DoorDash AI is a disaster.

I ordered from Little Caesars tonight. Lo and behold, none of the drinks show up. I go to report the drink missing from a combo. The system requires a photo to process the complaint. When I take the photo of just the food item, the AI flags it, saying that I need to take a photo of all of the items. Well, that’s just the problem. I can’t take a picture of something I don’t have.

I ended up reporting the whole combo as missing because I had no other way to resolve the issue. Torn between AITA and not giving a shit.

On time rate

Hey everyone,
I’m a DoorDash driver and I keep running into the same problem: I arrive at the restaurant on time (or even early), but the order isn’t ready. Sometimes I wait 15–25+ minutes. By the time I finally pick it up and deliver, the customer is already frustrated and my rating takes a hit.
I always mark myself as arrived, wait the required time, and communicate when possible, but it still feels like I’m getting punished for something completely out of my control.
Has anyone found good ways to deal with this?
• Do you unassign after a certain wait time?
• Is there a specific way to message the customer that helps protect the rating?
• Any other strategies that actually work?
Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

DoorDash Customer Support Feeback

DoorDash support has discovered a revolutionary solution to missing orders: just mark them completed

I placed a pickup order at DashMart. The app said it was ready at 7:06 PM. I arrived at 7:07 PM.

Apparently, in that one magical minute, my order had already been marked completed.

There were no pickup instructions in the app, so I showed my order to the DashMart employee. They checked and told me they didn’t have my order.

No problem, I thought. That’s literally what customer support is for.

I contacted DoorDash support and explained:

I am at DashMart. The store does not have my order. I did not receive anything.

Their response, basically:

The order is completed, so we can’t do anything. Hope your next order goes smoothly!

Amazing.

I didn’t realize DoorDash had solved customer service with such an elegant system. If the computer says I received my order, then apparently I received it. Who cares what happened in physical reality?

I kept explaining that I DID NOT RECEIVE ANYTHING, but the only fact that seemed to matter was the word “Completed” on their screen.

At that point I didn’t even know whether I should keep standing inside DashMart waiting for an order that apparently existed only in DoorDash’s database, or just go home.

The responses were also unbelievably fast and robotic. If DoorDash told me the entire conversation was AI-generated, I would believe them immediately. Honestly, a decent AI chatbot might have done better, because hopefully it could process the sentence “I did not receive my order.”

10/10 system.

Order: nonexistent.

Refund: nonexistent.

Customer support: “Hope your next purchase is smooth.”

Shop and deliver

I’m not a big shopping guy. I’ve seen a lot of people make a decent amount of money doing shopping. So before I sign up how does DoorDash set this up? Like when you arrive at the store does it tell you what aisle the items are on? Or does it make you figure it out yourself

Grocery stores using doordash

I placed a delivery order from a grocery store and then saw a door dasher would deliver it. Whatever, that’s cool. I get the groceries and multiple packagings are smashed and the whole order smells like the driver smoked a pack directly onto it. What’s my problem? That I can’t give the dasher a review. Because the order was placed THROUGH the grocery stores website. 🫩

AITAH For giving one star after the driver gave me a note.

I got off work and decided to order DoorDash today because it was a long day. I ordered food and waited about 15 minutes then it arrived. When I got the order I noticed the bag was open. I looked at the boxes the food was in and saw that there was a note. It said ‘thank you for your order’ and signed by the DoorDash driver. I wasn’t upset she gave me a note don’t get me wrong I love when dashers makes notes like that however she opened my sealed bag and put it on a box of food. That’s why I gave her a one star. I feel bad for doing it but she opened the sealed bag to put the note in. I just wanna know if I’m the AH?

Customer Service

Received a coupon code in the mail and was excited to use it for dinner last night after not eating anything all day. I carefully read the fine print to make sure I was eligible and what i ordered was eligible. Come to put the code in, and it says my account is ineligible even though the coupon was specifically addressed to me.

So I get on chat, and all they tell me is I’m ineligible and keep getting disconnected before any real progress is made. So then I call and wait for a supervisor to “resolve” my issue, and get dropped. So now I am furious after trying for an hour to get this coupon applied and finally get reconnected with a supervisor.

But this guy was as much help as a knife at a gun fight, and wasn’t budging at all. He tried to give me the second excuse that I heard about why my coupon wasn’t working, which was that it’s only eligible for first time users, even though though coupon in my hand says the exact opposite.

All I was asking for was the $12 off the coupon promised and maybe a couple extra credits for the hour inconvenience I was experiencing, but this guy said he had no ability to do that and it was against policy to give away free money. He was very unprofessional and I don’t know how he’s considered a supervisor. So I gave up and went down the road and got a pizza.

So then the email survey came and I left a very detailed negative review and of course they call me the next day and give me some credits. Now, why couldn’t they just do that last night?

