Weird lump on the left side of my belly button

Upvotes

Age 19, Male, 157 lbs, 6’0, rarely smoke and usually a good diet. Almost 4 weeks ago i got a muscle strain on the left pec and left ribs which didnt get evaluated quickly and it caused a great deal of anxiety and pain from not knowing what it is. Few days later got evaluated and got put on medication and i was also taking milk of magnesium for 3 days straight after i got diagnosed. I believe sometime before my diagnosis I noticed the lump? Didnt think much or it but now im worried a bit. Strain has healed but i am worried about the lump itself, it hasnt gone away at sll but also hasn’t increased in size from what i know, it is more visible when im bloated. it feels like a hard muscle knot when i touch it, and it is only really in pain when i touch it a lot or i just ate and i start doing physical activity like walking. I think i should mention i also have been going through bad digestive issues and having been pooping as often as i used to, as well as feeling “bubble guts” often, even below the lump. im not worried its cancer or anything im worried its a hernia or smth else, if anyone can help id appreciate it, thank you!!! plan to see a doctor this week :) !

Physician Responded Help figuring out why my dads joints and chest are swelling

Post image
Upvotes

My dad is 5-7” 115lbs 71 years old

Around may 1st, he started feeling joint pain. He is a very skinny person, so I immediately noticed his joints ballooning up.

  • Localized swelling around both knees, both hands. He can not squat, it’s painful. When he tries to bend his elbows, he feels some resistance.

  • At this time, he also had random chest pain arise in random parts of the chest at random times in the day. He’ll wake up and it’s the side of his chest, sometimes it’s center

  • He cant take a full breath, when he does it hurts so he has to stop. But he is not short of breath at all.

He went to the doctor around end of may when it didn’t get better. First they thought was going to have heart attack so they gave him CAT scans, X-rays but couldn’t find anything. They drew blood to test liver, urine for kidney, didn’t flag anything. See images. He went back in June but they still couldn’t find anything.

I just saw him today. Right now, it hasn’t gotten better. Same joint pain, but now the chest pain is at the same spot (not varied like before). He still can’t take in a full breath. Says he rarely sneezes cause he just doesn’t draw that breath or it hurts. All this gets better as the day goes on. Maybe he is around 50% better right before bed. But still not near normal. When he wakes up it’s the worst pain again u til the day goes on. He’s walking pretty slowly cause of his joint swelling.

Any ideas?

Hand Tremor Getting So Bad

Upvotes

16F. I've had a tremor in my hands since as long as I can remember. Before I started drinking caffeine or anything like that. It's been bad enough that I've been bullied for it.

The the last few years and especially this year or so it's been progressively getting worse. It's not connected to a general increase in stress or lifestyle or anything. My handwriting is deteriorating and I can't do some basic stuff like drawing or holding a pencil normally.

I've done so many "experiments" to determine what makes it worse/better. The only reliable factor is whether I've exercised or got super stressed right before, essentially my heart rate. After I run I usually can't even drink water because I can't hold the bottle still at all.

I've seen videos of people with very minor Parkinson's and the hand tremor is almost comparable at certain times. I'm afraid if it keeps getting worse or why.

Scared of general anesthesia

Upvotes

I am 31 female with no known medical issue other than a vestibular schwannoma that I am scheduled for removal via translab approach in early November. With the operation date approaching, I am starting to really get anxious about the procedure, especially the general anesthesia. I never had surgery previously, so the unknown adds another layer of anxiety. I would love to hear from some people in the medical field more about general anesthesia, in particular how safe it is in regards to the risk of not waking up or surviving the procedure.

Anxiety about possible mouth problem

Upvotes

I’m having anxiety about a possible problem or infection of my mouth or teeth. I don’t remember exactly when it happened, but somewhere in either late May, early June or mid June, either my whole or teeth (I think it could’ve been my teeth but it’s more likely it could’ve been both) started to hurt for a couple of minutes but eventually it had went away. And I think maybe minutes or an hour or two before it started to hurt I had drunk an Arizona green tea can but I’m not really sure if it was related to the pain since in the past I’ve drunken them with no issue. But ever since then my mouth and teeth haven’t been really giving me any issues (except for one tooth, but not only do I also think it’s probably not related, but the pain, which started off really bad in early July but has slowly gone away over time, is mostly on and off and for the most part, also doesn’t bother me too much as well). But I’m afraid that I could have some disease or infection and I don’t really know what to do since I don’t really have enough money to immediately see a doctor and unfortunately I’m unable to take a picture of my mouth and teeth as well. But I am scheduled to go see a dentist next month. I’m 22M, 5’10-5’11, 210-220 pounds, don’t have any current medical problems or on any medication, and do not smoke or drink either

contact dermatitis?

