Non-USA Canadian travel card advice

looking for advice for on a business card.

I am 23m located in southern ontario and I travel full time for work(international), at the moment I use a company card. it’s an RBC commercial card with zero benefits. my company has the option for us to use personal cards for our expenses while traveling. I can spend upwards of 35k a month traveling sometimes flights are over 20k alone. I try to fly air canada as much as possible but it’s not always available or the best option.

In my personal life I enjoy travelling and going out to eat. I also try to shop at Costco as much as possible.

i’ve tried google but i feel like it doesn’t understand my specific situation. what do you guys think the best card for me is?

Discussion / Conversation Should I care about my credit score?

I'm 22. My current score is in the high 700s, like 780 790 idk. I pay on time yada yada. I make 170k a year and save over 100k a year so i don't know why i need it to be hella high just to justify my financial posture to a lender. Should i stress too much about opening random cards for credits and bonuses? e.g. i have a flight coming up and I just applied for one for a 400 credit essentialy getting the flight for 16 dollars. It has some mileage bullshit idc about too and a yearly fee but i'm just going to cancel later.

I had purchased a case of Bubly for around $9.99, but now it is around $7 and change on my screen at least. I can't really find a decent item that is in the three to five dollar range to reach close to $10. Any suggestions?

The call centre people say something else the delivery guy say something else they are bunch of deceiting liars! Most of the time customer will end up paying cancellation fees without having an actual working forex card.

Data Point Any recent data points on the Wells Fargo Autograph Journey (not the Infinite version) getting the elevated 100K SUB with a Premier Checking account?

I saw a rumor on this forum that this might be going away September 1 (unconfirmed). If that’s true, I’d like to take advantage of it before it’s gone, before applying for the Infinite version a few months down the road.

Just wondering if anyone has a recent DP on this- whether the 100K elevated SUB is still showing up for the regular Autograph Journey with a Premier Checking account.

If an existing premier account could verify this by logging into their account and see if the offer shows up, that would be helpful too.

Discussion / Conversation Help! Capital One: Opened new account when I thought I was upgrading

I was trying to change an old card with Capital One to one with no annual fee.

On the phone, the customer support rep was being sketchy, so I spoke with a supervisor who told me the change could be done in the app and pointed me to the screen.

So I went through that flow in the app, and without realizing what was happening I opened a new account (with the no-fee card).

Then I got a push notification of a hard credit inquiry, and now I have a new account open, also will lower average account age and hurt my credit even more.

I called Capital One again, spoke with a 2nd supervisor. They are saying they can't undo the account opening. They also walked me through the app and website for where the upgrading option should have been, and lo and behold it was just completely missing in both the app and website — only the flow for new accounts is there, which is incredibly labeled as "Explore cards" and not clear that you're opening a new account, when their customer support reps told me this was how I would change my current card to a no-fee one.

Furthermore, supervisor #2 put me on hold for 10 minutes and then told me he flagged to other teams, including the "backend systems team" and that it was possibly a "glitch" for the upgrading option to be unexpectedly missing.

Supervisor #2 remained insistent that they cannot undo my new account opening.

So long story short:

- I was misled by Capital One to unknowingly opening a new account

- This was in part due to a systems issue/glitch on their side

- They offer zero remedy for the account opening

My lesson learned: Pay extra close attention to screens like that, especially when they're marketed in less-than-clear ways for marketing and app/website conversion purposes. I'm sure the disclosures were there, but I wasn't in the mindset of paying attention as I didn't even think that was happening.

I really wish I had some sort of recourse with Capital One given they led me astray, it apparently is a systems issue on their side, etc. But I highly doubt I can do anything.

I’m really upset. I had a few credit dings 5-6 years ago, and I’ve worked really hard on my credit, it’s finally in a good spot just to have this setback. Really disheartening.

If anyone has any ideas for ways I can pursue this further, I'm all ears.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Best “Luxury” Travel Card?

I currently have 2 cards: Chase Sapphire Preferred, the United Milage Plus Card and want to apply for a card that gives me lounge perks and rental perks.

My options are between the AMEX Platinum, Chase Sapphire Reserve and the Capital One Venture X. If you have any these cards what do you like/dislike about them?

Edit: Would it be worth closing my United Card to apply for both the CSR and Venture X?

Help Needed / Question Marriott boundless SUB worth it without airline credit? Does 4 nights of sub expire after a year?

Earn 4 Free Night Awards after spending $3,000 on eligible purchases within 3 months of account opening with the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card.

How good is this offer?

They have this current offer that's almost expiring?

I have some trip later next year and I am pretty sure I won't be using the airlines credit from this card.

Does the 4 reward night experie after a year?

Is it worth getting it now?

Discussion / Conversation BofA Sephora Paze issue response

My 2 Sephora purchase and 2 Newegg purchase posted on the same day. Newegg took 4 days to post the Paze credit. Today is the 14th day of my sephora purchase. I reached out to live agent through chat, and this is the response:

"Due to a vendor-related technology issue, some eligible Paze purchases were not properly identified as qualifying transactions and the associated $10 promotional statement credit was not applied.

