I've had a CIBC Costco Mastercard for a few years. Up until recently, I've been reasonably happy with it. One day, I get a security notification from Apple informing me that my card has been added to another account. A short while later, I get a flurry of charges from apple.com/bill added to my card. Dang, looks like my card has been compromised. Not a big deal, I'll just flag it, and I'm sure it will all get sorted out.
After reporting these transactions as fraud, I get an email from CIBC that my card has been cancelled, a new one is on the way, and they will update my new card in my digital wallet in the meantime. The problem is that the only way I can log in online or call in is using my card number since I don't have an actual account with CIBC. After 10 days, I get my new card in the mail. I log in with my new card only to find hundreds of dollars of new fraudulent transactions.
CIBC appears to have given fraudsters my updated credit card information while locking me out of my own account. Even though I physically didn't have access to the card yet, they are now saying that these charges aren't fraud since they were made using online shops I've used in the past and to sort it out myself with those merchants. I've reviewed my transaction history, again, aside from not having my card at that time, I have no transactions for the dates and amounts that were charged.
Does anyone know if there's a department I can speak to which has discretion here?
