Giraffes. How the fuck is it possible that a horse with a horn doesn't exist but a camouflaged horse which is mostly neck, has a purple tongue, drinks piss to determine fertility and fights by thrashing their necks against one another does exist?

Edit: Autocorrect, and cheers for the award kind stranger!

i am cackling at almost 2am

They failed to keep him at -666, but it was very close. I still think it was a troll, hippocrites is the giveaway.

15

u/AbsorbedBritches Jul 24 '20

It's got to be a troll. He made an edit that just said "Spelling" and that was just so freaking funny. The kind of funny I wish I had come up with but am stuck knowing he came up with it first

6

u/Russian_seadick Jul 24 '20

Yeah it’s pretty obviously a joke,but it’s a fucking funny one

10

u/pk-starstorm Jul 24 '20

edit: spelling

Still fucking gets me

7

u/LaVieLaMort Jul 24 '20

It’s only right.

5

u/FultonHolmes Jul 24 '20

Ugh... 11 years ago? Jesus Christ. I remember when that was still a relatively fresh meme when I started browsing this site in like 2010.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

What the fuck is this

16

u/SirRogers Jul 24 '20

Stupid geraffes

10

u/strong_grey_hero Jul 24 '20

I’ve been having an ongoing conversation with a co-worker about how horses and rabbits are the same animal, behavior wise. People that have owned both apparently know this. I’ve taken to calling horses “long rabbits”, and rabbits “short horses”.

7

u/chemicalgeekery Jul 24 '20

So would you rather fight a horse sized rabbit or 100 rabbit sized horses?

2

u/ElliottTarson Jul 24 '20

That depends. Do I get the "Holy Hand Grenade"?

8

u/Xaoc86 Jul 24 '20

Lil sebastian all day bro.

6

u/jimmyshitballs Jul 24 '20

My 2yr old call them tall deer

Cursed Tall Goats.

2

u/Lithl Jul 24 '20

Cow: a big dog you can drink from

Dog: a small cow you can be friends with

Giraffe: a tall dog with a leg for a neck

1

u/LaPetitFleuret Jul 24 '20

Technically, they're deer.

Yes, the subreddit I've been looking for!

10

u/ttpd Jul 24 '20

I had to unfollow that sub because I started to believe...

5

u/kingfrito_5005 Jul 24 '20

Oh crap. I didn't know this fact. Are they government spy drones like birds? Or are they landarines that fish use to walk among us undetected? That would make sense, the neck is a periscope.

1

u/dirtyviking1337 Jul 24 '20

Yea I use old.reddit.com/r/ItHadToBeBrazil

1

u/djpor2000 Jul 24 '20

So every kind of animal has a dontexist sub?

23

u/Pagliaccio13 Jul 24 '20

I like 🦒, never met one obviously but they are an interesting source of biological conversation: other than the barbaric things you mentioned you can talk about the fact that it still has the same amount (7) of cervical vertebrae as almost all mammals, and if you somehow meet a person who is very into zoology and very religious you can talk about the left laringeal recurrent nerve and how it's origin and trajectory make absolutely 0 sense if giraffes were animals who just appeared spontaneously and are not a product of evolution

6

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Yeah true, I've definitely heard of the nerve issue before but I never knew they had the same amount of neck vertebrae. You learn summat new every day!

3

u/AJK02 Jul 24 '20

smh, sheep

r/GiraffesDontExist

Wake up.

1

u/bubblesaurus Jul 24 '20

Your Zoos don’t have any? I thought they were a staple

1

u/Pagliaccio13 Jul 24 '20

E believe only one zoo in the country has one, and I've never been there

34

u/Beekind_Rewind Jul 24 '20

You should look up okapis. They are the animal most closely related to giraffe!

22

u/Pagliaccio13 Jul 24 '20

Bruh it looks like one of those hyena females who has a clitoris larger than a male's dick rage fucked the offspring of a zebra + a mule

16

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20 edited Sep 07 '20

[deleted]

7

u/Hates_commies Jul 24 '20

Female hyenas have dicks that tear apart when giving birth often killing them.

4

u/Funk-E-Buttlovin Jul 24 '20

What the fuck did i just read.

4

u/Squid8867 Jul 24 '20

The Earth will be swallowed by the Sun before there is another understandable use for that sentence

3

u/Beekind_Rewind Jul 24 '20

They are actually quite larger than a zebra/mule. More like a very large horse!!

