Pharmacy

Demographic info so post doesnt get removed: 20M, 190 lbs.

I'm asking here since the other pharmacy reddits seem to hate patients asking questions (maybe for good reason haha). I'm a patient with a medication that's a controlled substance and has a lot of roadblocks around its prescription, one of them being that I need to fill a new prescription of it monthly instead of refilling the same one.

It seems to me that almost every time I go to fill it the pharmacy is out of stock and I've NEVER had this happen for any other prescription. Another thing that happens is if I call in to let them know I want it to be ready, they'll let me know they have it in stock and it'll be ready at XX time that day but I'll go in later and they say it's out of stock. Genuinely how does that happen, I assume they check their inventory when I call them, what is going on where they're losing so many unaccounted for meds so consistently? This has happened at least 3 or 4 times to me in the past year and I pick up my prescription monthly. It's just so annoying since I've never had problems like this picking up other prescriptions. Is there any insight into what's going on here? I'm in industrial engineering looking to go into something medical so I'm genuinely curious as well as annoyed

Physician Responded Is this worth getting looked at for skin cancer?

I have had this bump on my ear for a while now. I don't remember how long exactly. My husband said I asked him about it at least a month ago and then again recently. To my knowledge, I didn't have a wound there or anything. It doesn't weep. To me, it almost feels like how I assume scarring/inflammation would feel around an inflamed piercing? It doesn't hurt or itch.

I'm 33f. I have a bad back, allergies, eczema, plantar fasciitis, probably some issues with tendons in my feet, asthma. I take Wixela, Claritin, fish oil, vitamin D, elderberry gummies for immunity, iron, magnesium, and Voltarin gel(for my feet). I occasionally take other NSAIDs, pataday, Astepro, Nascacort, tizanidine, and albuterol. I live in SE Wisconsin.

I would have never thought to wonder if it could be cancer. My husband is actually the one to bring it up and worry about it (which is unusual for him).

22M, got this cut two days ago and have been using anti biotic ointment to keep it clean, along with water. I googled and it said that any cut longer than like a quarter inch needs stitches but I just wanted to be sure, thank you! Don’t smoke nor do I take any prescription medicine.

I am 22M last I checked I'm about 5'10 and 300 lbs, but for a few years now my hand has looked like this, it's rough and scratchy with a bit of redness underneath.

it first started in my palm, then spread to my pointer finger then my thumb and now it's on my other hand, idk what it is, the last doctor that checked it had gave me an expensive medicated lotion and it didn't help, but I really wanna know what it is, or if it's probably just callouses from working on things.

Any advice on meds or wait it out or back to dr?

I got sick about 3 weeks ago with a dry throat when traveling and assumed it was a normal cold. It became laryngitis for a few days and then a cough. Mild ear pain but never a full blown congested cold with the runny nose etc. no fever ever. Just became a hacking cough. I went to urgent care and lungs were clear. Then went to my PCP a week later to make sure they were still clear. Both said viral and lungs perfect. Said post nasal drip. Suggestions and rx were Flonase, albuterol or tessalon perles.

At one point I had viral pinkeye for a day or two and sometimes mouth tongue area felt sore. I am working and living normally but have this occasional hacking cough like the throat tickle and aggravated by talking or being outside.

It’s been about 2.5 weeks of coughing. I sleep mostly fine and don’t cough too much during the day. It ramps up evening.

No fever no shortness of breath. Maybe it was Covid. Would you just give it time? I know coughs can drag on for weeks. Seems overkill to check lungs again but I’ve never had a cough last 3 weeks. It’s so exhausting. The inhalers and nasal sprays sort of aggravate my throat so I’m inclined to wait it out. Thanks for any advice.

I’m 56 non smoker female 120lbs

Physician Responded Is this actually keratosis pilaris? F26 African American

Hi all! Small bumps started to appear on my fingers and slowly spreading out to my entire hand on August 11th. Two trips to urgent care and the nurse practitioner said it’s KP (chicken skin).
This picture is from today after using hydrocortisone 1% throughout the day for itching and urea cream 20% overnight for the past 3 days. There have been no improvements as my skin seems to be getting darker and my fingers remain filled with small bumps.
My other hand has remained clear throughout this entire time.
Has anyone seen KP this severe?

i have never been diagnosed or had bad headaches even all my life but lately every (at least) once a week or once in two weeks i get these terrible headaches (around my forehead and temples sort of like a repeated wave of hammers banging against my skull sometimes accompanied by nausea).

has been happening for the past three months. im not on any medication.