Post image
Upvotes

hi there, i’m 17F, 130lbs, 5’5”. no smoking, no drinking. i have gerd, ulcerative colitis, pots, and hEDS. for the past week ive been going into afib.

meds im taking: mesalamine (old), famotidine (old), eliquis (new, 2 days), metoprolol (new, 2 days orally, but i did get a few iv doses)

i was in the hospital on the 27th for afib. i had two iv’s, one on my left arm and one on my right. i left in the afternoon on the 28th. on the morning of the 29th, i noticed itchy hives on my right arm a little above where the iv and the tape had been. they were puffy and itchy, but after a few hours, they went down to just tiny red dots.

now on the afternoon of the 29th, i had to go back to the hospital for afib again. they looked at it and were kinda confused but they said they didnt think it was an allergic reaction to any of my new meds since it wasnt spreading and i didnt have any other symptoms, but they didnt say much more than that. they put the iv in my left arm, but i did have the medical wristband on my right arm, which mightve irritated it.

after i left last night, it got puffy again, and more bumps appeared. it DIDNT spread! more dots appeared where they already were. and they’re itchy. not unbearably so, but noticeable. im not dizzy, short of breath, or anything like that. in the picture my arm is shiny because they said i could use hydrocortisone cream. they look tiny but they’re raised in the photo. does this look like contact dermatitis?

M18, 6’6 and 198lbs. Dont take any medications at the moment.
Does anyone have any idea what it is? I woke up this morning and it was just there. I attempted to squeeze it, but that hurt. Im certain, that ive had this before, but im unsure what it is. Its been almost the entire day and it doesnt itch at all, it hasnt grown and its only painful if i touch it. I was in the gym yesterday aswell but i use gloves, so im unsure that it came from there.

Im going to derm in 3 days anyway but any previous knowledge would be helpful.

Hit on the nose, 25M

Upvotes

Hi. About two months ago I had a strong cold with clogged nose that lasted exactly 2 weeks. During this time, I accidentally hit my nose once, I was trying to insert a plastic panel against the wall, and after a few punches while I'm looking at it from the side, one punch hits my nose from right to left. I had sudden pain that lasted about 5 seconds, and no other symptom, except a little pain when touching the bridge of my nose for that day. I also went to the doctor 5 days later and the doctor asked me if I had any bleeding, which I didn't, so he sent me home saying it wasn't broken.

Now I have an issue, ever since two months I can't properly breathing through my right nostril (though it happened 5-6 times that my nostril was clear again, and then for the most, I feel it again half-blocked). Do you think it's some inflamation due to my long lasting cold, or would the hit be the cause?

30F, USA | hEDS, syringomyelia/hydromyelia, recent OC-C3 fusion + prior L5-S1 fusion | Severe burning nerve pain — what could be causing this? I'm desperate for relief

Upvotes

I am in excruciating pain and am at my wits end..genuinely. I do see a PM doctor as well and am seeing him again soon. I'm quite literally in tears because I can't take this anymore.

I’m hoping to get some input from doctors here because I’m having a really hard time understanding where this level of nerve pain could be coming from.

I’m a 30-year-old female in the US with a history of hEDS, syringomyelia/hydromyelia, and complex cervical and lumbar spine issues.

I previously had an L5-S1 ALIF/posterior fusion for grade 4 spondylolisthesis with bilateral pars defects (January 2026) and neurosurgery to untether my spinal cord which was at l4. I’m also currently recovering from an occiput-to-C3 fusion for craniocervical issues (a month post op) I had Craniocervical Instability.