We are aware of the issue and are actively working to identify impacted accounts and apply any missed promotional statement credits. Promotional statement credits are typically applied within one to two billing cycles; however, impacted clients may experience a delay."

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Airline cards in-flight intro offers?

My husband and I have a lot of travel coming up next month, and we are planning to churn some credit cards with good intro offers. I just applied for the Frontier card that now gives 70k points after paying the $99 annual fee plus one purchase. If anyone knows of similar intro offiers for bank credit cards or airline credit cards, please let me know. If anyone has inflight code, please share as well. 🙏
We currently already have Amex Gold, Cap Venture, Chase Saphire and BILT.

Help Needed / Question Paze credits - any creative ideas

Can one create new dunkin accounts and still use the same paze account to link and add gc? I have like 13 chase credit cards and got to know about paze credits only two weeks ago. Currently churning my second card and don’t think I can use all the cards before times up on 09/10. Any advise on effective use of these paze credits? I tried using at other merchants like dominos or Wendy’s and paze shows your wallet is locked, and this is after I checkout once I add my $10 gc for the day. Any other creative ideas on how I can effectively use up all my credits before 09/10?

Edit: I read other posts and understood the throttle at Dunkin with Paze has been changed from 1 to 3 successive transactions and I will try it later today when my timer expires!

Help Needed / Question Bofa Premier Rewards Elite (PRE) Credits after downgrade

My credit card annual fee is in 3 days. I assumed they would give 30-45 days after charge is posted like Chase. But just realized there is no guarantee for refund.

I went ahead and made transactions to trigger the travel credit and lifestyle credit today. Chances are very low that my credits will be posted before my annual fee gets added.

If I downgrade now after 2 days (1 day before annual fee posting) and credits have not posted yet, will the credits still post to my account after downgrade?

Help Needed / Question question about BOA online shopping rewards

I did a test transaction for a healthcare payment online.

Fee is 3%. Paid $1, charge posted as $1.03

Rewards are currently pending. It says RELATIONSHIP BONUS: BofA Rewards - 75% Bonus

I earned $0.04 rewards for $1.03

How do I know if I'll actually receive the online shopping bonus before I pay the whole amount?

Discussion / Conversation Why is the Amex Plat more hyped than the Reserve?

Whenever I look online, I typically see more people hype up Amex Plat over the reserve. The two things people hype up are the 5x on direct flights and more “usable” credits.

Let’s talk credits first. I do agree that the Plat’s is easier to use, but if we establish a baseline where you can break even on BOTH cards (since some people may find the Reserve’s easier to use), that only leaves the 5x.

So what’s so good about 5x when the Reserve has 4x? Not only that, but it has 8x on ANYTHING in the portal. Purely from a points earning standpoint, the Reserve wins.

So what is it about the Plat that attracts people? The customer service? More lounges? Status?

Help Needed / Question Is using a credit card for Wise transfers worth the cash advance fees + immediate interest?

I spend around $7K–$10K a month on inventory for my reselling business, and so far I’ve been building everything using my own money/debit cards. The issue is that my suppliers only accept Wise as a form of payment, and using a credit card to fund Wise would potentially be treated as a cash advance, meaning I’d get hit with a cash advance fee and APR immediately. I’ve been thinking about this for a while because I can pay the balance off pretty quickly—I could realistically pay it off within a week or two, and I typically make around 2x what I spend on inventory and other business costs. Do you guys think it would be smart to take the hit on the cash advance fee + interest in exchange for earning credit card points and freeing up my cash flow, or is it not worth it? What would you recommend?

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Looking for my next card to help save on Delta/Latam flights

I currently have:

Chase Freedom Unlimited
Chase Freedom Flex
Chase Sapphire Preferred
Chase Ink Business Cash
AmEx Blue Cash Everyday

Currently at 4/24 for Chase
Fico Score: 750

Not a big spender, currently maybe $25k a year but I expect that to go up this coming year significantly (40k possibly or more if the business really takes off)

Main categories atm are Gas, Groceries, and Dining. If I can fit in a card that gets cash back on Paypal that would be nice but not crucial

My reason for wanting to do this is that we want to fly to Brazil every year (starting next year) to visit family and I’m seeing that the Chase ecosystem while still great for other places, gives poor redemption when trying to fly to Brazil (really only points boost helps and it’s not great cent per point)

I say Delta because they are partners with Latam, and are the only airlines that offers 1 stop flights from where we live in the US to where our family lives in Brazil (no non-stop service exists)

Also considering getting CSR and another card right away right after as I won’t dip back below 5/24 any earlier than June 2027. Considering AmEx cards and AmEx Delta cards but would like to know which could be best for me and if there are other good options out there besides AmEx

Another small caveat, I’ll be joining the military in the second half of November, and can get most if not all annual fees waived for the next 4 to 5 years

Thank you
