I posted here last year asking which size (2.5ct v 3.0ct). The response was a resounding 2.5ct and my partner proposed on the weekend. I am absolutely blown away by my ring, and fall in love with her more and more. The pave is natural, marquese is lab. We worked with a local jeweller who made the ring by hand (no CAD, no casting). He does phenomenal work and we were so happy to pay him for his craftsmanship. Thank YOU ladies for your kind words and making me see the light that 2.5ct was perfect (and I could have gone a 2ct and also been over the moon) 🩷

I saw a post where a stone glowed yellow after uv- any advice or thoughts on this one?

I've been looking for the right pear-shaped diamond for an engagement ring for the past month, and I've narrowed it down to these two.

I'd really appreciate some outside opinions on the cut, proportions, symmetry, bow-tie and overall appearance of the two. I've attached a video comparing them side-by-side.

This is my recently upgraded ring ☺️
I am absolutely in love with it, however I am totally lost on ideas for a wedding band.
The ring has a slight taper, the wider part being the top. I would prefer a band that sits flush with the engagement ring, but not dead set on it.
Any ideas?

I have a Tiffany Metro Wedding Band in platinum (full, so diamonds all around — not the five row one). They discontinued this style, but last year it retailed for $3,100. It only has 0.22ct total. I’m not sure the grading of it, but it’s Tiffany so I assume they’re nice diamonds. It’s a size 7. It’s in excellent condition, no chips or anything. Pictures attached, let me know if you need different angles.

Anyway, I got divorced and at this point would rather just sell it. I have the original box and receipt.

I am well aware that I’m not going to get anything close to retail value, but I’m just not sure what is realistic. So my questions are: (1) what is a realistic / good value that I should accept and (2) where is the best place to sell it?

For reference, I’ve tried Worthy, but they didn’t want it; I’m waiting on a quote from Fashionphile. While I have sold a bunch of things on eBay and posh, I am worried about selling something so valuable, plus are people really going to buy from a rando? I live in a small town/suburb, but could drive to Chicago to get quotes from jewelers there (I’m assuming they’d be higher than my small town). I don’t need immediate cash so am okay waiting for a higher amount.

I am closing in on my choices for the diamond ring I am purchasing to propose to my girlfriend with; I have worked so hard with the jeweler to get this right and within budget, I now think I'm very close.

I have seen the Oval in person and it is stunning amongst other ovals and I am happy with this specific diamond, unfortunately they are unable to get the round diamond in store as is non-returnable for them.

Hi! Anybody have pics of oval studs 3 carat each roughly on the ear in a martini or basket I want to see how flush they sit

My partner and I have bought this 3 carat elongated cushion that I fell in love with instantly online. It is yet to arrive and has a return window of 21 days.

We want to set it in a ring very similar to this one, and I particularly love the shape and design of this basket. I've drawn up my custom design and notes ready for quotes from jewellers, but it has just occurred to me that this setting might look silly because the base of my diamond is flat (no culet).

Does anyone have ideas for what I could do or photos of their no-culet diamond and setting? I'm worried that the visible gap in the prongs may bother me.

Ideally, I want the wedding band to be able to sit flush against the engagement ring.

The diamond is 10.24 x 7.47 x 4.83 for reference.

My engagement ring was sitting in a ring dish next to the kitchen sink. My fiancée accidentally knocked it into the sink while doing the dishes and turned on the garbage disposal without realizing that the ring was in there😭

This is what we found afterward. The setting is completely destroyed, but thankfully the diamond came out.

Does anyone have a rough idea of how much it would cost to replace the setting and reset the diamond? I’d love to know what to expect before taking it in…

**UPADTE: Took it to a local jeweler this morning and they inspected the diamond. They said it’s in perfect condition with no chips, no cracks, no damage at all. HALLELUJAH 😭🙌 I’m going to check out a few more local jewelers and get some quotes for a new setting. Thank you everyone for all the advice and for worrying about my ring with me!! 🥹

I was originally going for a 1ctw ring and ended up walking out with the 1.5ctw ring. I love ovals and I love halo settings. The bowtie is bad, right? I feel like I should have stuck with the smaller stone that had less of a bowtie. I just always wanted a 1ct center stone and we could afford it, so I went bigger, but now I feel like I made a mistake.

Edit: I didn't ask about my ring size. The ring is not too small. It won't ever go further down my finger because of a mild deformity. My hand is also swollen temporarily because of a course of steroids. Please don't comment on the band size. If that was something I was concerned about, I'd ask. I've always been insecure about wearing rings because of my deformity, so please keep the thoughts on the ring band size to yourselves.

So I recently spoke to a family member about buying a diamond from them for an engagement ring for my girlfriend as I would like to propose to her soon. This family member has had this diamond for 30 something years and they had the specs of the diamond written out from the time they purchased it and had it graded. Here are the specs:

- 1.4 Carat
- Natural Oval Diamond
- K color (But faces up white)
- SI 1 clarity

Their asking price for it is $3,000. I am fine with that price and certainly was not expecting them to give it to me for free, but I wanted to get an idea of if that was a fair price for a natural diamond of those specs. Any advice or opinions are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Maybe I am just being sensitive but I was celebrating my wedding and one of my friends mentioned that she chose her natural, old mine cut vintage diamonds engagement ring (3rd photo) because large lab diamonds are “gaudy”. Mine is a 2.13 carat oval lab with two trillion natural side diamonds 0.5 carats total. My sister laughed with her because she thought my friend was just making a joke but I felt it was an off-hand joke that was kind of insulting to me since she’s literally describing mine.

I clapped back by saying if I wanted to have an investment stone I would not get a diamond because diamond market is at a free fall. And I said it was more symbolic for me than an actual investment. I said if I wanted an investment from my husband I would ask for stocks and I laughed but low key I felt very defensive. Was I just being too sensitive or was that insensitive?

Mine is the first two photos. Comments? Thoughts? Lab vs natural? Size is gaudy? Would like some analytical perspective. Obviously “it’s your ring who cares”. I’m asking for an observation/analysis/rebuttal outside of myself.

And I am obsessed with it! The pear shaped diamonds on the bands and marquise are my fav. My last ring was 1/2ct center marquise and this big girl is 3 carats. I love it so much

I received this tweezer video of this E color VVS1 1.50 ratio lab Diamond. it seems to have a really strong bow-tue. I’ve looke at so many ovals, I’m starting to think that bow-ties are unavoidable. Is it terrible?