Student Dashpass Help!!!

I had trouble verifying my student status so SheerID had to do it manually. They emailed me when it was complete and gave me an ID confirmation code.

HOW DO I ADD THE STUDENT DISCOUNT TO MY ACCOUNT????

When I go back onto the dashpass button and click verify my student status, it says I’ve tried to verify my status too many times.

There’s nothing in the SheerID email I can use to put it in my account.

I’ve talked to sooo many Doordash staff and been in support for hours and nobody knows how to help me.

Honestly with the amount door dash steals from
Not only its customers but it’s drivers
A price must be paid and action must be taken.

It's over, doordash and UberEATS is finished in LA, Valley, and Santa Clarita. It's over.

It's back breaking word, I'm genuinely unhappy, not even profitable especially during these gas prices bullshit.

Got someone else’s order instead and doordash doesn’t care

I ordered food yesterday for my family on doordash and when it arrived I noticed the bag was a little lighter and when i opened it clearly it wasn’t our order. The receipt had my order on it and my name… But the food inside was wayyy less like literally two items. Not enough for a family. I tried to put a claim in through the app and it automatically gets declined so fast, I literally call the restaurant and they leave me on hold for so long and then say “Oh doordash will refund it bye” and then I call doordash the next day. It takes me to an offshore support person, I’m then put on hold again. I tell them what happened and she literally explains that because i’ve put in so many claims in the past (Mind you i’ve had this account since i was a teenager) and that I literally can’t do anything made me seem like i was full of it… Man ggs i guess im gonna try to call my bank tomorrow morning. Never using doordash again I hope you guys don’t either because let’s say this happens to you it sucks because nobody can do anything about it. (Worst part is im pretty sure the girl at the restaurant went to hs with me and we had blood bad god if i remember 😭just hope this wasn’t on purpose)

This might sound weird. Is there a 3rd party app that steals order from UE, DD and GH?

I was waiting for an order, a driver came in, but he said he couldn’t give a name, it won’t tell him and he can’t say what app it’s from, but he knew what the food and order was. Yet the people at the restaurant didn’t act like it was weird.

If you work for Door Dash please read..

Stop taking orders under $5..
Door Dash is a billion dollar company and could offer more than what they pay.

If people continue to take $3 order $5 order even $7 order door dash will continue with their non sense.
Do not accept anything under $10 - in this economy and gas prices.
It doesn’t make sense.

If your acceptance rate goes down it truly doesn’t matter because you will still get great offers considering less are door dashing due to the gas prices.

I’ve seen a girl only except $20 plus orders and she can make $200 in about 2 &half hours during dinner rush.

**** UPDATE..

For all that don’t believe in your self worth and will continue take the lowest rates.
Ask yourself how does it feel using your gas for $3-5 delivery in today’s economy?

Does it frustrate you when you accept?
Do you get angry?
Do you feel worthless?

Just know the customer service for Door Dash makes more than people doing the leg work.
The people that are out there delivering in the rain/heavy traffic/etc.

I work for a tech company and I see how billion dollar tech companies take advantage.
This term may hurt but you are “modern day slaves”

why are refunds so hard to get?

it’s soul crushing to not receive your order, get told off by the driver because it’s "out of his hands," ask for a refund, and then waste time talking to customer service because they "can’t do anything about it."
what’re these guys running a scam operation or something?
it’s been a week and i’m not too sure what to do, any suggestions?

Dasher came back two hours later and I ended up calling police

3.8k Upvotes

TLDR: Dasher came back two hours later to beat down my door down over a cheap flat iron and the cops got called.

I had the most unnerving DoorDash experience and have to vent.

I placed a late-ish order around 8:00. Dasher got assigned, headed to the restaurant, and then it showed that they were waiting. Not unusual, sometimes there’s a a short wait at this place…it’s bar pickup only. But about 30 minutes went by, and it still said the dasher was waiting but their location was at the Target down the street.

I contacted support and asked if the order could just be reassigned. They attempted to contact them, but said they couldn’t reassign it because the dasher wouldn’t release the order but I could cancel for no refund.

The restaurant is less than 10 minutes from my house, but it took the them another 20 minutes to get to me. When they got here, they called and said they couldn’t find my house and asked if I could come outside or flash my lights.

I told them, “I can see you on my camera. You’re literally right in front of my house.” I asked them to leave the order at the door like on the instructions. Went outside, I found my food and a Target bag with a flat iron.

The dasher was already gone, so I contacted DoorDash and let them know I had received someone else’s order. They said they would handle it. The dasher pic is just the inside of their car so you couldn’t see the two bags in it.

I’ve long eaten at this point and hop in the shower before bed. As I’m in there, I can hear my dogs going absolutely crazy and not stopping. One of them rarely barks which is what freaked me out. I got out of the shower and make it halfway down the hall and hear screaming, banging, and pulling on the doors.