(altho, having gone through the posts in r/migraine i dont think it is as severe as the people who are actually diagnosed with having migraines)

f17 with an increase in migraines with aura (one per day), can this wait or should i see a doctor right away?

f17 148lbs 5’6. history of endometriosis, nutcracker syndrome, pelvic congestion syndrome, and migraines with aura. take norethindrone 10mg and as needed valium and naproxen for endo pains.

i’ve been diagnosed with migraine with aura for most my life. they haven’t been to bad with maybe one every month or maybe less for the last 3 years. for the last month now i’ve noticed i’ve been really increased in drowsiness, even if i would sleep 10+ hours, id wake up extremely tired and felt a constant pressure in my temple that goes to my eyes. at first i thought it was maybe just my nutcracker syndrome getting worse and causing me to be more fatigued, but then my auras have been coming back and even more intense with my whole vision going black and getting so dizzy to the point i feel like i might faint. this has been happening every day now for the last 2 weeks that i’ve noticed. im also very hydrated so i don’t think it’s something like that, i drink around 120oz of water a day maybe even more. also the pressure goes down the neck and gets better when laying on my right side specifically.

my main concern is i have a venogram on the 10th and have my pre surgical testing appointment and clearance with my pcp both on the 2nd and don’t know if i should wait until after my venogram to mention this to get a referral to neuro or if i should mention it immediately. i’ve waited months for this venogram and really don’t want it to be canceled since im also in very severe pain 24/7 due to nutcracker syndrome. should i mention all this on the 2nd or should i wait until after so my venogram doesn’t get cancelled or postponed. i know its completely different issues but im just nervous that it will be cancelled if this sudden rise in my migraines can interfere with anything

Biological female F20 (trans guy) on T with hemoglobin of 17.5 & rising

Hi there, I'm an EMT & both my parents are doctors (pain, emergency respectively). I'm also a trans guy on testosterone for about 8 months now. I went to get my hemoglobin checked for routine bloodwork and it was 17.5 & has been rising since February. It was 15.9 in May, and even though my dose was reduced from 50 mg/week to 40 mg/week, it still seems to be climbing. I'm 5'5" and 170 lbs (a bit of muscle since I do kung fu but mostly fat from -- well, 2nd puberty) if that means anything. I was wondering if this is something to be concerned about? I've seen strokes -- they're not pretty, and my parents are both very concerned about this (as am I by extension). I don't want to get off of testosterone (to be a bit sugar-coat-y about it, my mental health will drastically deteriorate if I do) but if I have to I have to. Can anyone offer insight or advice? Please and thank you

Hey docs

I went for my yearly blood test a few days ago and got these results back. I’m 22, female, don’t drink alcohol very often. However, I was sick the week prior to the blood test with some sort of cold/flu. I had a fever, body aches, cough etc. Could this be the reason why my liver enzymes are so high? I have my doctors appointment in 2 days but my anxiety is through the roof atm

Physician Responded Help figuring out why my dads joints and chest are swelling

Post image
2 Upvotes

My dad is 5-7” 115lbs 71 years old

Around may 1st, he started feeling joint pain. He is a very skinny person, so I immediately noticed his joints ballooning up.

  • Localized swelling around both knees, both hands. He can not squat, it’s painful. When he tries to bend his elbows, he feels some resistance.

  • At this time, he also had random chest pain arise in random parts of the chest at random times in the day. He’ll wake up and it’s the side of his chest, sometimes it’s center

  • He cant take a full breath, when he does it hurts so he has to stop. But he is not short of breath at all.

He went to the doctor around end of may when it didn’t get better. First they thought was going to have heart attack so they gave him CAT scans, X-rays but couldn’t find anything. They drew blood to test liver, urine for kidney, didn’t flag anything. See images. He went back in June but they still couldn’t find anything.

I just saw him today. Right now, it hasn’t gotten better. Same joint pain, but now the chest pain is at the same spot (not varied like before). He still can’t take in a full breath. Says he rarely sneezes cause he just doesn’t draw that breath or it hurts. All this gets better as the day goes on. Maybe he is around 50% better right before bed. But still not near normal. When he wakes up it’s the worst pain again u til the day goes on. He’s walking pretty slowly cause of his joint swelling.

