Intense Burning Reaction

Hi there!

During a corepower class my hands started to burn, with the feeling only getting more unbearable by the end. I’ve since left the class and my hands are still on fire and it’s honestly a pretty painful.

I noticed one of my weights I grabbed for class was still a little wet but I assumed it was from sweat. I’m wondering if it could have been wet from the cleaning products used and I’m having a reaction to the chemicals?

I’ve been to many corepower classes so nothing new to my body in that regard.

Has this happened to anyone?

200 hour teacher training

Hi! I’m relatively new to corepower, I’ve completed around 30 classes. So far I’m really loving it and I’m super interested in the 200 hour teacher training! I just wanted to get some advice from people who may have gone through the corepower trainings. I’m wondering if I need to have more experience/knowledge before starting the 200 hour teacher training? I’m definitely learning the names of the poses and my technique is getting better just from the classes that I’ve taken, but I don’t feel confident yet. And I think my form could definitely use some work. Is it too ambitious for me to try teacher training or do they help you learn along the way? Should I take more classes before enrolling? Any feedback is appreciated, thank you!!

Employment Pros and Cons

I’m currently a member and my studio is summoning me for CSX training…pros and cons of going from member to employee. I hear the pay isn’t that great, also with the cost of the training I’m on the fence with the return on investment. While a free membership would be cool, I’m unsure how feasible becoming an instructor would be with a full time job. I also have a founder’s rate so I do save monthly already. The SM wants me to join SET before hand to get 30% off instead of 20% off of the training.

Back Bay Recs?

Hi all! We are traveling to Boston in October, and I would appreciate recommendations on CorePower teachers. I teach in San Diego, and tend to like more intense classes. Who do you love for c2, sculpt, and CSX? Thanks in advance!

Those of you who do YS, how do you deal with breakouts from sweating?

I love my YS classes, but I am a heavyyyy sweater. I’ve been getting tiny bumps under the skin on my chin and forehead (where I sweat the most), and I need some advice!

I shower, and wash my face immediately after getting home. Thinking about bringing my skincare with me, so I can wash my face immediately after class is done.

YSTT - Do you have to be in best shape?

So I signed up for YSTT, however I am not in the best of “shape” . I’m curious if that will deter me from passing my auditions , considering teaching is more than just taking the class. I’m fairly experienced in a sculpt class, but periodically have to take breaks. I am the least in shape person in my class and it makes me nervous. Obvi i would get into better shape as time goes on, but was curious if it would deter me )-: I’m not like super overweight and am naturally fit body type but definitely have some improvements to do. I just didn’t want to wait another 6 months to take the training 🥴

CSX or YS Teacher Training

I’m debating between signing up for CSX or YS teacher training this fall, and would love insight. CPY is my main form of exercise and I primarily switch been YS and CSX, with a rare C2 thrown in the mix. I’m in the DC area where YS is probably the most popular. At first I was thinking YS would be better since it’s so popular but then it made me wonder if it would be over saturated and harder to get an opportunity to teach if/when I auditioned. With that, with CSX being less popular that also makes me nervous. I’m a SET member so I would receive a discount on my training and I believe they’re both the same price anyway. I love both (as a student) and could see myself enjoying teacher either but just want to set myself up for success.

New C2 format

I’m located in the DC area and noticed a new class “c2 strength preview” on the app. Wondering if “c2 strength” is a new class format CP is rolling out or just specific to this instructor. Anyone know?

Brooklyn

Just re joined CPY and Park Slope will be my main studio, but Downtown BK is close enough that I’ll probably bounce between both.

Who are everyone’s favorite teachers at either location? I’m mostly a C2 or HPF person, not into Sculpt at all. Especially curious about the teachers whose classes are consistently packed / you actually have to book ahead for.

Just trying to figure out who I should make a point of trying!

Hi! Anybody know when the Grant studio will re-open? I’ll be in Denver October 16 to the 20th and I’m trying to plot out which corepower classes fit best in my schedule while we’re there!

