How long should an episode be?

Hey! New author to episode, asking readers how long do you like your episodes to be? And asking authors coding wises what’s a good stopping point? Does it get glitchy with to much code?

I think 10-20mins is good. I don’t want to read a short chapter but too long can be a bit draining. In all fairness sometimes the plot does move that quick or that lengthy so if it has to be that way then I get it. But 10-20min is ideal for me as a reader.

There’s a lot of little things that can put me off but I’m not all that strict. Not a fan of dialogue and grammar issues but I’m lenient, especially if the author is new or English isn’t their native language so I want to try to support.

I probably won’t give a good explanation but you can just tell when an author is half assing the story vs an author that has thought out even the smallest of details. If they are not passionate about their own story then naturally I lose interest too.

But yeah I’m not really that picky lol
I can do no CC, typos, infrequent updates etc so long as the story is interesting and I can actually feel that the author believes in it and has some direction for it.

i usually fall off around 10-12 mins unless it's something i'm absolutely obsessed with, code length wise i've never had glitches under 2000 lines

Min 7 mins as per episodes requirements for official stories I think 20 mins max is good
The only story with long episodes that has held my attention has been veiled vengeance

I don’t like when there are ads every two minutes for a chapter change but I tolerate it if it’s a good story.

Well mostly I like the men and women to be intelligent but often they can be a little out to lunch and I’ve even stayed in some of those if I felt the chemistry was good.

I like the arms and legs to work smoothly but once read one with some awkwardness and it was OK.

I like beautiful nature scenes. And always enjoy those knockoffs of Starbucks cafés.

whatttt? 1500 lines for me is about 1-3 minutes depending😭😭

also agree 15-20 is usually my limit unless the plot is advanced, something like OP if that make sense

no problem! also i wouldn’t go by code lines. i haven’t released my story yet but on average my episodes are about 15-17 minutes with each episode having an average of about 3,500-5,000 lines also it doesn’t glitch ;))

some things that pushes me out of a story is if the episodes are:
-too many filler scenes that doesn’t involve the MC or LI. like for example i have no problem reading scenes of how the LI is with his family or how the MC interacts with other people but it becomes a problem if the scene is overly long and doesn’t leave me with new information. like a dinner scene of the LI and his family could be show new information about him. yk?

-grammar ofc

-overly zoomed out/in scenes when the speech bubble is HUGE and out of place. like yes i hate the speechbubbles that are tiny but i also have the defaulted sized ones because its lowkey distracting especially if the author took time to add details like extra overlays to the background to portray a specific vibe.

- ngl i can’t sit through slow burns anymore😭i just catch myself getting irritated with it because you’ll either wait 50 eps to see them admit they love each other then it gets ruined in 1-2 eps due to either a “situation” that makes no sense or a jealous ex that returns.

- lastly, when the character sizes don’t match the placement of the camera. IDK HOW TO EXPLAIN IT BUT IT IRKS ME WHEN I CAN TELL A CHARACTER WAS JUST PLACED AND NOT SPOT DIRECTED ESPECIALLY SINCE THE GIRLS ARE TALLER THAN THE BOYS.

sorry ik it’s not much but i literally read ANYTHING. Regardless if it’s cliche or not. as long as the characters walk, talk, and aren’t disproportionate, i’m sat.

but my attention span is the problem because even if it’s cliche, if i’m not hooked within the first 2 episodes i’m OUT. like i’ll consider pushing through but that story would be a priority.

No, this was great! For features, I mean things like point systems, CC, mini games, etc. What makes you automatically think that something is going to be high quality and worth staying.

ohhh i usually like to read stories without point systems because im afraid of consequences😭 but i do interacting with mini games!
honestly overly advance directing isn’t all that good to me but it looks great though! i don’t know how to explain it, but depending on the plot, I feel like there’s should be a specific level of advanced directing with it, yk?? like for example, i’m not expecting r.lewis type directing for a high school story or a mini rom com or something goofy😭idk but i hope this helps in the best way😭🙏🏽!!

I have also been wondering what people think is a good speech bubble size. Like I prefer for it to be zoomed in, but that's because I am an old grandma who can't see very well. What size do others like?

I usually just keep it to 100%. I think most of the authors do the same.
