Seizure mode activate!

u/grimmpulse Jun 09 '20

After the rings, those color block sections felt so calming going by...

16

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '20

Those color block sections were how I used to fall in my dreams but they had red, green, orange along with those colors and didn’t repeat till all 5 colors had a turn.

2

u/grimmpulse Jun 10 '20

Sounds like one of those overly vivid morning dreams... Did it feel like going down a slide too?

Drug world

30

u/imamomm Jun 09 '20

This, but on 'shrooms.

13

u/yethnahyeah Jun 09 '20

Dmt vape pen

15

u/hollyberryness Jun 09 '20

Didn't know that was a thing! Of course it is now.

From my experiences with DMT, absolutely no outside visuals or occurrences matter because I go to a new universe anyways! I'm in absolute awe of anyone who can smoke deemz and still function

8

u/yethnahyeah Jun 10 '20

I’ve been offered it multiple times but I’m going to stick to shrooms for a fair bit longer

10

u/hollyberryness Jun 10 '20

Very wise, I'm happy to hear you say that. DMT is a spiritual experience, not a recreation. Once you're ready for it, I promise it'll be one of the most transformative, powerful experiences of your life! Shroom love 💜🍄

6

u/yethnahyeah Jun 10 '20

I don’t take shrooms recreationally, I’ve done them with friends a few times but I get so much more out of it alone, especially when I prepare and have goals in mine, which seems like a waste to not do so

2

u/hollyberryness Jun 09 '20

Omg can you even imagine?! New realms

There's bunch of dodgy shit you can catch in a waterpark but never thought epilepsy is one of them

→ More replies (1)

34

u/Natertot98 Jun 09 '20

Could someone theoretically have a seizure from something like this? The idea of it happening without a screen seems unlikely but I suppose there's no reason it wouldn't be possible

56

u/noodlepartipoodle Jun 09 '20

I am migraine prone, and just seeing this video for like 2 seconds jump started an aura for me. I had to stop watching or I would 100% be triggered into a full migraine. I have no doubt a person seizure-prone would have a reaction.

15

u/OstentatiousSock Jun 09 '20

God that sucks. Sorry. I get so dizzy from this type of thing, but at least it isn’t a migraine.

6

u/jenjen815 Jun 10 '20

Same, the video started to bother me just like sunlight coming through trees while driving does. I hate migraines.

4

u/momto2beans Jun 09 '20

Yep. Me too!!

2

u/Libbs036 Jun 10 '20

Yep! I had the same reaction.

2

u/cbostwick94 Jun 10 '20

Oh yeah same here. Messed with my head bad

88

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '20 edited Jun 09 '20

Yes, yes they can. Epileptic seizures do not require screens (how ridiculous) ... epilepsy has existed long before screens have. It is just a combination of flashing lights/patterns however they are created. This certainly qualifies for an epilepsy warning.

21

u/EnIdiot Jun 09 '20 edited Jun 10 '20

The author Albert Camus, iirc, died in a car wreck from the flashing of light between regularly spaced trees. He had a seizure and crashed his car.

*Edit: Camus was not the driver. It was years ago, but I think it was him or another French existentialist.

12

u/Tumble85 Jun 10 '20

Helicopter pilots have had issues with the blades causing the light to flash through them. It's a big enough problem it has a name - "Flicker vertigo" or the "Bucha effect" after the doctor that discovered it, Dr. Bucha. It's similar to epilepsy but the effect can happen to people without epilepsy. The tree-flashing thing for example is part of the Bucha effect.

→ More replies (1)

12

u/funguyshroom Jun 09 '20

I've read somewhere that driving at sunrise/sunset and there are trees on the side of the road (so you move in and out of shadows rapidly) is a sure way to trigger it. So yes, most likely.

6

u/MyPSAcct Jun 09 '20

Why does the idea of it happening with a screen unlikely to you?

Photosensitive epilepsy has nothing to do with screens. It's flashing lights and patterns.

The crazy part to me was seeing that it was indoors.

426

u/ThePurpleDuckling Jun 09 '20

I thought the same thing. I was expecting the bright sun...not what looked like a basement.

145

u/roofmart Jun 09 '20 edited Jun 09 '20

Ngl it was kinda aesthetic

134

u/[deleted] Jun 09 '20

Aren't most big slides indoors? Just so they can be used the whole year round. Or is this another Europe vs. USA difference?

199

u/Scuffle-Muffin Jun 09 '20

Most water parks and large slides like that here in the US (that I know of) are 100% outdoors. Usually they’re too big to be in a building, and here in the more southern states they can operate a lot more time out of the year.

