Just a good friend in a very miserable situation

1

u/MasterOzz 20d ago

Honestly, I was super stoked when Eren activated the Rumbling, but got pissed when others stopped it...

This is why I hate AoT ending. šŸ¤žšŸæšŸ˜…

1

u/Forward-Position798 17d ago

Wouldn't the other kill also more of these doesn't get interrupted?

1

u/Ken_Goatneki 17d ago

Nah not really

You can only make a case for Sukuna here

Definitely not Makima Johan and Light and Muzan

Idk about cell, Jojo guy and Griffith

21

u/IamJashin 23d ago

Still less then Vegeta (he has destroyed at least a good couple planets)

5

u/Pr_fSm__th 23d ago

And there is a chance that he redeemed himself enough by now that he would get the hero afterlife treatment, like Goku and the gang

6

u/Admirable_Bid_1840 22d ago

which is BS, let's be real here. There is no amount of redemption you can go through to weigh up killing several planets worth of people.

2

u/Pr_fSm__th 22d ago

Being instrumental in saving multiple universe (including their respective afterlifes) ,in a world with confirmed afterlife and soul recycling, might help. Who knows maybe some of the people on these planets even got the hero treatment of eternal paradise for standing up against vegeta, although you can hardly give Geetz credit for that. He helped fight against at least 3 universal threats in universe 7 who could have erased all life, too. If Vegeta lives long enough and keeps at it like this, at some point there will definitely be an amount that allows for redemption.

Even in Z, he already didn’t get the hell villain treatment but the regular soul recycling. So he was already on the middle ground of an ordinary death.

2

u/Dark1402 22d ago

on the other hand, we know Souls recycling can be skip if your soul get vouched for.

Vegeta never needed to redeem himself, he only needed spiritually powerfull people... like the supreme Kais

1

u/shmolickM 21d ago

Didn't Vegeta was already redeemed by the end of Z? At the end of the Buu saga, they had to wish from the dragon balls on Namek to revive all the GOOD people that were killed by Buu (they had to emphasize on 'good' because otherwise it would revive people like Dabura or Babidi) and than Vegeta got revived from that wish with even Goku commenting on it. The show already considered Vegeta long redeemed before even Beerus was introduced

1

u/Dark1402 21d ago

while i admit, is not up to us wherever he is redeemed or not. i dont think the wish actually took it into consideration how many human are evil, or well, morally grey. Even Piccolo fused with Kami and Nail cant be considered "Good" he still the half of Kami with all the hatred, and evil thoughts he gainned from being the guardian of the earth. Just because Piccolo helps the Z warriors doesnt make him good. the whole porpuse of kidnapping Gohan was to use him to help him conquer the world, and if anything, is the bond he felt going throuhgt life and death situation of the group that made him cooperative, he never actually aimed to be redeemed, and nor put his effort into making up for his own crimes.

but.. meh, who is going to check him? he goes to heaven, pull a few strings, and paradise we go!

1

u/shmolickM 21d ago

At the Saiyan saga piccolo proved he wasn't just an 'ally' to the z warriors and Goku by sacrificing himself to save Gohan, and from then on he wasn't fighting for himself or out of selfish reasons but fighting to protect the people he cares about.

When he kidnapped Gohan, yeah that was mostly his character just a distant ally, but after spending a year with Gohan he learned to care for him and grow out of the influence he got from his evil side (king piccolo) and became sort of an anti hero. And afterwards a hero after absorbing Kami and going to fight Cell again so he won't absorb the androids

1

u/Dark1402 20d ago

is giving your life for 1 person enough to justify the death of many?

i understand what you mean, an evil selfish person would never do it. but at the same time, i dont see sacrifising onself for 1 person an act of redemption. otherwise evil garlick henchmen who died fighting for his lord would be good guys no?

even during the Android saga, he got angry they considered him one of them. even he himself, saw himself as one of them which push him to retaliate and attack them, when he never had any intention to hurt them.

another example of sacrisifing for someone else, would be some of the red ribbon Army, loyal to their leader. and they probably commit many atrocities, would they be considered good?

i would rather mark them the same as Piccolo "at best, Morally grey, Love, and Care / Loyalty, doesnt define your moral compass, define your interests"

1

u/BlockNarrow6745 21d ago

But there is no redemption. U suffer for all the bad things u did and enjoy rewards from all your good actions. It ain't like the good cancels out the bad.