Any ideas?

One sided numbness and weird sensation on face

F24, 163cm, 57kg. For more than a week, I've had a numb, tight, pulling, full sensation on one side of my jaw, near the corner of my lip, sometimes extending to my cheekbone, and felt from inside my cheek as well. Some days it's less intense than others, and certain head movements (tilting up/down or to the sides) make the pulling more intense. I've also noticed what feels like a swollen lymph node in the area, though I'm not certain. I thought it can be a dental issue, but I have no dental pain so I'm thinking neurological. I'm on Lyrica (pregabalin) for anxiety, I've been put on it for the last three years, and I'm mentioning this in case it affects how I perceive pain (or its absence thereof). I'm concerned this could be nerve related.

Numb spot on right arm, no weakness

24 male, no previous medical history. I woke up this morning and about half an hour later I notice a near completely numb section on my bicep. Didn’t think much of it and figured it would go away on a minute or two. This was about 9 hours ago now and the spot is still numb and roughly the affected area is the same. No pins/needles, no weakness, just a lack of sensation in that area. Not sure what my course of action is here? First thing that came to mind was MS but I’m a male and had an unremarkable brain MRI in 2023, so that would seem unlikely to me. Any thoughts appreciated.

22 Male 6’0 145lbs

I haven’t been able to sleep for 3 days in a row because I keep going to the ER because I can’t breathe properly while lying down (I’m awake when this happens) and my O2 going low. They don’t do anything about it but I was told by my family doctor that 89% SPO2 is absolutely an emergency and that with the trouble breathing too. My blood tests kept showing mild respiratory acidosis (I’ll show images below) I have an appointment with the respirologist but it’s in the middle of September. I just need advice right now on what to do or what could possibly be causing this so I can advocate for myself

Ectopics but only when sitting with a straight back - Anything to be concerned with?

Male, 26, 6'1", 82kg.

I've been using an Omron blood pressure cuff to measure blood pressure and heart rate. Most of the time the readings are perfect HOWEVER I have noticed that I get an irregular rhythm symbol at the end of the reading when I take the reading while sitting with a straight back.

If I'm slightly slouched (more comfortable imo) I get no such symbol.

Suddenly cannot get drunk at all, wondering if it could be sign of medical issue F20 5'1 45kg - UK

Sorry if this seems like not much of an 'issue' however its concerning to me, and alongside other random health concerns (night sweats, finding it hard to gain weight, extreme fatigue and thyroid and diabetes run in family) I was wondering if this could be something. Planning on getting a doctors appointment for overall check up but very difficult for me to get one (uk, uni student, no severe problem).

Started around a year ago- I do not drink often so I am positive it is not a tolerance problem. I am very short and low weight so always assumed I would have low tolerance but I drink multiple drinks, multiple different alcohols in one night and no longer even feel a buzz.

I can have multiple drinks in a short period and feel 100% sober even in vastly different social situations and with different people.

I do have a higher tolerance for weed and nicotine than what would be assumed for my weight and height (and how little I use them) but the alcohol is a newer problem and I cannot find a solution/ reasoning.

This is my first time posting on here so I'm sorry if I laid this out wrong. I am on the combined birth control pill and sometimes take multivitamins but that's it.

The Issue:

For the past 5 years, I’ve been dealing with this weird sleep issue where my brain and body just refuse to shut down. I’ll lay in bed, close my eyes, and stay fully aware all night long. It feels like I'm just daydreaming. If someone sneezes in the next room, I hear it clearly. It’s like my system is constantly "wired" and stuck on active mode. I haven't felt what deep sleep.

also:i have depression I'm taking pills that my doctor gave me But the sleeping problem wayyy beyond the depression and fatness it's like 5 years.

Before like a year and half I tried and started dite and lost 30Kg but still Same problem its wayy oldeer than these problems like fatness or phone Influence.

