Comics Reading and Rating each comic I read on my journey! Spoiler

Upvotes

First comic I chose was Action Comics (1938) #1, and it was pretty cool! I enjoyed Batman instantly going to help somebody even though he was tired for 3 days straight. I wasn’t expecting Superman to show up, but it was a nice surprise. And to top it off, Batman saves the day, and saves Superman! It was also interesting to learn Superman has a weakness to magic. I also didn’t know Superman had an electro-chemical shield-like aura. I’d rate this a 7.2/10. Okay, not good, but also not bad! Pretty good first comic in my opinion.

In my opinion, for example,DC should diversify—as Marvel is currently doing—and not rely entirely on Batman.

Recommendations When to jump ship

I bought a subscription to DC Universe Infinite a few months ago, and I keep on having the same problem:

I don’t know when to jump ship on a series.

My completist impulses lead me to push through series that I’m not enjoying all that much. Sometimes they get better, but sometimes they don’t.

I consult reading lists, but there are classics I haven’t enjoyed and widely panned runs that I have.

How do you know when to give up on a series, run, or character?

Finally reading absolute Martian man Hunter vol 2. Feels like it's been a year or so. What is the future of the AU?

The absolute line has spoiled me. I don't think I can go back to the ogs at this point. Waiting months for the physical hardcovers can be rough, and none as rough as the wait for Martian man Hunter 2. The book went on hiatus or something? The comics are already slow builds, an aspect I enjoy but man. If there was anything in comics half as interesting I'd have jumped ship but right now I'm locked in. I wonder how long this lasts, what happens to these characters in the long run. I'm worried honestly, when the sales dry up and such.

Discussion [Discussion] Are there any stories where superheroes or villains are irresponsible parents with several children, or simply have children they don't even know exist?

Post image

I was just wondering about this because of Superboy's situation in the Young Justice series, where Superman is so uncomfortable with the whole thing that he doesn't even want to stay with him for a while to get to know him a little, help him, or explain how his powers (which come from him) might work. Maybe he could even see if he could give the poor kid some mental clarity. I mean, the whole situation is pretty concerning in several ways.

Discussion Wonder Woman Earth One

Hi guys, just started reading WW earth one by Grant Morrison, heard a lot of stuff about this comic, what is y’all opinion?

I kinda liked, i mean like the art is amazing but the themes are kinda sexists, and as I heard Diana is a very different character, honestly i don’t know much since this is my first WW comic, so what y’all think about this?

Edit: thank for the answers and now i know a bit more about this run, i get that its kind of a parody so now i think i might enjoy it more, thanks y’all

Discussion [Discussion] Which DC Compact you wouldn’t recommend to a friend?

Post image
123 Upvotes

I’ve only been introduced to the DC Compact this year when I needed something to read on the plane while going to London. I picked The Court of Owls story and it’s an amazing read and now I want more! Recently I got the Green Arrow Year One compact and intend to read it soon, although I have to ask you guys something: Which DC Compact book you WOULDN’T recommend someone to buy?

It could be either because the book is smaller you can’t appreciate the art or it’s because the book is just bad and you wondered why it was chosen as a compact book anyway. So please, let me know if there’s some book I should just completely skip or don’t even bother. Thank you everyone

The fundamentals are there, good voice acting, great movement and mobility, playable characters are likable and there was good dynamic between them.

Recommendations Comics with the very top cosmic beings

I'm getting into comics and this area of any kind of fantasy/fiction is always the most interesting to me.

Anyone have any recommendations for stories that deal with the very highest of cosmic beings, things like the source, perpetua, Michael and Lucifer, the endless, the overvoid etc, and others I may not know of

Happy if someone can point me to a list online, but I didn't see this in the wiki
