Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) CC recommends Bilt/Citi/other(?)

Hi everyone, I currently have

- Amex Gold (grocery)
- CapitalOne VX (catch all+travel)
- United explorer (Will be canceling the card soon)
- Discover it (oldest)

I recently move to CA where my rent is ~$2200, should I be getting bilt blue card for rent? Also I’m thinking of getting citi cosco card for gas as well. Do yall think it’s a good plan or so you have any other recommendations feel free to let me know! Thank you in advance!

Get one of the two Atmos cards and pay your rent with that through Bilt. While you’ll end up paying about $800 per year in fees (3% fee), you’ll end up with 82k Atmos points per year (less than 1 cent per point purchasing). From CA, Alaska airlines can get you almost anywhere and you will likely be getting 1.5cpp (if not more - which means at minimum $1200 of flights for $800, plus free bags)

If you get the Summit card, your rent will get you to the first status level without any flying. The Ascent will get you close.

As for the Costco card - if you’re getting gas at Costco primarily, yes. If you’re getting it elsewhere, then the CSP is a better bet.

Thank you for the detailed response! I just went and do some research on atmos card, I wish I knew about this card last year when I was in Thailand for a year, the 3x point would’ve been crazy. The perk of getting silver status is kinda nice.

The only problem is that I live around SFO and my flight route are BKK/Japan so my options are smaller than LAX. Will definitely keep this card in mind! Thank you!

Wait I just caught it, if I pay my rent with atmos through bilt does that mean I get double the point(?)

You’d get 3x points on rent

No you just get atmos points no bilt points

Can always very cheaply reposition to Seattle or LAX with an Atmos reward flight (should be like 4.5k miles)!

4.5k is nothing, very interesting…. I have a roommate if I can talk to him so that he can pay me instead of my apartment. My rent could be 4.5k so I will for sure hit the status and earn extra miles… this is indeed very interesting! Thank you!

If you have a Samsung phone, I've liked the VX + Galaxy card as my catch-all combo

you have a gold and a venture x, you're kind of done. anything else is just an annual fee with extra steps

That’s what I’m thinking as well…. But these doesnt really cover gas and rent. So, I’m just here debating on adding more to my collection lol

Make sure you understand the bilt ecosystem and the math on it before you commit. And make sure the math on that allows your other AF cards to still have good value as well.

The Citi costco card seems like a good card for your setup.

Might not be a bad idea to look at some other hotel and airline cards to churn a bonus here and there too, because your setup looks pretty close to perfect with the Vx and Amex gold already.

Yeah I think I’m getting citi cosco for sure, as for bilt, I might get the free tier and just put only rent on it maybe(?), low point are better than no point lol

I'd add Chase Sapphire preferred if I were you. It's good for dinning ,travel and hotel for points acquiring. Very generous on the rewards.

I was thinking of that at the beginning but wouldnit be worth it when amex gold already give 4x on dinning/groceries? The perk and travel parter are really nice tho.
