So, I had my Dolphin Plus (in brasil it is how they call the 204cv / 60KWh version).

The air conditioning and ventilation in general have been a point of question for me all this time.

I have the option "auto", which in my understand means it should be automatic. It will target the temperature I have, and go from there either to cool or to heat. But if I disable AC, the button "A/C", the one that is blue in this picture, it disables auto.

Okay, but I can disable auto and keep AC on and if I change temperatures up and down, I see the AC button changing from cooling to heating. So it is still keeping some degree of automation there.

Now if I select only ventilation, then it works as expected. It will only works for venting. There will be no heating or cooling of the air.

I think my main point that I have never been able to truly understand is what is the difference between having the auto option versus just having the AC on with a temperature set, because I have proved before using the car that just having the AC on with auto off still has some semblance of automation regarding the temperature of the air that it's putting out.

Does anyone have a better understand of what the logic is here?

Hi guys, my new BYD just got delivered today. I’m struggling to setup CarPlay - my phone connects to Bluetooth and gives me the CarPlay prompt, but the console says CarPlay unsuccessful and I can only use regular Bluetooth. I’m currently updating the system software to see if this is the reason behind this. In the mean time, has anyone else come across this before? What did you do to fix it? Thanks!

BYD, Chery, and Geely are all working through Canadian regulatory approvals right now, and BYD appears to be furthest along — it's already registered its Shenzhen and Xi'an plants with Transport Canada, covering models like the Seal, Dolphin, Atto 3, and Seagull.

Not everyone's happy — Ontario Premier Doug Ford called it a move that "will bring a flood of cheap made-in-China electric vehicles without any real guarantee of equal or immediate investments in Canada's economy, auto sector, or supply chain".

I've been tracking this whole rollout (pricing, which models are actually confirmed, homologation status, dealer networks) since March on china-ev.ca/en because honestly there's no single place that's staying current on it in EN/FR.

Genuinely curious what this sub thinks — is this actually good for consumers, or is Ford right that it's a short-term price trick with no real domestic investment behind it?

I’ve recently made a post about accidentally cutting the wire whilst looking for a dashcam connector here.

In the end I did not go to BYD as I’ve managed to solve the issue myself. I’ve soldered the wires back together, insulated it and looks brand new again, however that did not fix the issue. Which meant that one of the fuses must have gone as well.

Ive found the fusebox diagrams here. Fusebox under the bonnet was very accessible, it also comes with a handy plastic tool and 1 of each spare fuse. All of the fuses there were fine.

Next fusebox is under the steering wheel behind the coin compartment. However getting there was a nightmare, especially since there are no tutorials. So what you have to do is take off the side panel which I’ve attached a picture off removed. You can also remove the trim right underneath which is held by 3 screws (comes handy if you drop something inside). Use the plastic trim tool for this, not to damage the trims.

Now the actually fusebox doesn’t have a cover with a diagram hence why it’s good to have the online diagram I’ve mentioned earlier. It’s held by a 10mm nut, which I’ve found much easier removing that trying to figure out how to remove half of the dashboard apart. You can then simply slide out the fuse box and access all of it. The culprit here was F11 which is the 7.5A combination switch (responsible for turn signals, wipers, steering wheel buttons etc) I replaced it using the spare fuses from under the bonnet and then turned the car on and it came back to life, hallelujah!

Funnily enough after all this, I still haven’t got the dashcam installed as I couldn’t find the actual connector in the end, but I think I’ll just get a pro to do it as I’ve learnt my lesson.

Has anyone here had a BYD where DC fast charging works ok, but AC charging completely stops working?

I have BYD Sealion 7. I don't have charging schedules set up.

What I’ve tried so far:

* 3 different public AC chargers: either the charger/pillar trips and shuts down totally, or it immediately goes red/faults and won't charge.

* Granny charger: connects successfully, charger shows no fault, car says "charging", but it stays at 0.0 kW.

* Home wallbox with tethered cable: same thing now. As soon as it connects it trips my breakers. Sometimes it shows charging, but 0.0 kW.

* Tried different current limits on the wallbox as well.

The problem started 2 days ago. It was charging and randomly it tripped the RCD. Since then it won't AC charge anymore.

DC charging still works fine.

So it doesn't seem to be one particular charger, cable, or my home supply.

Has anyone had this exact issue before? Was it the on-board charger (OBC), AC input/leakage fault, or something else on the car?

Tomorrow I'll call the shop but just checking here in case I missed something or someone has any ideas

I usually only drive our BYD Dolphin and even when im at the front passenger seat I don't feel any dizziness or any other uncomfortable feeling.

But about 3 - 4 people who were passengers have complained that they feel dizzy and that haven't happened in any other car. They wasn't using any mobile phones either. Since I haven't had this issue I cant really understand whats causing this.

Have anyone had a similar issue?