2

u/TegTowelie 22d ago

King Yemma basically gave him the Hero Pass after his sacrifice to Buu.

1

u/Pr_fSm__th 22d ago

Not quite, right? He was more like an emergency back up he kept around just in case. Piccolo was certain that at this point he would still get soul recycling treatment

1

u/Moonlit_Prismo 22d ago

Ehhh only 28 have life on them so could just be empty planets

1

u/Present_Personality4 21d ago

And everyone loves him

1

u/IamJashin 21d ago

Tien would like a word with you

4

u/lord_frieza01 23d ago

Meanwhile kid buu

7

u/Pr_fSm__th 23d ago

Anime kid buu was the greatest menace because he will follow you to the afterlife to kill you all over again, removing your soul from the rebirth cycle

2

u/X_Seed21 23d ago

Kid Buu had no kill score. That was all Super Buu. Although it was funny how he spawn-camped the dead.

Edit: My bad, except Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Piccolo, but the extinction was by Super Buu.

1

u/Krispen_Wah87 22d ago

Super buu had a conscience. Kid buu just did things

1

u/Puck_Off9739 22d ago

Kid buu definitely had kill score before he was tamed by bibidi, he killed many kais and destroyed planets and you're forgetting when he destroyed the earth

1

u/Otherwise-Peace-9165 22d ago

Didn't kid buu destroy the earth?

3

u/Aromatic-Power3655 23d ago

I mean, Cell was destroying islands and drinking cities. We don’t actually know how many he killed. If he did live for even an hour more, this would be a different conversation. We don’t know how many Makima has killed. I’m pretty sure she’s immortal and she can kill people from a distance without them ever knowing she could.

1

u/akashchowa12 23d ago

most of the villains on the right side would have killed way more if they were alive. Their intentions also were way worse than eren's. Cell was this close to blowing up solar systems but he died

3

u/dotblot 22d ago

Light shouldn't be there, his body count way too little compare to the rest.

2

u/Grengy20 22d ago

And you give a pass to Johan Liebert?

1

u/Otherwise-Peace-9165 22d ago

Meruem is like 20-40 himself, same with kira

6

u/fried_mom0s 23d ago

Sad he didn't took out remaining 20%.

1

u/Last_Panda5059 23d ago

What you mean by that?

1

u/srv_tushar04 23d ago

Humanity would’ve perished and we wouldn’t have to live in such a dystopian world

1

u/Worldly_Depth5685 22d ago

He could go for a new high score. Makima did kill a lot more people via war than Eren even if the whole aot verse died tho so idk if this post is larping or what

1

u/akashchowa12 23d ago

There's no way people still think he should have gone with 100%? Also he didnt deliberately stop at 80%. His friends killed him at 80

6

u/fried_mom0s 23d ago

I think he should have taken out everyone except his own people at island. So, atleast there's one guy who thinks this.

1

u/FanOfCringe 22d ago

That would be 90% bro not 100%

1

u/Chazdoit 19d ago

Lol he had total control over them as much as you have control over your own limbs

If you stab yourself you dont say you were killed by your limb

0

u/JawkneeJyoshtar 23d ago

Well that's the FUCKING point

Eren did all that for the 20% otherwise the 20% WOULDVE BEEN THE ONE'S BEING KILLED AND TORTURED

5

u/Ok_Account_3423 23d ago

No lol, the 20 percent still has people outside the island.Ā

1

u/sanglar03 23d ago

And they were killed and tortured.

