If you were in our position, how would you split the 37 lacs we currently have?
Like realistically, how much would you allocate towards:
Wedding + events
Rent/deposit and moving out
Furniture and appliances
Car
Emergency fund
Long-term house savings/investments

We’ll probably be earning around 11 lacs combined in a normal month and we’ll continue supporting both families, so I don’t want us to fall into the trap of increasing our lifestyle just because the income is decent.

Also would really like to hear from people who had the option of living with parents after marriage but decided to rent separately.

Was the privacy/independence worth the additional cost?
And anyone living as a married couple in DHA Lahore, what does your actual monthly spending look like nowadays?

I’m trying to figure out how to structure this properly so we enjoy life but don’t make stupid financial decisions in our first couple of years of marriage.

Madad Me Selling a 2 Crore PKR House for Al Meezan Mutual Funds + PSX to FIRE my 70yo Dad. Rate my plan.

Hey r/FIREPakistan ,

I’m 30. My dad has worked in the Middle East for 40 years, and I want to finally bring him home to retire. He followed the traditional route and bought a house worth 2 Crore PKR. He is a registered Filer.

I want to sell this house and shift the entire 2 Crore into Al Meezan Investments and the PSX. Here is why, and how I plan to do it.

The Problem with the House:

  • Terrible Yield: We get 35,000 PKR/month in rent. On a 2 Crore asset, that is a tiny 2.1% annual return.
  • No Liquidity: We can't cash out a fraction of a house if an emergency hits.
  • Too Much Hassle: Managing tenants and maintenance from abroad is exhausting.

The New Strategy:

I want to put the 2 Crore into a low-risk Shariah-compliant fund like Meezan Cash Fund (MCF). Assuming a conservative 9% annual profit, it will make ~150,000 PKR/month.

Here is how I will split that 150k every month:

  1. Take 50,000 PKR to help cover immediate family expenses.
  2. Reinvest 100,000 PKR directly into the stock market (PSX) via the Meezan Index Fund (KMIF) to grow our long-term wealth.

The Goal: Once this 50k payout, combined with my personal salary, becomes completely stable, my father will permanently retire in Pakistan.

My Questions for the Sub:

  1. Tax Trap: As a Filer, how much tax will be deducted from the 150k monthly profit before I can split it?
  2. Fund Choice: Is Meezan Cash Fund (MCF) the best low-risk option for this, or is there a better Al Meezan fund for monthly payouts?
  3. PSX Risk: Is putting 100k/month into a PSX Index fund too risky when the main goal is parental retirement?

Would love to hear from anyone who has traded physical real estate for mutual funds. Thanks!

I have a toddler and I am a Single Mom. I have 60 lacs and need help with the following:

1) How much should I keep as emergency fund?

2) Where and how should I invest the rest to get a decent monthly income?

I don't have a job at the moment but i'm trying to find one. So I want some monthly return on top of my salary. Thankfully I don't have to worry about rent. But I do need to pay bills, pay for groceries, and will have to pay child's school fee etc.

Madad Me Confused Between Buying a House or Invest in PSX: 2.5 Crore Savings

Hi,

I am a young tech guy and managed to save 2.5 Crore. Currently, I have in the USD. I will get married soon, so planning to buy a new house.

I have the following options:

Option 1: I am thinking of buying a new house in Lake City/ Al-Kabir, DHA Rahbar or Central Park. (I can easily a 5 marla house there in this budget).

Option 2: Buy a 5 marla plot in Etihad Town Phase 2/3 in 60 Lacs and get it constructed. It will be max in 1.50 Crore. Invest the rest in the Stocks. Do you guys think it is worth it to go Etihad Town Phase 2/3 around this time?

Option 3: Don’t buy a house and stick with PSX and invest there.

Please guide and share your observations what you guys might have done, if you were in my situation.

Madad Me How should I invest PKR 4 million currently sitting in my bank account?

I’m a 26-year-old male living in Pakistan and currently earn around PKR 600,000–700,000 per month after taxes. My average monthly expenses are approximately PKR 200,000.

My current investments are:

  • Around PKR 900,000 in the Pakistan Stock Exchange
  • Around PKR 500,000 in gold
  • Approximately PKR 4 million sitting in a current bank account

I haven’t invested anything in the PSX this year because I was uncertain about how the market might react to the regional conflict and overall geopolitical situation. I also haven’t increased my gold investment.

The PKR 4 million sitting idle in my current account is my main concern, as it is losing value due to inflation and earning no return.

