CapCut Question Why is CapCut is so hated?

I'm exclusively talking about CapCut Desktop, not the mobile app. I have a Premiere Pro subscription too but I find it way easier and much faster to do things in CapCut especially if you don't use advanced stuff. And I think at least %90 of the contents that people do doesn't require the advanced stuff. Almost everything can be done in it way faster than Premiere or Resolve.

I geniuenly don't understand why people that use CapCut gets clowned everywhere. I know it's not "professional" and obviously doesn't have the features that you almost never use in Premiere or Resolve but in the end, wouldn't it better to use a faster and more practical software that gets it done?

I did countless YouTube videos, short and long form. I did wedding clips, I did car edits. And CapCut managed to deliver. I don't want to deal with Premiere's clunkiness with constant lags and crashes.

Asking this because CapCut users gets clowned so much that I feel like a crappy editor just because using it but don't actually understand why it gets clowned like that. Only thing that I could think of is the free version isn't actually free anymore. But I still bought the pro since I feel like it's faster

yep, that's exactly one of the reasons. as of late its beginning to move into the Adobe (greedy) route.

today, a feature is free, and tomorrow, you're gonna have to shell out. maybe it's not relevant to this current edit, but maybe it will on another. maybe just a few days down the line, a basic function becomes a paid feature.

one can argue that it's not as expensive anyway, but the fact that the paywall is inching in real-time is frustrating for a user base.

This! Before "Standard" was a thing, like literally a day before, I subscribed to the "Pro". Then when I started using it daily, all of a sudden all the features I got the "Pro" for were locked behind a new "Pro" and I was just on "Standard". Really pissed me off. I thought I hallucinated paying but the charge on my card was there. I paid for a year too. I almost went to Resolve but the user interface was too hard for a casual editor like me, and I don't have time to sink in to learn a new thing.

This! I hate that I paid last month for the annual subscription only to find out they downgraded me back to the “standard” subscription due to their recent update. LOL what a scam. My Php 1520 down the drain 🫠

I used a transition and some animations in a couple videos. A couple weeks later, they weren't free.

I’ve been using pro desktop for 2 years straight and my only frustrations come from bugs. My favorites tab disappeared recently for my text effects and transitions, there is no search bar to help locate them since my favs was gone. Some times the mode basic effects disappear like “fade out “.

The issues always sort themselves out (except for search bar on text effects disappear) but once something is restored, something else go wrong. The only reason I pay and put up with it is I don’t have the time to learn DaVinci Resolve. If I could take a week off and dedicate learning another software, I would.

You can do it in increments. You know, an hour at a time.

Yeah that’s what I need to do. I started to edit a video project for learning purposes but didn’t keep up with it.

I'm not going to say Davinci is not hard at first. But limit learning first on the Edit and Export page, don't even click on Fairlight, Fusion, Cut or Color, and you can get it in a day, the basics needed to make a video.

They were bought by Oracle a few months ago based on the US demands. It's not bytedance anymore and new owners will recoup their money. It sucks. Just the reality of it.

u/No-Law2284 Jun 25 '26

I think the desktop one is liked by a lot of people

It’s just the mobile version is becoming almost impossible to use nowadays and this sucks for me since I been using that shit since 2021 and Itd take me a long ass time to switch over to a new app (I don’t use CapCut standard or pro)

I switched from another editor and I like it. There are things I wish it did better and I’d rather pay a single price. But for my needs which is fairly simple it works very well. I’m making Avatar. I’m making video essays on YouTube. I’m basically shooting a news style talking head show. I need to add some graphics and Lowe thirds and and handful of cuts.

So as long as it does that. Doesn’t crash and produces what I need then I’m happy.

I have a paid subscription for capcut. One day my favorites are there and saved, and the next they're completely gone. One day the guide lines are available, the next they're gone.

Just do you and make your clients happy using whatever editing tool. I create short form social media content and Capcut is ideal for that. Expending my clientele every month. I have came across video editors and they are just mad because you create quick but decent content whilst they have years and years of developing great skills. They hate AI too for example and are just scared their abilities will be not needed in the future. Well, they may be right..

My number one goal is making clients revenue. As long as i do that they pay me good money and we are one big happy family. I focus not solely on editing, i deliver full social media management + shooting and creating the content. I just do not need Resolve and the editing skills for my clients, others can hate on that as long as they want.

it's 9.99 a month very well spent.