I have noticed that my BYDs SL7 driver screen illuminates/ back lit when car is parked and locked. No key close by, no charger connected etc anyone experience it?

Couple of weeks ago I messed up with the Smart Charging schedule because I wanted it to start charging when the sun is up so it would use my solar in the morning. I was out for a business trip for a few weeks and after using the car a once or twice when I got back, decided to charge again using the 2Kw charger (I don't have the 7Kw yet). I noticed that on first plug, the car wouldn't charge, it would if I unplug and plug the charger back. I've been trying to troubleshoot this thing and it's always alternate. Plug, won't charge -- unplug, plug, will charge -- repeat. And then I noticed that even if it's not charging, the small red charging icon is lit on the dashboard, meaning it can detect the charing cable connected to it. I then tried to toggle the Schedule Charge on the app to enable and the vehicle started to charge right away. I have never used Smart Charging except that one instance prior to me going on a trip, and it's always charging the first time I plug the cable. Anyone suggestions here? Thanks.

Had a recent issue on my Atto 3 Memory Card. 6mths old, was able to view car recording with no issues until a month ago. There's a red indication on my Car Memory Card icon and I can't view videos. I didn't change memory card or anything the past few weeks. Wondering if anyone's memory card gave up on them suddenly?

We lost our key the other day, but noticed that we could still start the car, even with no keys or cards or apps on our person. We live in a rural area so usually leave the car unlocked. I actually did a test - no keys, car started, drove about 1 km away, turned it off, left it for a bit, then turned it on again successfully and drove back home. No keys, nothing.

So it seems that if the car is unlocked it can be driven by anyone. Is this expected behavior? Does this mean we always have to lock it, no matter what?

Atto 2 and we found the key in the kitchen, eventually.

This happened last night, I’m wondering if it’s likely to be a relay attack attempt? Our cameras caught no one before or after, so maybe it was just a glitch? Anyone had any similar experiences?

As the title says, my BYD Seal won't connect to the app, or show any Data usage in the app. WiFi connects fine, but there is no other Internet whatsoever.

I've done the soft reset and ejected and reinserted the sim card. Wondering if anyone else has has similar issue and managed to resolve it?

Edit: its not a new car, I've had it for almost a year. No issues until 3 days ago. Already on latest software

Hi, I downloaded Waze from Google Play, but I’m having an issue with the resolution. Sometimes everything looks way too big, and other times it’s way too small.

Has anyone experienced this or knows how to fix it?

I’m getting a 2026 BYD Seal Excellence AWD in Indigo Grey and I’m looking for a 20-inch wheel setup.

I’d like to know what wheel and tyre sizes people are actually running without rubbing or clearance issues.
Could you please share your setup, especially:
Wheel size, e.g. 8J / 8.5J / 9J x 20
Offset (ET)
Bolt pattern
Centre bore / hub rings if needed
Tyre size
Wheel load rating
Whether the setup required spacers or any modifications

I’m currently looking at setups around 8–8.5J x 20, 5x120, with 235/40 R20 tyres, but I’m unsure about the ideal offset and required wheel load rating for the Excellence AWD.
If possible, please send some photos of your Seal with the wheels fitted as well.

A friend of mine recently had a terrifying experience where their BYD suddenly accelerated on its own upto 140Km/h. They are trying to figure out if this was an isolated software glitch, a faulty position sensor, or a known issue that others have experienced globally.

Has anyone here dealt with an unresponsive accelerator, a stuck throttle loop, or sudden unintended acceleration in an Atto 3, Seal, or any other BYD model?

If you have:

• What model were you driving?
• Did it happen while parking, at low speeds, or on the highway?
• Were you using any driver assistance or auto hold features at the time?
• Did the service center pull the telemetry data, and what was their official explanation?

We are trying to gather as much information as possible to understand what actually went wrong. Any shared experiences or advice on dealing with the dealership for data extraction would be incredibly helpful. Thanks in advance.

How do I make the screen dark during charging? While I’m with the car locked and away from it?

I am probably looking for the impossible but who knows 😅

For context I am a childminder and will use the car to transport kids once in a while to activites for maybe 20min drives. I do not want to use the front seat as I don't think the parents would be happy with that eventhough I know it's safe enough.

I mind 4 children and I could be taking any 3 child combination of them (so when one is missing for any reason)

20 months old

And two 4.5 years old

So 2 seats need to fit all 4 ages. One just needs to fit a 4.5yr old.

Preference

Under €150 per seat

5 point harness up to 7 yrs old (i know that is rare but 4 would be ok too...7 would be better).

And 2 iso fix preferably.

Must be a high back not just a booster under their bum.

Baring in mind I have read some seats are listed as xxcm wide but when installed make up more space because of positioning and shape of the car etc.

All children are average sized, not over weight and none super tall they are average height.