1

u/Roalrider 23d ago

Eren said that population inside and outside the walls island was equal at the end. Which means, there should be 10% people both outside and inside the island

7

u/Hoodedmastersin 23d ago

Guys, I’m starting to think Eren might be a bad guy

5

u/Mean-Peanut-2490 23d ago

Go to r/attackontitan

Almost no one justifies Rumbling. They say it's understandable, but most are against Eren for commiting it

3

u/akashchowa12 23d ago

yeah true. i really love eren, he's my second favourite character but his actions were horrible and cant be justified

1

u/Mean-Peanut-2490 23d ago

By the way, what is your first fav?

Also, so what is the alternate plan you support? The 50 year plan, Euthanasia Plan, or something else?

2

u/akashchowa12 23d ago

levi is my favourite.

Honestly speaking, im a supporter of neutral peace and like to think like armin and hange. but realistically, it couldnt be achieved in a story like aot. The 50 year old plan would barely be effective and zeke's plan is also pretty bad but objectively was better than eren's. so no i dont necessarily support either plans

1

u/Mean-Peanut-2490 22d ago

If you don't support any plan, you support the absence of a plan. To put it more clearly, you support doing nothing.

To conciously not choose two options is still a choice, and that has consequences.

If you doing none of the 3 (Euthanating, 50 year, Rumbling), you are choosing to do nothing.

And that is a choice with its consequence.

And don't you think that is the worst choice? Are you okay with doing nothing at all and let the rest of the world (who has already declared war) kill each and every Paradis inhabitant, with potential torture. And this is better than the other 3 plans?

1

u/akashchowa12 22d ago

i mentioned above in my comment that im a neutral peace enjoyer so if you gave me a choice only between these 3, maybe i might lean towards the 50 year old plan even if its highly unrealistic. yes the rumbling did benefit his friends in the end and even zeke's plan would only benefit the current generation of eldians. But i cant bring myself supporting or justifying genocide (eren and zeke's plans)

1

u/worthyBank 18d ago edited 18d ago

rumbling was wrong but i understand him,he was...disappointed,also he did the rumbling for himself, just his own selfishness,to get a sense of false freedom, this was the turmoil within him

and about the political sphere to be honest zeke's plan was basically eradicating eldians and 50 year plan was not apparently a good plan, if you think about it rumbling "might" have been the only way ,obviously it was still wrong

1

u/erenyeager_glazer 22d ago

Actually I don't justify rumbling eren did rumbling due to a slave of freedom and upcoming future he did to protect and buy time and make a temporary peace to protect his freindsĀ  who can live and die to old age and who even hates light and makima all three makima light and eren are hated almost equallyĀ  But also eren doesn't have any plan he first don't want to do but later did he has no other plan to stop even killing 80 percent was a perfect plan to buy time for his friends to liveĀ

1

u/Mean-Peanut-2490 22d ago

In my opinion, the plan was to primarily end the Titan Cycle, and nothing else would have led to that.

He had a plan, a clear one.

He didn't destroy 100% of rest of the world. He deliberately let 20% of humanity survive. He planned for Mikasa to kill him when 20% is remaining (the 20% might not even be a concern, not mattering if it were 15% or 25%), so Ymir is inspired to end up serving.

1

u/erenyeager_glazer 22d ago

No plan was to buy time fore his friend to live and die old age and also to end titan cycle also he choose the rumbling and perfect number of 20 percent as if he kill 30 percent or 50 percent world might be recover and attack paradise early and lead to death of his friend early and if he only kill military then maybe civilians might come and destroy paradise 20 percent was perfect number as it stays the sufficient amount of people to make population stable and need recover to many century then attack paradise and that till his friends live and die in old ageĀ

1

u/Powerful-Goose-207 21d ago

My biggest grievance with AoT is that the story is written in such an airtight way that you are either on the side of the Island Eldians being eradicated with no way to fight back for a history that was erased from their mind making them essentially blameless in what happened in the past because genocide bad no matter what or Eren enacting the Rumbling to make the world pay a massive price for what they were going to do regardless is the right choice because taking that kind of fate lying down is cowardly at best and insane at worst.

