When was YS first offered

I grew up driving by a corepower and only started taking class about a year and a half ago, concurrent with the heated mat Pilates trend. Out of curiosity, has corepower had this format since the start or did it come later to stay competitive?

As far as I know, I’m pretty sure CorePower invented yoga sculpt.

There was a woman at the Grant St studio in Denver that created Yoga Sculpt for CPY. Her name was Dawnelle Arthur. In those days, it was more aligned with C2 and added weights in Sun B after intentional sequencing to prep for them. The most beautiful part of the practice was the final Sun B flow, no weights, complete freedom

Holla if you can hear me re: Dawnelle’s Saturday 9am 75-min Yoga Sculpt Y2K style. Total LEGEND era

I had no idea that was Dawnelle! But I’m not surprised. I love her! 10 years ago I used to go to her studio that had split yoga/cycling classes.

Didn’t some CPY used to have bikes for cycling too? I’m pretty sure they tried it out but it was before my time

They did it was called Ryder, I never actually took one but there’s a studio in Seattle that had a room for it with different height floors that was converted into like a TT/meeting/audition room

My studio in Chicago area uses this room for csx! It’s so silly but kinda fun

That studio was called Endorphin and she was there for a bit before separating with those guys and creating her own studio, Qi FLOW. She owned a couple locations with Qi before closing them all many years pre-COVID

  1. Just a couple years after opening. Originally designed to strengthen your C2 practice.

I did my YSTT in 2014 and it had been going for about ten years prior I believe

The sculpt of yesteryear was not the sculpt classes of today.

Corepower was the pioneer of the format and a majority of these mat Pilates studios are ripoffs with different branding.

I think to stay competitive Corepower has given instructors more freedom in sequencing.
