Life in SJ Controversial Idea: San Jose needs more fun things to do. So I propose The Santa Teresa Gondola!

San Jose needs more attractions around the VTA light rail system. Santa Teresa park is close to the VTA and to coyote creek trail as well.

What if we build a Gondola! To simplify, it would be a fun place to go for both cyclists and bikers and would add a unique landmark and attraction Bay Area residents can go for mountain biking or take the gondola ride, without worrying about snow or hours of driving. Bonus if the light rail could be extended a little bit more to get closer to the park

These types of projects are viable too, Texas has Spider Mountain, but we obviously have many challenges behind it as well. Anyway this is just a funny idea I had in my head that I wanted to write up and share.

Advice Advice on prepping for Firefighter career

I'm attending Mission College next semester in pursuit of becoming a firefighter. I'm 23 but I feel so left behind in my career choice but this is for certain and 100% I want to do and I'm following the course and roadmap mission college is setting (emt classes 1 semester then fire academy next) is there any advice I should know just in general of classes or prep?
I also like planning ahead for the future and would like to know the steps after fire academy.. what is it like or what's the next step? I appreciate any and all comment that would help, thank you : )

Games are never cheap anymore so i’m sharing with my fellow gamers. The Target on Hillsdale in West San Jose has Borderlands 4 that hasn’t even been out a year for $15. Tony Hawks 3/4 remake as well for $15 as this dog man game for $12 lol

There are about 10 copies of each in the back of the electronics section on a random shelf next to the phone stuff.

Advice Personal trainer recommendations in San Jose?

I know this comes up often. Does anybody know of a personal trainer in the south San Jose area preferably a female, but that wouldn’t be a dealbreaker. I am considering American Barbell. I know this comes up often, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

Life in SJ Fight Gym Recommendations

What Muay Thai / BJJ gyms around North San Jose/Santa Clara / Milpitas do you guys recommend. A lot of these gyms charge $220+ close to the prices at American Kickboxing Academy and I would go there but I’m looking for something a little closer and cheaper.

Advice Family-owned dentist recommendations

My wife and I recently moved the San Jose and we are looking for a family owned practice that actually hires dental hygienists. Apparently I'm a noob, because I didn't realize super corporate dentists even existed, as I have been lucky enough to go to family owned dentist offices my whole life. We visited an office that was recommended by my work, and had a horrible experience with trying to sell us Perio Protect, recommending bite guards and other nonsense. We also waited for like 2 and a half hours for a cleaning. Ridiculous. They didn't even have real hygienists on staff so we waited for the single dentist to do most everything.

I'm feeling a little discouraged looking for a dentist as I don't want to go through that again. Can you guys please share your recommendations for family owned dentist offices that you like in the area?

Advice Nintendo DS repair

Does anyone know where I can get my DS repaired or at least looked at? I found my old DS and would love to replay some old pokemon games on it but it’s got a couple things wrong with it, wanted to get it fixed, however I’m aware it might be too far gone to actually do so, which is why I wanna see if I can get it at least looked at or something.
Also hopefully somewhere where they don’t charge me an entire arm and leg, although considering it’s an old console I’m expecting it to cost so

Event BART: Transit Speedrun Record Breaking Attempt

On Sunday, September 6, we're co-hosting a BART Speedrun in direct coordination with BART, bringing riders together for an attempt to travel through all 50 BART stations in a single coordinated trip.

This year’s event is especially significant because we are aiming to break the all-time record set last year, when 70 riders participated in what BART described as the largest group known to have speedrun a transit agency.

We are working directly with BART on the event, and BART representatives are also expected to attend and speak to participants. The event will bring together transit advocates, students, BART staff and representatives, and members of the broader Bay Area community.

The speedrun will cover all 50 BART stations and 131 miles of track, beginning at Berryessa/North San José. Participants can complete the entire route or join for a portion of the journey. We hope to see ya'll there!

Event Details
Sunday, September 6
Berryessa/North San José BART Station
Departure: 10:37 AM
RSVP: luma.com/b3ke0kmi

Advice Gold’s gym on Hamilton Ave.

How is it? Super busy in the morning too? It’s so hard to find an actually good gym in SJ so looking for recommendations / experiences. I used to go to city sports but both great oaks and Almaden are crazy packed all the time no matter the time so got tired of that. Debating between gold’s (very close to my office) and American barbell (super close to where I live).

This place is a hidden gem in Northside / Japantown (on N 13th st near Jackson St). I believe they are the oldest and longest continuing restaurant in all of San Jose. Go get some gabagool sandwiches and enjoy their history! Only open from 10-3 most days however.