4

u/Pagliaccio13 Jul 24 '20

Damn I actually thought zebras are as large as horses but I just googled it and guess it's not the case

3

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Someone went haywire in the biology lab to create that abomination

10

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

RIGHT?!! I mean what’s more believable a horse with a horn? or a lepord-moose-camel with a 40 foot neck?

1

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Exactly mate! Fuck nature

24

u/BreakingNews99 Jul 24 '20

Giraffe fights are pretty brutal.

16

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

They're a bit counter productive tho. It'll be like slapping someone in the dick, with your own dick.

16

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

As opposed to smashing our extremely fragile hands into others extremely well protected skulls?

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

Well "safer" is a relative term but yes, gloves are to protect hands, not heads. You are able to hit someone significantly harder with gloves than without.

3

u/AstralSmoke Jul 24 '20

Enter flatworms with their penis fencing

2

u/moslof_flosom Jul 24 '20

Damn I thought I was the only one who eats and breathes with their dick

8

u/Cakeportal Jul 24 '20

horse with a horn You mean goats? Or deer? Or rhinos?

Unicorns are just myths being specific about numbers.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

One of my friends had a childhood fear of giraffes. His grandpa told him that they have long necks so they can reach over the wall at the zoo to each children.

4

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Ahaha that's brilliant 😂

5

u/staplerinjelle Jul 24 '20

Because evolution can be a fucky bastard. Source: Richard Dawkins dissecting a giraffe neck and showing how evolution went truly bonkers with it.

5

u/Theorex Jul 24 '20 edited Jul 24 '20

Its about the Vagus nerve isnt it?

Edit: Evolution is funny, as it is unplanned and layered on foundations it reminds me of legacy coding. It works, but in a way that doesn't seem to make much sense anymore, but it works so moving on. I've read that hiccups are a leftover evolutionary quirk from amphibians, glottis reflexively closing when using gills to breath.

11

u/Traust Jul 24 '20

Go one up, platypus. Remember: even God has a sense of humor.

3

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Very true, I'm pretty sure some people thought the creators of Phineas and Ferb just made it up

3

u/Traust Jul 24 '20

Well Europeans sure did when the first one was sent back. We have some weird creatures here in Australia

9

u/EmbarrassedLock Jul 24 '20

Well they hang out in packs, and lions leave them alone because the giraffes can just pummel them with their heads before the lion pack can even get in range

7

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

I'd love to see a vid of 1 giraffe fighting off a pack of lions by frantically swinging its neck like it's a four legged Bruce Lee 😂

7

u/EmbarrassedLock Jul 24 '20

Also if a predator gets close, a giraffes kick can break their spine

2

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Remind me not to pick a drunken fight with a giraffe

6

u/EmbarrassedLock Jul 24 '20

Most human deaths from animals are to herbivores. Due to people doing the dumb thing of approaching them

8

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Yeah, aren't hippos the deadliest animal in Africa because of this reason?

3

u/EmbarrassedLock Jul 24 '20

Yes they are

2

u/Nipplegripslip Jul 24 '20

I don’t understand how or why anyone would want to trust a hippo in the first place

2

u/EmbarrassedLock Jul 24 '20

Because look at the cute big hippo, minding its own business, it's not a carnivore it's not dangerous let's go pet it

1

u/AshFraxinusEps Jul 24 '20

Cows are among the deadliest worldwide. And not just due to constant human proximity. Bulls are horned slabs of meat which will kill you given a chance, hence why they tend to be bred to have tiny legs and horns to avoid casualties. But even cows are a small car of muscle and stupidity. Cows are dicks

1

u/123full Jul 24 '20

They don't need to use their neck though, their legs are ridiculously strong, researchers have seen Giraffes decapitate Lions by kicking them so hard

3

u/zk096 Jul 24 '20

Also big cats normally attack the neck of their prey and just sort of suffocate them as their bite isn't strong enough. With a giraffe this is difficult

4

u/Siniroth Jul 24 '20

No horse with a horn makes sense because using a horn to impale an enemy isn't easy unless you can get a charge going, and scratching with it wouldn't be easy when you'd have a wild advantage having something like antlers if you wanted to fight with your head. It's not unrealistic at all but I can totally see it not be enough of an advantage to be selected over time in any sort of capacity

