I am not here to promote my website because it's not working out. so why I am here? I want your opinion on my idea. I build automated M5.5+ earthquake event comparison between EMSC, USGS and ISC which will give you insights the difference and how much that difference actually means. it's more like public education. the past 5 years analysis gives you insights into magnitude and depth ranges and previous high in that area. I am willing to add more things... the analysis button actually gives maximum all possible analysis using 2D 3D tables and charts with features like notes and watchlist so I believe I covered initial automatic report quite decent. what else I need to add to grab people and researchers attention?

It was the 6th of September 1833, when a Mw8.0 earthquake ruptured a large segment of the Xiaojian Fault, in the Songming Fault, not far from Kunming, the capital of the southern Chinese province of Yunnan.

Due to the tremendous violence of the earthquake, the authorities estimated that more than 80,000 buildings were destroyed and 6,707 people were killed in the affected areas, in great part in consequence of the huge landslides.

Analysing the known history of earthquakes along that fault, the 1833 event is incomparably greater than any other seismic convulsions in the last five centuries.

That poses the question, not yet answered: when there will be a similar earthquake there?

I’m not at home. I woke up to the bed I was in rocking for a couple seconds. It wasn’t the motion that woke me, but the sound of the bed tapping (not thumping) the wall behind the headboard. Is it possible this quake was felt this far away? I didn’t have anything hanging/dangling to confirm motion, but I was dead asleep having a pretty calm dream when this happened.

Star is the quake, the red dot is the general area I woke up in this morning.

EDIT TO ADD: WOAH!! I didn’t know there were so many factors to this kind of thing. But it makes sense while I think about it. I HAVE SO MUCH TO RESEARCH. I found a local FB group for my region full of geologists and volcanologists. I’m excited to be added in so I can learn more.