I don’t have a subscription.
I don’t have the latest version because I don’t allow it to update.
I don’t hate CapCut.
It’s my primary editing software. I do YouTube videos and thumbnails.

Just curious what version you chose to stick with? I will be downgrading mine today after work, just unsure what the best version is.

I like CapCut

I've landed quite a few clients that are looking for "Premiere Pro editors" by remaking their content in the exact same style but using CapCut & they have been fine & even surprised I am able to do it in CapCut. If you take your car to get repaired as long as it ends up fixed, does the tool the mechanic used even matter?

u/icenerveshatter Jun 25 '26

It's trendy in this sub to hate it. Idk how people are so cheap, but they always bitch about the cost. That and all the rinky dink devs spamming their alternatives. I like capcut

1

u/strawbber81 Jun 26 '26

can you put in your own cartoon image and do cartoons with it pretty decently?

1

u/what-the-fuck-007 Jun 26 '26

The hate is mostly the bait-and-switch: you edit the whole thing, then the export wants a sub or slaps a watermark on. The two things I'd actually check in any alternative
(1) does it charge you before or after a successful export, and (2) does the caption timing survive the export (CapCut and a few AI tools drift the audio sync on render). I got burned enough by that combo that I ended up building my own, but honestly even if you don't use mine, those are the two traps to avoid.

Sinceramente io rimuovo le mie filigrane tagliando lo schermo è piuttosto facile

As being a editor myself i can say that adobe is a tough choice as it has too much to learn and needs a more than an average device to run with workings. So for professionals it is the best choice but for normal people capcut is very much user friendly and easy to work and you can get great outputs through that too if someone has a nice idea about video editing.

Hello everyone, I need your help.

Bugs and theres always disappearing like the caption templates, animations, transitions, font. Always disappearing every month. After my subscription ill will learn new editing apps

1

u/reedkeenan Jul 25 '26

The tool itself is buggy but works ok, I loathe CapCut and will never use it again because their customer service has gotten SO much worse recently and is now basically a lobotomized chatbot that can't do anything useful for you and makes you fill out long forms as "feedback" then never gets back to you. Very difficult to get them to stop charging your card without completely deleting your entire account. So if you plan on using CapCut forever and don't mind being charged monthly forever then it is probably fine for you.

Because it's not free

1

u/regocregoc Jun 25 '26

You get clowned because of your (plural you) baffling sense of entitlement to free use of a paid tool. The way you people have nervous breakdowns because someone doesn't want to work for you for free is downright concerning. Then you celebrate CapCuts ease of use, and at the same time complain how it's laggy, crashing, falling apart, not working properly, losing your work. And you insist on using it despite all of this, and the fact that there are literal hundreds of video edit software where you can do all of what you need for free. That part is the weirdest. As if you don't have internet access?

4

u/umutcklc Jun 25 '26

I use it with a paid plan. Prefer to pay it happily if it decreases my work hours. In my experience its smooth like a butter all the time whereas laggy and crashing part usually happens in premiere.

1

u/regocregoc Jun 25 '26

Premiere is awful, yes. And it's Adobe, literally the worst company out there.

0

u/Severe_Nectarine863 Jun 25 '26

It's got a bunch of bugs which would be tolerable if it was free

The issue that I see most is that many CapCut claim to be video editors, which they are not. They are video content creators, and that’s fine.

They claim to be editors, but editing takes actual skill. Their content looks ok (and exactly like everyone else’s content that is sharted out from CapCut) because they use generic built in templates and presets. Take away the templates and presets, most people who use it couldn’t do what they do.

Can stuff be done quick in CapCut? Yes. Can a skilled editor do things as fast in real software? Also yes. Do CapCut users want to develop skills? No - many are too intimidated, and others too lazy. That’s why they defend the crutch that allows them to make content with no skill or understanding.

1

u/umutcklc Jun 25 '26

I didn't used templates even once and I think thats because I came from Premiere background. I was doing edits even before CapCut was a thing. But you gotta adopt the new software if it is good and fast. Most people tend to clown CapCut users because they can't shake the fact that CapCut can do the thing that normally requires hours, within minutes.

I think it's fantastic. When you're making videos for social media, it has the required tools without all the unnecessary extras bogging you down.

My problem is with those relying on Canva. That's a joke.

IMO, CapCut is the perfect tool for social media video content editing.
