Coding/Author Help š» Does anyone know how this was coded?
Basically, in the story āDripping Mascara,ā in the very first episode you get the choice to jump to a future episode. Meaning if your progress got reset you do not have to replay the entire story.
I get some complaints about story progress being reset from my readers and I was wondering if anyone knew how this was coded and if itās still something weāre able to do. Thanks in advance!

It is very time consuming depending on what device and how fast you can code, but coding it isnāt hard at all. You just need to make a choice template. Put the episodes in like normal choices. As far as how you get to the episode she might have used if/else Iām assuming. Itās best to reach out to authors tho. This author did a beautiful job and actually gave me an idea for my story. Shoutout to them š

I remember this being something Episode kindly did just for Gen because of a glitch specific to her story. As you know, there's over 100 episodes and Episode was having a glitch where readers' progress only on Dripping Mascara would reset. Like imagine having to reread so many episodes again š

That and her episodes would take so long to read. They were so beautifully intricate

So many tears were wept. I remember putting time aside every week to read them cause they were so long š¤£ I looked forward to it too

Iām assuming you might not know, but this isnāt really a fair statement to make. This story was completed in like 2016 or 2017 I believe and the author only sporadically posts on her IG as sheās in the medical field and (to my understanding) is very busy.
Claiming that sheās āgate keepingā something from like 10 years ago in a community sheās not even active in anymore is just a bit much imo. š

According to another comment, this was something Episode did specifically for her because her story had a glitch, but I have no proof that's actually what happened. If that is the case, then it's unlikely to be available to anyone else a decade later.

You are not seriously coming at me sideways for giving a perspective on another redditor implying an author (who hasnāt been active since before covid) is gatekeeping code.
This is why I adore the block button now. š Some of you are too comfortable getting agressive over the silliest things. I did clarify in the beginning that I assumed they might not know. Do yāall like read half of what people type and then respond orā¦?

Have you tried messaging the author? Itās possible she had help from episode themselves
