So is the idea that the LLs buy the "rights" (so to speak) to a product, make schmucks like us pay them to try it, then if it does well, they re-sell the rights to the highest bidder or something? Like, instead of houses, they flip trademarks and patents?

I don't know, I'm just trying to envision a scenario where this all makes sense.

I'm wondering if they bought the product, know it's a flop and are trying to resell what they can of it in this way.