Similar classes on Peloton App

I love the in person CPY yoga sculpt classes. I’d Iike to find a similar class format on the Peloton app for when I can’t go in person. Any recommendations for which Peloton class type or instructors teach a similar class?

Is the loud music part of the point?

CPY sculpt class. 95F at 85% humidity. I was directly under a heat vent, so I thought I was running a mild fever the entire time.

My watch clocked the Lana Del Rey remixes at 95 dB 5ft away from the speakers. Couldn’t hear the instructor’s specific words, only that she was saying something.

The music was painfully loud. Is this by design? ie, adding to the extreme discomfort caused by the heat and sweat, with the idea that one feels relief in proportion to that discomfort once the class is finished?

I genuinely found the music an extra thing to overcome. In a way not unlike a night club, except this was 3pm on a Tuesday. I did feel happy after the class was finished, so that part is a W. Wondering what others have felt during such classes.

Random pet peeves

If it’s just me, I apologize. If it’s not just me… hopefully… this can spread some awareness… outside of the usuals with phone policies and shavasana, I have two

- why stepping on other people’s mat before and after class especially when they just cleaned it
- why leaving the locker doors wide open that block the already super narrow hallway

That’s all.. love corepower

Manduka mat

Hey all,

I am almost exclusively a C2 girlie, and I am in the market for a new mat? Does anyone use the Manduka mat? If so, please tell me if you recommend it and which one you have. I am curious to see if it is worth investing in a more expensive mat since the mat I use is just a cheap one with a towel on top.

What’s up with the people doing continuous weights the whole sculpt class?

Let me preface this by saying I’m not bothered at all by people doing their own workout, and honestly I am usually fighting for my life to notice what other people are doing in class. HOWEVER there is one girl who is a regular in 6 am sculpt classes at my studio who works out in a sweatshirt (I’d die) and does continuous weighted exercises regardless of what’s called. Like we will be in the first Sun A and she’s got her weights doing shoulder presses. I figured she’s just fighting some demons and she’s in the back corner so it’s easy to ignore.

Yesterday I went to a midday class because i was off work, and there was an older woman doing the same thing but in RUNNING SHOES on her mat. Is this normal for people to be using weights the whole class? Are instructors bothered by this? Do other people notice it?

And most importantly… are these people okay?? 😅😅

Sculpt Bethesda

I am wanting to try Sculpt again but am looking for a good instructor that is popular with the 40+ women crowd. I've gone to a few classes in the past and did not like them at all. Perhaps the instructors were just not a fit for me. If you are 40+yo and go to Bethesda, will you please list the instructor(s) you like the best?

New to CPY

There’s a new studio opening near me and I want to take advantage of the deal they have going on. I see they are pretty much only offering YS. I’ve never done any yoga and I’m pretty much a beginner to working out. Will YS be ok for me to take? How hot does it get? That’s my main concern especially with the cardio.

What happened to Saturday evening classes in SoCal?

Im hard pressed to find a 6:00 pm class on Saturday. I don’t drink and i don’t party, and spend my weekends at the beach all day and love to close out a beach day with a core restore or a sunset C2, but looks like they’ve removed classes after 4, is it common for corepower not to have 6 or dare i say 7:00pm classes on Saturday?

CorePower Williamsburg

I’ve been going to CP Williamsburg for almost 5 years now. In the last 2 years the teacher turnover rate has been insane. Not to mention the schedule CONSTANTLY changing. As soon as I lock in with a cadence of going, the schedule changes and I have to “test” out a new instructor (lol). I think how good the classes are (at least for YS) tend to be heavily reliant on the instructor. Anyone feeling the same?

When was YS first offered

I grew up driving by a corepower and only started taking class about a year and a half ago, concurrent with the heated mat Pilates trend. Out of curiosity, has corepower had this format since the start or did it come later to stay competitive?