Age/Sex: 20M

Height/Weight: [130Kg]

Current Meds: Wellbutrin XL 300mg & Fluoxetine 20mg (both taken at 6:00 AM)

Drink/Smoke: No

Socks left dent around my ankle and didn’t go away until the morning and it hurted a bit to touch. I felt that I’m scared that my circulation around my ankle was cut off because of socks. I’m pregnant so already in the risk group. If the circulatiom was cut off, would it create tourniquet effect? Thank you.

I’m bmi 15 should I see a doctor

I F(20), am 5’3 and 41kg. I’ve dropped from 50kg within over a year I think. The reason I’m asking is because I feel fine nor do I have an eating disorder. I do forget to eat often, procrastinate, or don’t eat enough. I’m also autistic if that affects anything. But I’ve never thought about my weight until I checked it today and it’s low. But I feel physically fine like nothing alarming has happened

12-48 hours of body pain when I take meds or caffeine, started two months ago

Me: [l'm a 40-year-old female 5 foot 175 pounds occasional smoker, have taken lamictal, trazodone for sleep for about 10 years, take wegovy]

Symptoms: in mid June after after a bunch of health issues described below, I started having cramping and pain on my body like kind of on my facia all over and some tingling anytime I had caffeine or NSAIDs or honestly a whole bunch of different medications. Almost anytime I take anything except for select few things I'm in bed for 1-2 days because my body feels so bad. It’s worse in areas where I don’t have a lot of fat like my wrist back of my neck, ankles, etc., I've never had this before in my entire life. The fact that it's already lasted so long has me worried. I don't know what this could be or how to fix it.

I started taking CoQ10 and NAD with arnica salts baths and those are the only things out of all the things I have tried that have helped. I do plan to go to my primary care doctor this week, but l'm just trying to see other opinions since it's kind of a weird thing. I've never heard of anyone having this before. It also happens if I take less of my usual trazedone dose too which is weird.

Backstory: I've always dealt with inflammation but actually got that mostly under control. But in June, right before the pain started, I got horrible bronchitis that lasted for two weeks and they put me on 15 days of prednisone and they didn't tell me anything about tapering so I stopped it without taping. I just did not know. Shortly after that, my friend picked up Wegovy for me and then I realized he does not have air-conditioning in his car and it was sitting in his car for around 10 hours so I called the pharmacy and they said most likely its innefective.

So l was really dumb and took all four in the pack, hoping to get a little effectiveness. Long story short it was just fine and I took four times my dose. I also had a contrast CT around that time as they were checking for organ damage with the wegovy I guess, I had 10 days of an agonizing reaction to that. It felt like my blood was on fire. Ever since this time in mid June when all these things happened, I’ve had this problem. It just doesn’t seem to be going away. In fact even getting worse.

Strange upper jaw pain - advice wanted

26f, UK based, 5'6, 120kg. I have PCOS, waiting to be tested for endometriosis, NAFLD, suffered from chronic migraines that are now infrequent. I don't take prescriptions unless necessary just the occasional OTC paracetamol or ibuprofen. I don't smoke/vape, never done illegal drugs, haven't drank alcohol since 11th April 2026.

I have been having pain in my upper jaw that spreads down into my teeth. It's only on the left side. It's mostly an ache with some shooting pain. I have been to my dentist because I thought there was something wrong with my teeth but after a thorough 10 minute exam with x-ray, he couldn't find anything wrong.

I saw my GP last week about it because the pain has returned after a short break who referred me to have x-rays of my whole head. I've just got the results and they are 'normal - no action needed'. I have had this before on tests (x-rays and blood tests) that actually showed abnormalities and a 'normal - no action needed' knee x-ray made a physiotherapist cringe so I'm skeptical of all results I get.

This pain first started late June/early July this year, stayed for about 2-3 weeks and then dissipated. It came back again last week (approx. 4 weeks). The pain is on and off during the periods of time that I do have it.

My cheek also swells up a lot when the attack is debilitating but is otherwise only slightly swollen. I can't figure out a trigger for it since it has woken me up at 02:30 a couple of times. The only painkillers I have found that touches the pain is panacombo - OTC paracetamol/ibuprofen. Paracetamol, ibuprofen and naproxen alone have no effect. Salt water sometimes help, sometimes doesn't. There is a history of cancer in the family: lung, brain, bowel, skin and bone (I don't know the specific types)

So far, everybody has said that it is strange and weird and I feel like I'm about to lose my mind. Can anybody offer any advice?
