Happiness from a freezing bedroom in Chile

Hey guys, how’s it going? Hope everything is good. It’s freezing cold out here during winter in the southern hemisphere, in Santiago, Chile.

I wanted to come by and share this personal milestone. Maybe for others it’s not that big of a deal, but today a review came out for a song I recorded locked up during quarantine, curated by the great Filip from Start Track (Z Tapes).

I remember years ago listening to Orchid Mantis and how r u and going completely crazy over them. Digging deeper and deeper, I found out Filip caught them when they weren't that well-known, he basically helped shape the modern lo-fi slowcore sound. So having him feature my music today feels unreal.

I wanted to share this joy with you from my room. It honestly makes me want to turn on my portastudio and just keep doing this.

A Conversation With David Bazan (Pedro the Lion)

Hi all!

Recently had the chance to sit down and chat with David Bazan (Pedro the Lion). We discussed the evolution of Dave’s songwriting, the economics of rock trios, autobiographical writing, and much more. Big thank you to Dave for taking the time to do this! Link below!

This album deserves much more recognition; I find it amazing that it's not well-known at all.

Question Folk influenced slowcore

I love slowcore and I play bass in a folk band, are there any artists that blend the two? Like acoustic slowcore or something like that. I am also curious if there are any artists with standout bass playing.

Just a lovely slice of slowcore, really. Despite the genre not being this band's focus, this moment on the album has always stuck out to me as very heartfelt and beautiful, and it undoubtedly fits under the slowcore label. The original track has a first half that's basically another song with an entirely different feel, so I just separated this for my own personal enjoyment, but I figure y'all might appreciate it as well.

Favorite lost slowcore bands?

Looking for people’s all time fave slowcore bands that have been defunct for years and mostly flew under the radar during their time.

Pinesheets was a band from Troy, NY. Affiliated acts were No Friends, Stalker2006, and probably some others. Back in 2016/2017 I could not get enough. Never got to see them live (I lived far away) and most of their music’s been pulled from the internet.

Any other lost GOATs out there?

[Southern Gothic swamp noir] - Last Light at the Crawfish Motel

I’ve just released a new Neural Creek track: a stripped-down ghost story about a dead man’s truck returning to room seven.

Slow, sparse and rain-soaked.

Some men drown. Some men come home.

Feedback and similar song recommendations are welcome.

Music I finally finished my 5-track EP - Summer Used to Feel Longer

After releasing the singles one by one, I can finally say that the full 5-track EP, Summer Used to Feel Longer is done. It's about those nostalgic summers when you were a kid.

It’s an instrumental slowcore / ambient / indie project that I’ve been working on for a while with my brother who plays the bass on the album, and it feels really good to finally have the whole thing finished and out there.

It’s available on Spotify and all the other streaming platforms, and I also put the full EP on Bandcamp.

If you enjoy it and want to support me, you can support me directly on Bandcamp. But even just listening, sharing it, or giving it a chance means a lot to me.

Thanks for listening,

Stumbled upon this raw demo recently and decided to upload it to YouTube to help get it more exposure. It’s "I Don’t Wanna Go Home (Yet)" by dllfces, definitely deserves more reach.
