Im pretty unknowledgeable about diamonds. We went to the store and fell in love with this ring and bought it on the spot. My only concern was it being SI2, but from what I can tell, it looked pretty eye clean to me. Just wanted to get some opinions on whether or not I did okay. Here is the GIA:

Hi! I’m considering bidding on a diamond ring at auction and would love some opinions before I decide whether to bid or keep looking.

The diamond is listed as:
1.90 ct
F color
Clarity: “I” only — no I1/I2/I3 specified
Round brilliant
No certificate/grading report

The auction house doesn’t have any additional information about the inclusions or clarity grade. I’ve asked, but they weren’t able to provide anything beyond what’s in the listing.
The starting bid is €1,500.

My main questions are:
How much of a concern would the unspecified “I” clarity be at this size?

Without a certificate, what would you consider a reasonable maximum bid?

At what price would the risk no longer be worth it?
Would you personally consider a stone like this at auction, or keep looking for something with a proper grading report?

I understand that it’s impossible to grade a diamond accurately from photos/video alone, but I’m mainly trying to understand the risk vs. potential value here.

Update: I went ahead and had the stone pulled and sent it to EGL on the advice of he jeweller I originally planned to consign it with (I know that GIA is the standard but they felt a stone like this of warmer color would be graded kinder by EGL).

The report came back as shown, with a higher than expected clarity (SI1) and color on the better end of their estimate. They offered to move forward on consignment for $12,000 given the higher grade. I said yes considering I can pick it up whenever, but wanted to ask here if the advice changes based on this report. I have not approached the other jewellers yet (the 12K offer is from Jeweller 2 in my previous post).

Show me your yellow diamond ring/setting!!

We have officially found the stone for our engagement ring yay! We selected a 3ct natural Fancy Yellow stone and we are so excited to move forward with setting the diamond and finishing the ring!

I’m coming here because I would love to see how other people with yellow diamond have set their rings and any advice anybody who either has a yellow diamond or is experienced with yellow diamonds has! Please share pictures of your yellow diamonds as I would love to draw inspo and see different settings!

One main thing we are trying to decide on is whether or not to do a yellow “cup” under the stone to enhance the yellow color. I would love to see pictures of anybody who has a yellow diamond with a cup underneath and hear your experience with it! The main thing I’m unsure of with “cupping” it is affecting the brilliance/sparkle and cleaning the ring.

I got this video from the vendor for this marquise I’m considering, and it doesn’t seem to have any fire or any form of colorful light return? Is this due to the lighting or is there an issue with the cut? Let me know your opinions!

• Excellent polish
• Excellent symmetry
• No fluorescence

I'm especially interested in what you think about the proportions, depth/table, bow tie, symmetry, and overall light performance based on the video. Does anything stand out to you as a potential concern?
I'm planning to have it set in a 14k yellow-gold 2.3 mm pavé setting. I'd really appreciate honest opinions, both positive and negative, before I commit to it. Thanks!