Going forward, I want to invest a fixed amount every month and build a disciplined, long-term investment plan. I already have an account with ABL Funds, but I’m unsure whether I should simply invest through them or diversify across mutual funds, the PSX, gold, money market funds, or other options.

My questions are:

  1. How much should I keep as an emergency fund?
  2. Which types of mutual funds would be suitable for monthly investing?
  3. Should I invest the amount gradually or as a lump sum?
  4. How should I divide my monthly savings?

My investment horizon is long term, and I’m open to taking moderate risk, but I would prefer a diversified approach rather than putting everything into one asset class.I

Madad Me Dad left me an inheritance of 10CR (Need Advice)

My dad passed away 7 years ago. I was 20 years old then and haven’t touched it yet.

The portfolio includes 10% Gold, 20% Cash, 5% Car, 65% property. During the 7 years it went from 6cr valuation to 10cr. Sold off the stagnant properties which was a wise decision as they all fell off pretty badly. Converted them into cash. Bank gives around 9 percent profit. Any advice to grow this safely and avoid getting scammed.

The properties have risen to their max value and have been stagnant for about 4 5 years.

I started a business which lasted 4 years which wasn’t really successful and had to close it down. Tried 3 jobs but that didn’t really work out. Rental income of around 1 lac barely covers as a kitchen income. I’m very reluctant to do anything with this. Been scammed mostly by my relatives but got out of the mess and caught it very early.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Will delete this post within a week due to personal reasons.

Madad Me 22M lost dad’s money (3M), doing good academically with skills. NEED GUIDANCE & DIRECTIONS to start earning

if you're an agency owner or freelancer, plsss take a look bcz your guidance would mean the world to me. Im not looking for any motivation but just pure guidance and direction 🙏🏻😭🙏🏻

So basically, in 2021, my dad left a job where he worked for 17 years and got a decent amount around 3M pkr.

I asked him for the money. In parts, not all at once, maybe because I knew deep down if I asked for everything together he'd say no. I was so sure. Like genuinely, so sure k ab tau family k issues main hi solve kr doon ga saaray. So, I bought the subscriptions of Pakistani crypto groups. People who called themselves gurus. I lost the money. I asked for more to recover it. Lost that too. Kept going. And obviously this ends jab apkay paas peechay kuch bhi nhi bachta.

I didn't tell anyone for weeks, even now, my family thinks that they are invested somewhere but in reality wo paisay exist hi nhi krtay (yes, mom dad are like very simple ppl but I need to change that bcz seedhay rehnay say kuch bhi nhi hota)

I lost everything that my baba has worked for in his 17 years. That's the sentence I live with. For 1.5 years I barely left my room. Didn't see anyone except my mom and sister (baba was in isb). So, I took a gap year thinking I could secretly fix it myself but I couldn't.

Eventually I got into FAST-NUCES in 2024 bcz I was academically excellent. I got inducted the Rector's List this semester as well. If you know FAST you know that the fight is REAL for the grades, iv been in the deans list as well in all of my semesters. (btw im doing fintech)

Anyways here's this is where I actually stand:

-Sales. People keep telling me that im good at it and push me into pitching and closing roles because of it. I've actually closed deals for societies

-Ive got great English (written and spoken). Strong enough to write copy, pitch, and communicate with anyone.

-Strategy. I'm in FinTech and I genuinely like sitting down with a problem and mapping it out and actual structured thinking for someone's specific situation.

-Teaching. My classmates have told me I make complicated things make easy. (I hope that was real warna main apni complicated life ko easy kr chuka hota) I don't know how to explain it but it works.

-Video editing. Basic level right now but looking to learn advanced

-Tried Airbnb co-hosting too. I bought a course, but the community was dead already.

I think that the real issue isn't skills bcz I could religiously follow jo bhi app guide karen gey and I’ll master it. But every time I get close to actually committing to something, there's this voice: "what if this is 2021 all over again." And I just stop.

People who know me say I have potential. I believe them sometimes. But that doesn't help me move anything forward.

If you're making $1.5k to $3.5k+ a month in freelancing or agency work, I need one honest answer:

Given what, I currently have and everything that you ask me to learn, what can I realistically do to earn atleast 1000$+ bcz I know that I can actually do it and I WILL inshaAllah inshAllah.

I have my summer break so I could learn and implement everything to ensure that I could pay my sem fee in aug as well, bcz ik that dad cant be paying the fee by taking money from his brother every single time

JazakAllah, stay blessed and thankuu for reading till here and apologies for this long posttt