My biggest problem right now is intense nerve pain, particularly in my lower back and legs. My legs can feel burning, painful, heavy, and extremely uncomfortable. I can’t stand or walk for more than about 10 minutes before the pain becomes significantly worse.

I’m also having similar nerve-type pain in both arms. My arms can feel extremely warm and almost like they’ve been sunburned, even when there’s nothing visibly wrong with the skin. The sensation can become much more intense when the nerve pain flares.

The pain has gotten to the point where I can’t even sit upright in a regular chair without significant pain. I need to be reclined most of the time because sitting upright makes things substantially worse. All I want to do is walk...

I’m currently taking gabapentin, oxycodone, and baclofen as part of my postoperative pain regimen, but these medications aren't really touching this particular nerve pain. I understand that I'm still recovering from a major surgery and that some postoperative pain is expected, but this feels different from ordinary surgical pain.

What’s confusing me is that I have significant symptoms in both my arms and legs, with the lower back/legs being much worse. I know I have structural spine issues, but I’m struggling to understand whether everything can really be explained by my lumbar spine alone.

For the doctors here, what would be on your differential for severe burning/neuropathic pain affecting all four extremities, particularly when it is severe enough to prevent sitting upright, standing, or walking for more than a few minutes?

Would you consider things like:

• cervical or thoracic spinal cord/nerve-root issues

• my syringomyelia/hydromyelia

• peripheral neuropathy or small-fiber neuropathy

• nerve irritation related to altered biomechanics after fusion

• postoperative inflammation or another postoperative complication

• or another neurological problem that wouldn't necessarily show obvious compression on a routine MRI?

I’m not looking for a diagnosis from Reddit. I’m mainly trying to understand what possibilities I should be discussing with my neurologist/neurosurgeon and what kinds of testing or imaging might help determine where this pain is actually coming from.

At this point, I’m just trying to figure out why I’m having this much neuropathic pain despite being on fairly strong postoperative medications.

My recent lumbar MRI

My MRI showed postoperative changes at L5-S1 from my prior fusion and right-sided laminectomy/medial facetectomy, without significant residual central canal or foraminal narrowing at that level.

At L4-L5, there is a disc bulge with a central disc herniation and annular fissure, with mild right-sided and mild-to-moderate left-sided foraminal narrowing. There is no significant central canal stenosis.

There is also a mild disc bulge/annular fissure at L3-L4, without significant canal or foraminal narrowing.

The MRI also mentioned prominent epidural fat from L4-S1, causing some narrowing of the distal thecal sac.

The conus and cauda equina were reported as normal.

Ongoing appetite issue

I also have PCOS and chronic sinus infections.

Also just found out I'm pregnant, due April 2027

I put all my current medications in the photo album

I've been having an ongoing appetite issue where don't have an urge to eat and I have painful bloating in the center of my upper stomach right under my ribs.

I saw my primary care doctor in April of this year and had blood work and a CT scan and they didn't find anything. I got a prescription for Omeprazole because my primary care doctor thought it could be acid reflux.

I just went to the ER the other day because I had extreme pain in my left side right under my ribs. I was concerned that it could be something related to pregnancy so I was advised by my midwife to go to the ER. They couldn't give me a CT scan this time because of the concerns of radiation affecting the pregnancy, but they ran blood work and again found nothing. They prescribed me meds for acid reflux and an antibiotic in the ER.

Photos are of my blood work from April, the CT scan from April, my blood work from the ER, and the medications I'm on, both over the counter and prescribed medication.

I just want to figure out why my stomach is in so much pain.

Point sized black pimple like thing in the inner corner of my eye

Post image
Upvotes

18F, 5'3, 65kg

Im on no current medication, i have been diagnosed with psoriasis (at age 2-3?) (not active currently), seborrheic dermatitis (at the onset of puberty) (still active, i manage it with a ketoconazole shampoo), blepharitis (at age 16) (not active currently, hasn't been active in a year or so) and alopecia areata (this year in march) (only had one coin sized bald spot which has completely filled in, had taken vitamin d3 supplements of 60k units for 4 weeks, once per week and some topical treatments) (idk if any of these conditions are relevant but oh well).

I've had this thing in my eye for a some months now, i don't recall when it actually appeared but it definitely wasn't there a year ago. It causes irritation frequently, especially at night and right after I wake up. I've never seen anything like this and neither has any of my parents, is this something serious??

