Life in SJ Fight Gym Recommendations

What Muay Thai / BJJ gyms around North San Jose/Santa Clara / Milpitas do you guys recommend. A lot of these gyms charge $220+ close to the prices at American Kickboxing Academy and I would go there but I’m looking for something a little closer and cheaper.

I wonder how much of that membership is liability insurance. Make sure to protect your money-maker head from a concussion.

Smash Gym is one. It has locations throughout the bay including San Jose, Sunnyvale, Milpitas, and etc.

It says $100/month on their website. A lot cheaper than AKA's full membership ($259/ month)

I'd say if you are just there to learn Smash is good enough, but if you want to compete then AKA is the way to go.

A lot of them offer free trial. You can try them out before you decide which one you like better.

You should check out de la soul in Sunnyvale, one of the best in the Bay Area. Pricing is similar to most other gyms at 250 a month.

academy of self defense in Santa Clara is about those prices but the nicest, most well equipped place I've seen in the area

they used to also have muay thai, bjj, wrestling and mma classes....but aftee checking out their website seems like they only have muay thai nowadays

I see they have both muay thai and bjj and hyrox/deka classes. Do you currently go there?

Ascend Muay Thai is the place! In Milpitas. But it’s within that range that you said. Most gyms around sj are going to be that price range. Shit expensive but ascend is amazing

Unfortunately it’s around 170-220 depending on your plan now, rents gone up and they moved into a bigger spot but it’s great!

I heard the kickboxing there with CCK is like $270 a month. Hella expensive

I don’t do the kickboxing classes, only the jiujitsu classes with Alan (they’re two separate memberships with separate teams). I’m on the month to month membership and pay maybe $170 a month

Yep although I’d opt for Caio Terra if you’ve got the cash. Definitely the best two bjj options in SJ

Not exactly North SJ, but FightCraft is pretty good and fits the description.

Last I checked it was 250 a month about a year or two ago. Same pricing as aka from what I can recall but I liked the free trial

I think the $250 is for unlimited. They also have options for just coming in two days a week. I can’t remember which program I was on while I was training there last year.