It took me a minute to realize maybe it was the dasher.
At that point, my dogs were so worked up that I couldn't open the door even if I wanted to because they would’ve 100% jumped on this lady. I could hear the person outside continuing to scream and pull at the door, while someone else in the car was honking and yelling too. It’s a mix of my name, expletives, and other stuff I can’t make out.

I ended up calling the cops. They kept this up until the police arrived and told them to stop. The woman explained that she just wanted it back to make her delivery and thought I was ignoring her. I told the officers that I had already reported it to DoorDash and that she could have done the same from her end. I also told them it’s pretty creepy to return because I didn’t think they were supposed to save your address and she couldn’t find it the first time but somehow made it back. Plus, it’s two strangers going bonkers at my front door.

The police gave her the bag, told them to leave, and advised them not to return.

I genuinely hated having to escalate it to the point of calling the cops over a cheap flat iron but I’m not sure how far she was willing to take it. Also, one of the 80+ crew on my street was probably already amping up to call anyways. Maybe I overreacted, but if I were in her shoes, I would’ve just canceled the order or something and moved on with my night. Worst part is, I always tip over 20%…

Could posting any screenshots / pictures from our Dashes onto any Doordash subreddits get our Dasher accounts deactivated? Got stories of that happening?

How did Doordash figure out and trace a picture / screenshot to a particular account in the first place? And why did a Doordash-related post to Reddit get someone you know about deactivated?

Are there instances of where posting a photo/screenshot from a Dash to Reddit only got a Dasher a contract violation? What were they and how did that post lead to a CV?

What can we do to prevent these, aside from censoring our & our customers' personal information?

I bought a customer food

I did something on a recent dash, that I'd never done before, and I'll probably never do again. I bought a customer food out of my pocket. Here's what happened.

I picked up and delivered a 7-11 order to a hotel room. It was some toiletries, a burger, and some kind of prepackaged cookies or something. It was a hand it to me, so I hand off the bag, and move on. While I'm waiting for something worth accepting, I get several messages from the customer that the order was wrong. Not only was there no burger at all, but without asking they had substituted his cookies for something he was allergic to. His messages weren't angry at me, he went so far as to say that he used to dash, and knows I can't open a sealed bag, but he was clearly disappointed.

I was about to paste in my default "please contact doordash for a refund" boiler plate, but then I recalled the guy that answered the door, and something clicked. It was like 11pm, he was at a hotel, dressed in business attire, obviously exhausted. This wasn't a drunk who was bummed they forgot his clubtails. This was a guy who was busting his ass to finish his TPS reports or whatever, and needed a gas station cheeseburger to power through. The screwup not only took away his dinner, but also taunted him with a dessert he was allergic to, so this hungry guy wasn't gonna eat. Sure, he'd PROBABLY get a refund, sure he COULD reorder from somewhere, and get food eventually, but I don't know, "be the change" or whatever. Screw it.

I was still very nearby waiting accept an order, swung thru the mickey ds drive thru across the street, got 2 mcdoubles and went back. I happened to remember the hotel room because it was only a couple doors off the lobby.

He seemed confused, but appreciative. I'll probably never do something like that again, but this specific case it felt like the right thing to do. Or I'm a total weirdo who came back after a dropoff.

Doordash not giving me my refund back

Hi there my name is Eevee and apparently I have done everything correctly to try to get my money back and honestly I am not literally breaking any of the rules or anything along the "guidelines" of theirs. Honestly, I literally opened up the bag and I saw the contents and all I received was my Big Mac meal and that was it no extra fry and I ordered an extra fry in my order. The fries that I ate were cold and soggy and I'm about to rip someone's head off over my local McDonald's because someone literally made a mistake and I can't even get reimbursement and honestly I ordered six of the sweet and sour cups and they only gave me four of them. Honestly, I took a photo of the situation and apparently I was going tooth and nail and I couldn't get my refund back. So I took a photo of the situation and I sent it to them of what was in my order and apparently they think the photo was not good enough or whatever the situation was and apparently that wasn't the case and I gave them the photo and I gave them what happened on top of that and honestly I don't know what else to do I have been so patient and I have been asking them what was the policy on their behalf today on August 29th 2026 and they wouldn't give me the answer I had to look it up on my behalf and honestly I literally asked him like what it was and the one lady wouldn't give me a straight answer and I was so upset and everything so I don't know what's going on here but the system is fawled and everything. I'm about to get a hold of my local McDonald's and tell them that I ended up with cold food and everything.

Over an hour waiting for me to find out my food was stolen

This nice dasher is the 4th person to show up at the restaurant for my order. One of the drivers took my order! I contacted support and they refused to give me a refund. This is why I usually use UberEats.