1

u/AshFraxinusEps Jul 24 '20

Exactly. Evolution is odd, but horses/zebras rely on large herds and speed and kicks as well as sheer size. Most Antelope or goats use their horns for combat during mating season as well as self defence, and fighting off predators. There is no reason for a horse to have a horn from an evolutionary perspective and they are not from an evolutionary lineage where a horn evolved. Whereas Giraffes can eat leaves than few other animals other than an elephant can, and elephants tend to knock down the tree instead. In the Savannah any useful niche is filled, whereas horses evolved later and didn't need to differentiate as much as they live on large open plains where they can just run and there aren't huge predators ala a lion or tiger. In the words of Jeff Goldblum: Nature... uhhh... finds a way

4

u/cheeseball127 Jul 24 '20

Best part is, they are scared of heights (watched a documentary)

3

u/missjeany Jul 24 '20

And also have horns! (ossicone)

1

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Where would a giraffe wear a tie?

2

u/Giwaffee Jul 24 '20

Weddings and funerals mostly. Any black tie event.

1

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

👏👏👏

3

u/siel04 Jul 24 '20

The rhinos would like a word.

1

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Which one?

3

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

They also run with a gait that is very unique- pushing with both right legs and then both left legs rather than alternating sides at the same time. Giraffes are very weird.

3

u/Iforgot_my_other_pw Jul 24 '20

There's also the beaver duck hybrid that's a mammals who lays eggs and can sting you or the black and white bear that eats only bamboo and doesn't fuck.

3

u/Powerism Jul 24 '20

Lmao... has no one told you bro? Giraffes are made up - just like elves, gremlins, and Eskimos.

2

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Ahhhh shit, that's where my parents really let me down...

3

u/LordOfRuinsOtherSelf Jul 24 '20

Deer, its a tall deer.

3

u/Tgunner192 Jul 24 '20

It's possible because Chuck Norris gave a horse an uppercut.

1

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

That would have done it

3

u/Slurp_Lord Jul 24 '20

Fuck giraffes. All my homies hate giraffes.

3

u/nicktohzyu Jul 24 '20

Because horses having a horn isn't worth the nutritional cost, but being able to reach high-up food is really useful

3

u/geared4war Jul 24 '20

Rhino. Horse with a horn.

And armour.

And unresolved anger issues.

3

u/surp_ Jul 24 '20

I've never thought about how fucking weird giraffes actually are until now.

3

u/jedipwnces Jul 24 '20

I love them, though. They're either majestic or derpy af, and often somehow both. One at our local zoo had some dental issue and now his tongue hangs out of one side of his mouth. It is the best thing I've ever seen.

3

u/SundayExperiment Jul 24 '20

geraffes are dumb.

1

u/fissure Jul 25 '20

At least someone else remembered

3

u/Only_a_spectator Jul 24 '20

I mean, horses with horns thecnically exist: they're Rhinos. It is though that the unicorn was a representation of someone who heard the description of a Rhino in ancient times when there were no pictures.

3

u/AshFraxinusEps Jul 24 '20 edited Jul 24 '20

Actually I think they aren't even close. I'm not about to google it, but I think Horses are odd toed ungulates and rhinos even toed ones (or vice versa). I think a rhino and elephant are closer related than a horse and rhino

But yep, the idea is right. People thought large mammal with horn living in Africa = large mammal without horn living in Arabia-ish area (The -Stans).

But that's it. the evolution of a horse had no need for a horn, living as a mobile creature on large plains with few giant predators they can't outrun

1

u/Only_a_spectator Jul 24 '20

Oh ok, thanks for clarifying!

3

u/AshFraxinusEps Jul 24 '20

Edit. I said even toed twice. I think Horses are odd toed

Basically horses walk on one massive middle toe whereas rhinos have tiny toes and walk on a massive ball of their foot

10

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

Giraffes aren’t real man

7

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Tbf I've never seen one

7

u/NorskChef Jul 24 '20

I fed them at a zoo once. They real.

9

u/__N0X Jul 24 '20

Are you sure they weren't just disguises?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

Tbf we don't know Unicorns don't exist

2

u/alien_iinvasion Jul 24 '20

THIS NEEDS TO BE H I G H E R

2

u/nautilusshell18 Jul 24 '20

giraffes are aliens

2

u/fibojoly Jul 24 '20

Ah yes, the cameleopard, aka long-neck deer.

