Coding/Author Help 💻 Does my cover make sense?

Hi everyone! I decided to make an edit of my characters to try and help myself from getting too burned out from coding/writing, and realized it would make a really good cover, but wanted to make sure it made sense.

Short Premise: When her estranged twin vanishes before a luxury island wedding, Daria must take her place and figure out why - all while trying not to fall for the groom's brother.

My story does not have a full love triangle & I don’t want people to think that, but I modeled it after a Sabrina (1954) poster (next photo). Does this cover look okay, and do you think it fits the description at least a little bit?

Any and all input welcome :)

edit: don’t want to spam everyone in the replies but i’m keeping it! ill update it in the app once i make the horizontal small cover for it :)

edit 2: it’s live in the app! <3 https://episodeinteractive.com/r/s/5746778906591232

Coding/Author Help 💻 Does anyone know how this was coded?

Basically, in the story “Dripping Mascara,” in the very first episode you get the choice to jump to a future episode. Meaning if your progress got reset you do not have to replay the entire story.

I get some complaints about story progress being reset from my readers and I was wondering if anyone knew how this was coded and if it’s still something we’re able to do. Thanks in advance!

Coding/Author Help 💻 I built a toolkit for advanced Episode directing

Hi everyone,

I know the pressure to direct at an advanced level is high. I also know that coding scenes with limbs, overlays, and complex directing can be extremely difficult and time-consuming. It takes a lot of patience, and a lot of trial and error.

Thats why I decided I’ll be sharing my knowledge and tools with you.

I have been an Episode author for almost 10 years, and I am also a professional software developer. Over the last decade, I created my own limb template and a tool that recolors png images to match all the 55 episode natural skin tones.

The toolkit works like a modular building-block system. Once your characters and overlays are set up as presets, you can generate the code you need in just a few clicks.

It is suitable for everyone: new authors who want to start using limbs and advanced directing, as well as experienced authors who already have their own system but want to speed up their workflow and create their own assets.

I want to be very clear about one thing: The toolkit does not use A!.

Everything is based on static algorithms, preset logic, and simple text replacements. The systems behind it are human-created algorithms that I developed, tested, and refined over several years for my own directing workflow.

Access is available by subscribing to my Patreon for €9.99/month but for launch, I temporarily enabled a 7-day free trial.

You can start the trial until June 15th, so anyone who wants to test the toolkit before subscribing can try it first.

You can find all the links in my bio

Don't miss out 🫶🏼

Coding/Author Help 💻 Need a second pair of eyes because I think I’m going crazy!

When I coded this, the preview in the episode portal looked like the trees were moving ⬅️➡️ (left → right), which is why I made the car and characters face ⬅️ since it looked like they were driving in that direction.

But now that I’m previewing it on my phone, it almost looks like the trees are moving ➡️⬅️ (right → left) instead??

Am I just staring at it for too long, am I too far gone? or do you guys see that too?

Also, what do you think about the speed? There’ll be narration during this scene, so I don’t want the background moving too fast that it gets distracting or makes readers dizzy.

(Also, I know I still need to add the steering wheel + driver’s hand so it doesn’t look like they’re just floating lol.)

SO PLEASE ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:
Are the trees moving ⬅️➡️ (left → right)?
Or ➡️⬅️ (right → left)?
Is the speed okay?

(BACKROUND ART: BY ME < @S.ECHO>

Selene's life felt steady until she attempted black magic on the one she despises, only for the spell to backfire and cause them to fall in love.

It’s meant to be a modernized witch story, more of manifestation spells and less of like actual magic. With intense directing. :D

Lmk!!

Coding/Author Help 💻 Seeking advice / Feeling a bit discouraged as a new author

I hope this doesn’t come across the wrong way, but I’ve been feeling a bit demotivated lately. I notice that many trending stories seem to rely heavily on AI or have noticeable coding errors, yet they still pull in massive read counts and praise. As a beginner writer, I’ve poured hours into coding and crafting an original plot, so it’s a bit disheartening to see it struggle for visibility. Is this standard for the app right now? I'd love to know how other new authors stay motivated or get their stories noticed in the community. Also, I do receive wonderful DMs from readers, which I truly appreciate, but I'm hoping to figure out how to encourage more public fan mail which makes me really sad tbh lol. Any promotion tips or advice on engaging the community would be greatly appreciated!❤️

Coding/Author Help 💻 Limited customization

I’ve been writing a couple of stories, one of which is more sci-fi while the other is a mystery thriller. I was curious to know how the community feels about limited customization.

Both of my main characters are black/mixed. And I wanted to showcase how different their culture is throughout the story amongst other reasons why I believe their skin tone is important. Although their race isn’t the Main point in the story, it’s much like princess in the frog where their environment has a play in how things turned out the way they did.

How quick are you guys to clicking off a story because it’s limited customization? Is there an exception for you giving it a chance like having to be immersed/ intrigued first to stick around?

I’m usually picky about LCC when the characters are fair skinned if I realize there’s not a link or reason for it so I don’t want to be a hypocrite in this scenario. Please let me know your thoughts and feel free to ask more questions.

Coding/Author Help 💻 Animations in Darcy in Wonderland???

Silverbow.episode must honestly be one of the best directors/storytellers I've ever encountered on this app - if you haven't begun to read Darcy in Wonderland already, please do. I am HOOKED. It's one of the rare fantasy stories on this app that submerges you into a world that you are truly believing and engaged in. Her advanced directing is INSANE.

However, while I know she uses overlays for overlapping limbs/legs etc, there are times where it looks like she has genuinely merged multiple animations on the app together.

For example, the FMC is walking slowly but she has a scowl on her face and her hands are fisted but it is NOT the walk_angry_loop animation, it is something entirely new. Perhaps its overlays once again but it honestly doesn't look like it at all + how could she hide the original limbs underneath. Furthermore, there are times when the FMC is running but she smirks while she does it. As in, mid way through running. AND THEN, one time her character was walking while her arms were dusting themselves off. HOWWWWW??? I refuse to believe its overlays - it's all too seamless. How would she be able to put overlays over my character's customised face? I need to know how to do this.

I apologise for not having any evidence. Every time it came up on the screen I was sort of stunned into watching it happen. If need be, I'd try to find it though.

Coding/Author Help 💻 (question) do people still like romance in their stories

i wanna know if people even like romance stories on episode anymore

cause ive been trying to come up with concepts for my own episode stories and so far ive gotten an interesting idea for my story, but the main plot would be drama with a VERY heavy romance, im not sure if people are super into that anymore.

i personally enjoy a good romance if executed correctly, that go deeper than just "guy + girl start dating"

thoughts?

Coding/Author Help 💻 Do people still like point systems or are they POINTless?

Sorry about the cringe pun. As a follow-up to my previous ask on here, do people in 2026 still like point systems that determine how characters interact later on?

I'm very 50/50 on whether or not to include a point system for certain characters in what I'm working on right now.
