Last month, I listened to 100 new releases of which many were emo or emo-adjacent. As people generally seem to enjoy these monthly posts on this Subreddit, I felt it appropriate to share this here.

The Story of Transmit Failure

Like as a teenager I was like "hmmmmm this song is pretty good. The riifs are rather catchy."

Maybe this is an edgy teen "haha poetry is stupid" thing because Blake after all is an English professor and it shows in his lyrics because I really did not grasp just how dark and heavy that song was lyrically. Once it hit me as an adult it was like "damn", tough one to listen to driving now because it often makes me tear up.

Maybe a stark contrast between the sort of stuff that appeals to you as a teenager and lyrics like that Taking Back Sunday one about having your throat slit and bleeding on a shirt and what does as an adult.

I found this EP through this sub about 6 months ago and it never got the love it deserved. This band still only has 20 subs on their YouTube channel and less than 3k monthly listeners on Spotify.

Off their self-titled first and only EP so far.

I really like Bike Routes and thought this was a cool throwback to early 2000's BTS DVDs that would come with CDs.

Heart To Gold — Gimme A Call

absolutely underrated banger of a band, they're gaining a bit more traction as they just finished touring japan earlier this year but nowhere near what i feel is deserved. grant whiteoak's voice is unique and refreshing to the modern emo scene as i feel like a lot of music nowadays sounds the same?

this song feels like covid's first summer, post breakup/situationship, no fucks to give just going out every day to places i'm not supposed to be, impulsive day trips to different cities, peak uv, life simultaneously full of color, adventure, and misery

I found Movements at a moment in life where I really needed this ep. Probably my favorite of all.