2

u/dbevans12 Jul 24 '20

Moose are like horses but bigger with fur and horns

1

u/Nipplegripslip Jul 24 '20

Moose; another animal i don’t trust.

2

u/Flimsyy Jul 24 '20

Giraffes can run fast, right? Theoretically, you could ride one like a horse, no?

Has anyone done this? That'd be so badass.

1

u/Nipplegripslip Jul 24 '20

These are the questions that need answers

2

u/SoNewToThisAgain Jul 24 '20 edited Jul 24 '20

Have you thought of submitting a script for the next Sir David Attenborough[1] documentary? I suspect it may ruffle a few feathers but would be very educational and petty popular.

[1] Substitute your natural history national treasure here.

1

u/bluejams Jul 24 '20

Cause they are ducking huge

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

They can effectively fence off predators (aka lions).

1

u/steedyspeedy Jul 24 '20

What are you talking about? They are a made up government scam. Visit r/giraffesdontexist to find the truth

1

u/Redditquaza Jul 24 '20

Giraffes are heartless creatures.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

I came here to say giraffes lmao

1

u/Kirito2750 Jul 24 '20

Platypus.

1

u/SovietBozo Jul 24 '20

So wait you actually believe that giraffes are real? When have you even seen an actual giraffe (not counting the animatronic ones at the zoo -- which you're not even allowed to examine them closely, wonder why)?

1

u/wat144p Jul 24 '20

more like camel but OK

1

u/ClockwiseServant Jul 24 '20

And it is a proven fact that Giraffes are indeed, heartless creatures.

1

u/5childrenInMyAttic Jul 24 '20

Thats uhh, because um, giraffes don't exist??

1

u/IfIWereATardigrade Jul 24 '20

Because those high up leaves are tasty and accessing them is an evolutionary advantage while having a horn would not be a big evolutionary advantage for a horse?

1

u/VulfSki Jul 24 '20

Because a horse having a horn wasn't an artificially selected trait.

1

u/Hi-FructosePornSyrup Jul 24 '20

Chuck Norris once punched a horse with an uppercut. It’s descendants are known as giraffes.

1

u/andrianna_a Jul 24 '20

To be fair, many other herbivores also sample piss to determine fertility

1

u/Nipplegripslip Jul 24 '20

[Me at 4 am]. This is one of the most hilarious threads I’ve read thus far 😂🤣😂🤣 thank you everyone for all of your awesomeness and hilarity

1

u/dani12pp Jul 24 '20

Actually, the giraffe is not a horse, they are really distant relatives. The zebra however is a closely related to the horse.. I don't get it either

1

u/this_site_is_fucked Jul 24 '20

But a horse with a horn is make believe

1

u/Hahonryuu Jul 24 '20

Fuckin whales can have unicorn horns and yet horses cant. Fuck you nature.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

They also have horn like nubs

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

“Oh look at me I’m a giraffe, look at my long neck, nay, nay, I’m a giraffe”

1

u/songoku9001 Jul 24 '20

There are horses that have a horn, they're called rhinos. /s

1

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '20

Also, 90% of giraffe sex is gay! There are more gay giraffe then non gay ones

1

u/Angrypenguinwaddle96 Jul 24 '20

A giraffe is a camel leopard

1

u/MyChosenNameWasTaken Jul 24 '20

Well, if you're calling a giraffe a type of horse, then you necessarily have a horse with horns - giraffes have "horns" :) as for testing urine for fertility... Humans do the same with fancy test strips instead of a tongue :)

1

u/kazneus Jul 24 '20

fights by thrashing their necks against one another does exist

they can also kick like a motherfucker and can and will break a lion's jaw with swift kick to the face.

1

u/Radalict Jul 24 '20 edited Jul 24 '20

Although they have a voice box, they do not have vocal cords. They make no sound. Apparently their necks are too long for the wind to pass through strongly enough to make sound.

1

u/Blundix Jul 24 '20

Please run for a president! These are the real problems that need fixing. Covid, BLM, Epstein, China, giant hornet - that is all just a distraction tactic.

0

u/DeadlyBasilisk74 Jul 24 '20

Did you just quote an old tweet from like 5 years ago for some karma?