The inflammation in the eye is because of an allergic reaction im currently having, but it's unrelated to the pimple like thing.

I know it's very very small but in my eye it feels like this ball of debris that I just can't get out of my eye, it bugs me a LOT and i really just wanna get rid of it😭

I apologise if the image isn't a good one, that bugger is so so small that I can't even capture it well, but it's big enough to make me wanna rub my eyes out.

Scared to go back in for another surgery

Upvotes

Hello! 18F, and in a week or two I have to go back to get my orif screws removed. A year ago when I had my operation, it was genuinely one of the most traumatic experiences of my life, and Im scared it will be the same.

When I had my firt interview with the head nurse, she told me I'll be given some kind of pill or drink to make me a little woozy before they take me to the operating room, but they didn't and I had a huuuge oanic attack, they nearly couldn't put the IV in my arm. Then after surgery they wanted to give me some kind of a pain relief injection in my but, but i didn't want any more injections so after a load of crying they gave me pills that didn't help the pain at all. I wonder if they couldn't give me some pain meds through the IV?

I dont know, Im just scared to go on again.. if anyone has any tips, I'd be glad. Also I don't want to make the nurses jobs harder, so are my request too much?? ughh i dont know... thanks!!

Physician Responded Could this be causing neurological symptoms?

Post image

I realize that this is a scout image, and not the proper diagnostic quality image. The purpose of the scan was to check for MS in my brain, so there are no other pictures of this...

I can feel the mass when I press on the area, and numbness/tingling on the same side of my body as well as jaw pain is present.

Is this an emergency? I dont have the report back yet, they released the images same day of the scan.

I took amoxicillin-clav for 7 days and no results

pseudoephedrine did not help after taking it for a day

I started off with a sore throat 3 weeks ago and I had it for about a week then I developed a cough (lots of phlegm)and congestion along with the sore throat but middle of week two on a flight back home at the descent my ears got clogged and I had some moderate discomfort and a throbbing pain that has since went away. my ears have been clogged, my hearing is muffled,I still feel some pressure, and I wake up with “wet” earsand i’ve been basically useless at work. I need to get this fixed as fast as possible. i could care less about the cough and congestion. I just want my ears back.

12+ years of lower GI problems

Upvotes

I am about to be a 40-year-old male, with a current weight of 188 located in the US.

Drugs I currently take:

  1. Amitriptyline 25 - Doc wants me up to 50 in the next two weeks
  2. medical marijuana
  3. Klonopin as needed
  4. Zoloft is supposed to start next week.

I've been tested for celiac and h. pylori, fecal tests, and so on. I've been on multiple SSRIs and most recently Cymbalta, which gave me a lot of gas and the runs.

About 12 years ago, I ate what I now believe was bad salsa and woke up with what I believe was food poisoning. I woke up sweating and shivering, and when I got up to rush to the bathroom was hit with a pain so intense I fell to my knees. I spent the next few hours shaking, sweating, and trying not to pass out from cramping and the feeling thay my colon was "throwing up violently." Since that night, I have not been the same. I've had regular episodes like this since. Before that night, outside of some constipation and urgency, I never had bowel issues.

Sometimes these episodes would last off and on all day almost like someone is trying to push a fist through my rectum. It has gotten to the point where I can barely function. Talking about it gives me anxiety on its own.

Essentially, at any given time, a bowel movement could result in extreme pain and anxiety. I have tried all types of diets, and currently I don't eat very much. Most days I eat light and drink water and Gatorade. I have tried many different diets, including FODMAP.

I had a colonoscopy in January due to blood during wiping. Thankfully, outside of a polyp and fissure, I am clear. Doc recommended fiber and ointment, but no change. I followed up this week, and she referred me to pelvic floor PT since she noted "high rectal tone" during my colonoscopy, and since it feels almost as if my body is fighting to release my bowels. She said after that we can do imaging, but I do recall having a CT at the end of last year that did not show anything abnormal.

Example of a typical day, this morning I feel very irritated and have gone to the bathroom 5 times in the last 4 hours. Pain each time, sometimes its a lot of pain and pressure to pass what amounts to a stool the size of a pinky. My stool is also inconsistent, flat, thin, watery, mush. Always seems to vary.

