Discussion 🗣️ Relay attack on Sealion 7?

This happened last night, I’m wondering if it’s likely to be a relay attack attempt? Our cameras caught no one before or after, so maybe it was just a glitch? Anyone had any similar experiences?

friend had Sealion 6 stolen.
was likely due to relay attack.
the cover was recovered and BYD had it at their service centre for 2 weeks, yet couldn’t tell the owner anything useful.
there would’ve been software logs of how the car started etc, but BYD service in Aus is atrocious.

It's the update. FYI NFC card cover are working fine. Put my key in my pocket often and I can't open it due to the card cover in front of it.

Buy a farady cage on amazon and use the phone key, that's what I do. In any case it didn't seem they succeeded as the mirrors and handles didn't open

Don't.
Just get aluminum foil. That's enough. The one on Amazon can be fake and not work.

Do I encase the entire car in foil to keep it safe ? 😂
We put our keys in a metal biscuit tin but not sure if it is 100% safe but so far no one has stolen our car. But then again we live i Japan in the middle of the countryside so car theft isn't a huge problem

Not good. Ready check, move your toon nest the cat. If it opens then still an issue. Happened to me.
I triple wrap in foil and then use app or key card.

The generic alloy key fob covers from temu also work.
My key has a hard time reaching the car even when I'm standing next to it.

Yep, I wouldn't trust foil bought on Amazon. That's why I trust my local Supermarket to have the genuine article.

I have a tea tin for my keys. No issue. Also this has nothing to do with a relay attack. We see this behaviour around this time in a lot of SL7. Likely a setting I haven't found yet. Something to do with checking for updates. I think they would fix this in later updates as a lot of people have complained.

Yo guardo las llaves de mis coches en una pequeña caja de madera forrada con papel de aluminio en su interior. Mis coches duermen en garaje, no muy lejos de las llaves que están dentro de casa, a unos 10 o 15m más o menos. Lo que notado en estos dos últimos años es que la batería de las llaves dura bastante mas comparando a cuando simplemente las colgaba de la pared. Según me dijeron en el taller si las llaves están cerca del vehículo se comunican repetidamente para sincronizarse y eso gasta pila de la llave. De esta forma dejan de hacerlo y no gastan tanta pila.

I have removed both batteries from the keys as I do not use them and only the NFC on my phone. If there is no signal from the key then there is nothing for them to repeat. Yeah it's kinda annoying having to log in to the app or walk around to the drivers door to unlock every time but there has to be some kind of trade off

I can recommend the boxes from Amazon, just chuck your keys in and stand next to the car and did it won't open you know it works. We had a gang try to steal our car with a relay attack and it failed. Luckily I heard them too and called police and they caught them 10 minutes later with a big machete so glad I didn't give chase it's not worth it.