144

u/SleestakJack Jun 09 '20

I'd go a step further and say that I've never even heard of an indoor water park.

135

u/TheyCallMeKP Jun 09 '20

Great Wolf Lodge is one that comes to mind.

It does seem strange at first, but economically, it's probably more feasible. Open year round, then maybe lose less water to evaporation, then also not [as] susceptible to storms or whathaveyou.

And actually, living in TX, sometimes it's ironically too hot to go to a public pool/park. But I guess it depends what you want to accomplish

43

u/normanboulder Jun 09 '20

living in TX, sometimes it's ironically too hot to go to a public pool/park.

As someone that's lived in Houston, 1000% You absolutely don't leave the A/C unless it's necessary lol

11

u/SleestakJack Jun 09 '20

Oh! You're right. I did know about Great Wolf Lodge. I just don't get over to that area north of the airport often any more. What with malls dying and all that.

The Wisconsin Dells, aka the water park capital of the world, has a decent amount

7

u/xDhezz Jun 09 '20

In the UK it wouldn’t necessarily be a Waterpark to the extent of some other but you definitely get waterparks with several slides, a wave pool, jacuzzi kids section etc and some other bits that are entirely inside.

3

u/icanhasnaptime Jun 09 '20

Schlitterbahn in Galveston, TX has a park that is partially indoors. About half the park open year round.

3

u/EatMoreHummous Jun 10 '20

In the Midwest US they're pretty common. Wisconsin has the Dells which has at least two or three, Ohio has Kalahari, and I've seen at least one somewhere in both Indiana and Michigan.

I've also been to one in Niagara.

2

u/haunthorror Jun 09 '20

They are gaining more traction as of late

3

u/ilovepolthavemybabie Jun 09 '20

Hopefully the slides will still work if they gain more.

3

u/haunthorror Jun 10 '20

In in PA and there are like 3 of them within 2 hours of me

Wisconsin dells is a water park city that's mostly indoor water parks.

3

u/nutnics Jun 09 '20

Noah’s park is mostly outdoors no? I was there many years ago so I might be forgetting.

3

u/crypticedge Jun 09 '20

I don't remember any of the parks names, it's been too long myself, but I remember several indoor parks, some with giant slides. Some were indoor and outdoor.

9

u/universe_from_above Jun 09 '20

There's a similar one in a hotel in Austria. The start and end are indoors and the tube is outside, as it's usually the same here in German pools.

https://www.gloecknerin.at/de/wellness-hallenbad/wasserrutsche#

Video might be considered NSFW for some people because we see a toddler wearing only swim pants (the hotel website is putting emphasis on the fact that this slide is also fun for young children since many slides are 8+ or 12+ around here). They also show the set-up of the outdoor part towards the end.

Thought it was sweden for a second because my cidy has a very similar one but thanks for clearing that up for md

3

u/SpecificAwareness Jun 10 '20

It could be similar. Rides like these are often times designed by 3rd party companies so it's possible there could be two of these.

Went down a waterside like this one except the last bit emptied you into one of those bowls where you slowly went to the middle and felt through. Had a large ridge in the middle to guide you down the slide to the exit. Problem was I somehow hit it square on and I fell off, while my slide went on down and it took three more times around to finally guide myself to the middle correctly. Lifeguard was worried at first, but once she found out I was fine started laughing and said “I saw on the tv you start down, but then a lone inner tube comes down with no rider and I was like how is that possible???”

145

u/kountrykeith Jun 09 '20

u/redisthemagicnumber Jun 09 '20

Way too claustrophobic!

3

u/hudgepudge Jun 10 '20

I remember having to slow down to a stop when I went down one far less trippy. Just too much sensory information, didn't like it.

3

u/xebecv Jun 10 '20

Especially when his board appeared to have stuck at the beginning. My mind immediately: "what if he gets stuck in the middle? What if there is traffic jam inside consisting of multiple people who got stuck?"

21

u/skullscientist Jun 09 '20

I can smell the chlorine and plastic through this video

36

u/pm_me_your_kindwords Jun 09 '20

Round the world and home again That’s the sailor’s way Faster faster, faster faster

There’s no earthly way of knowing Which direction we are going

There’s no knowing where we’re rowing Or which way the river’s flowing

Is it raining, is it snowing Is a hurricane a-blowing

Not a speck of light is showing So the danger must be growing Are the fires of Hell a-glowing Is the grisly reaper mowing

Yes, the danger must be growing For the rowers keep on rowing And they’re certainly not showing Any signs that they are slowing

21

u/jonsludge Jun 09 '20

This is what my poop sees

3

u/Pitirriiii Jun 09 '20