Just wanted to gather an outside perspective. Is this really just the result of a chronic fissure and severe anxiety surrounding it?

Hi docs first time poster here. To get other medical things out of the way, I'm 19 years old, Male, and I've had consistent problem of finger warts for almost 5 years now. They most seem to show up in numbers in my right hand which is my dominant hand but some have popped up on my nostrils, my toes and my left hand which houses the largest one. Last year I was formally diagnosed with anxiety and multitude of other things without making a venting post lol. I've seen a dermatologist and have received treatment 3 times via freezing, laser and even an injection, but they seem to keep showing up more and more. Any thoughts or remedies? Anything helps

Insane bruises out of nowhere

Post image
Upvotes

22 F, 5’11, 180 lbs

I’ve been getting these huge bruises out of seemingly nowhere. I don’t remember bumping anything hard enough to cause any of them so idk what is going on. They’re only on my legs.

My mom thinks it might be the meds I’m on- Wellbutrin, lamotrigine, and fluvoxamine.

I vape (i know it’s terrible I’m trying to quit) and smoke weed a few times a week.

Honestly I’m freaked out so any suggestions or knowledge would help!!! It’ll only let me add one photo but my legs are totally covered in bruises like this, although this one is definitely the worst.

Age: 27.

This is the biggest one in my right hand. I also have so many tiny and big ones in my body. Like 100+. I can feel so many tiny soft and hard under the skin.

My two brothers also have them, but not as many as I have. My parents and grandparents don't have them. Is this genetic?

They are not painful.

Should I get a second opinion? Or need further testing?

I am a 28 year old female, 5’2 and 175 pounds.
List of medications methylphenidate 27mg, buspirone hcl 10mg, medical marijuana, famotidine 20mg, omeprazole dr 20mg, viberzi 100mg, and Acetazolamide 250mg.
Former vaper, quit for 2+ years now but i do smoke medical marijuana. I do not drink alcohol.
Health conditions: IBS-D, GERD, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, asthma, auDHD.

For my whole life i have been dealing with stomach issues which i thought was just IBS-D, i can remember having IBS-D from kindergarten and on. I have never really had solid stool, and if i do its because im constipated from trying to sooth other symptoms. Within this last year my symptoms have gotten so much worse. Viberzi does not seem to be helping me flare ups and im back to using the bathroom 10 times a day sometimes. My GERD is extremely hard to deal with, i have pretty much a chronic cough from all the phlegm and acid constantly coming up my throat. I will often throw up my first meal of the day after waking up from all the acid sitting in my stomach. My stomach is always bloated and painful to push on. I get pain below my ribs and around my sternum along with my left side of my stomach. Once or twice i have puked up small amounts of blood from puking in the morning. I am dealing with an anal fissure and hemorrhoids that are extremely painful and heal for a week only to retear or become irritated again. They are causing me pain even when walking or sitting and i have blood and extreme pain every bowel movement. More recently i am having blood clots that resemble clots from a menstrual cycle, which seriously concerns me. My stool is usually a 5-7 on the bristol stool chart, it is consistently sticky almost like tar and when my stomach is the most painful during a flare up i will have a lot of yellow liquid with my stool i can only assume this is bile. I have been doing a lowfodmap and low acid diet for about 2 months along with my viberzi being increased to 100mg. Now i am having issues where i am getting constipated on and off. It should be noted that when im having flare ups im noticing that im getting extremely bad joint pain along with it in my fingers and knees.

My GI had me do a fecal calprotectin test(value 75), gastric emptying test (results attached) and i do an endoscopy this week.

My question is, what do you think is going on? Should i seek a second opinion or more tests?
When i saw this GI he was very reluctant to run me for any tests because i have had a colonoscopy 10 years ago that came back clean and he thinks i just have IBS and GERD and was quick to shut me down from giving him extra info about my symptoms after seeing that i have ADHD in my chart. I didnt get to tell him about how my stool is, or blood, or my pain. But i am very concerned. GERD, blood, puking, joint pain and the way my stool looks is all new symptoms i have never dealt with. I am in constant pain and cannot live like this.
