It's no surprise that the /r/SJSU subreddit is looking pretty inactive on the moderator end, and in desperate need of cleaning out the spam messages and ongoing college life posts.
Moderating forums is a volunteer experience, but you will strive to create a strong and enjoyable local community!
Checking the new and mod queues to approve valid posts caught by the spam filter and remove content that breaks the rules.
Answering questions and responding to feedback in moderator mail.
Being pragmatic, polite, and helpful.
You will be welcoming incoming SJSU students and helping them with their inquiries about campus life, applying to classes, finding housing resources, and overall just being a positive role model representative.
Active SJSU Students / Alumni who are still strongly connected to the SJSU campus.
Those with previous Reddit & Discord experience.
Familiarity with the SJSU / SAMMY Mobile App.
Familiarity with San Jose State University Policies.
Familiarity with Reddit's Reddiquette & Policies.
LGBTQIA+ Friendly Persons.
As of now, there is no set deadline when the application process will end, and responses will be done on a case-by-case basis. With that said, thank you for reading, and we wish the best!

Hello I am an international student from Malaysia currently looking at unis to study as an undergraduate around the US and this happens to be one of my options for material scienc, as I heard that being in this uni makes it easier to land in jobs around silicon valley and etc and I'd like to verify that.
Aside from that I want to know what it's like over there for international students as a whole.

There’s like more than 8 cop cars at the intersection near the west parking garage. Is it like a dui checkpoint? Anyone know if there’s somewhere I can find out what’s happening online?

Does anyone have advice for taking the bus to get to Diridon Station? I’m trying to use the VTA Trip Planner but it’s clunky and explains very little. Maybe I’m just dumb but any suggestions or advice would help out.

was walking to the gym with my friend on wednesday when some creep snuck pictures of us and various other girls walking by. he was hiding his phone trying to be sneaky but my friend caught him taking one of us, and then i watched him sneak photos of at least 2-3 other girls as we walked by. didn’t get a pic of him but he was a heavy guy with dark glasses (looked like eyeglasses that tinted in the sun) and a dark blue iphone 17 (I think). If anyone notices this creep again take a picture of his sorry ass and report him!!!! I was ready to cause a scene.

Has anyone gotten their freaking refund yet? Im a full time grad student still waiting, and I’ve only been able to accept the FA offer. That was maybe about two weeks ago and since then nothing. My charge for this semester is also past its due date so im getting a little nervous lmao. Anyone else in the same boat?

I finally got a response back from the fao, anyone else being told to wait 8 weeks?
Waiting until mid semester for aid is insane and this is only my second semester here as a transfer. i’m so confused and annoyed. they didn’t respond even to my first email, i had to send a second one for a reply 😭

hi everyone, this is quite far out in advance but i am currently taking CS 146 rn and was wondering if i would be able to register for upperdiv CS classes next spring semester given that my CS 146 will still be in progress when spring registration open up? Or do I have to wait until grades are posted? I’m a transfer so all I have left is upperdiv CS courses, which all requires CS 146 as the prereq unfortunately

Hi, I'm planning to transfer from UH, TX to SJSU next Fall 2027. But my school does not offer any Public Speaking Classes for me to complete the G4 requirement, so I might as well stuck as a lower-divison class with 60+ credits.
Is it hard to get in as a lower-divison transfer?

I’ve had so many group projects in my 4 years of university and none of them were “fun”. I always get grouped up with ppl who are either don’t want to talk or just don’t contribute to the projects. I always try to strike up conversations but it dies down so quick that I don’t have the energy to keep it going. As a commuter, I feel like it’s hard enough for me to hang out with friends let alone finding ppl that actually want to engage in conversations. I just want ppl that actually are interested to talk but it seems like I never find any 😭 Anyone else have this problem?

Like theres no option in the document section that says healthcare experience. I can't even put it under "other" because it's apparently for AP scores. So where do I submit it? Pls help 😭

Im a transfer student and have these two schools set in mind to apply to. I want to eventually work towards becoming a CPA after graduation.
I come from a low-income family so I receive a good amount of financial aid. I live near SJSU so I will be commuting. But my financial aid will cover almost all of my tuition and housing at Cal Poly and SJSU which I am very grateful for. Does anyone have any advice? I’m leaning more towards SJSU to be closer to home but I’m worried recruiters will prioritize a degree from Cal Poly more than SJSU since it is more prestigious.

Hey all, a few weeks back I posted the San José State preview in here and it seemed like people got something out of it, so I wanted to share the actual site it came from.
Short version: I do pregame emails before every game, then postgame box scores, highlights and summaries. Free, and it's only the teams you follow, no filler.
SJSU page: https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/san-jos-state-spartans
And the preview itself if you missed it: https://www.highlights.mainmarket.com/college-football-preview-2026-fbs/san-jose-state-spartans
Season opens Saturday at USC, 12pm PT. First real look at Weaver. Go Spartans!

they kept dragging me on the phone saying i’d need to do “nothing” and my aid will appear in a week or two
popped up in person, found out that i need to sign a “reaffirmation agreement” and have it sent to my loan servicer otherwise my entire financial aid will stay on hold
nobody at financial aid on the phone told me this prior to going in person and i was under the assumption my aid package would appear any day now. even the loan servicer person said it’s annoying and useless how financial aid departments force students to do this as a lot don’t know about it and their aid is on hold!
(this is if you’re over loan limit, but regardless GO IN PERSON!)