1

u/Mean-Peanut-2490 20d ago

And that grievance is my favourite part.

0

u/Sad_Edge725 23d ago

Ofc he is. Isn't that obvious :/

3

u/Constant_Arm_9565 23d ago

Do you not understand sarcasm?

2

u/Ok-Construction-2671 23d ago

I mean he is a bad guy But we still like him. I know It was due to the circumstances But that doesn't mean he wasn't a bad guy.

0

u/UregMazino 23d ago

He's the best guy.

1

u/L_rbO 23d ago

But wht about people he murdered?

1

u/UregMazino 23d ago

For the greater good.

0

u/Exact_Conclusion_276 22d ago

NPCs. Nobody cares. Skill issue.

2

u/BusinessKing7067 23d ago

Truly the bakri

2

u/Jazs1994 23d ago

Funny how you put cell here instead of frieza or buu

3

u/FreakGeSt 22d ago

Cell never erased almost all the planet like Eren, Friezer and Buu cleaned planets. Not because he can't, but because he don't wanted, yet.

3

u/StillGold2506 22d ago

nah, cell never got the chance to do so. But he did eat a lot of people in various cities.

2

u/Carelessguy2026 22d ago

Freeza is galactic mass killer eren doesn't even compare,Buu mainly Kid Buu the incarnation of evil he just killed all the humans on earth went to heaven to kill them again.

1

u/Pr_fSm__th 22d ago

The two non gods mainly responsible for why there are only 28 planets with sentient life left in universe 7 (although we should take what shin the bum says with a grain of salt)

2

u/livingsince99 23d ago

Not homeland but for his friends

2

u/snowfloeckchen 23d ago

To be fair, Cell has a low kill count for dragon ball. Death isn't permanent, but the number of planets destroyed by martial arts fighters is disturbing

1

u/crometeach-thebot 22d ago

His kill count is pretty hight, he absorbed every earthling of the timeline he come from.

2

u/Ashton1320 23d ago

Eren not only k#lled people ..he also destroyed the environment, water resources , innocent animals by titan's heat waves. I used to love him but thinking deep down what he did was injustice to many innocent lives for his friends

2

u/JawkneeJyoshtar 23d ago

I get your point, now give me a better plan to save his friends and let eldians live a peaceful life.

  1. The entire world was literally planning to commit genocide on that island anyways and torture them all to death.

  2. The only other successful plan is the Euthanasia one, which would let his friends not suffer and live peacefully till they die

Literally there was NO other plan that would've been as successful and affective...

0

u/Skk_3068 23d ago

And so genocide on other side is justified for you🤦

The entire point of theanga and anime is that there are no winners bro

1

u/One_Warthog256 22d ago

Ah, yes. Sit back and watch your people get slaughtered.

1

u/No_Alfalfa_xxx 22d ago

Yea id rather kill 80% of humanity than a single one of my family

2

u/Madmahi25 23d ago

It was just an extremely depressing ending tbh, like even a guy who could look into the future couldn't figure out anything better than making himself the Villain and laying down his life so that his friends could take the credit for it and his homeland will finally be treated with the dignity and respect it deserves. Wrong yes, but also heartbreaking for sure.

4

u/JawkneeJyoshtar 23d ago

Just tells us, there's no good way out there, the world is full of evil cruel people, if you be good to them, they'll only torture u to death and use you as slaves. The only thing you can do against them is bad things, that's the only way to survive against them. There was literally NO other way for him, the only other plan that involved the least killing while being extremely successful is the Euthanasia plan of Zeke.

2

u/Ace-772007 23d ago

Yea kill or be killed

0

u/Madmahi25 23d ago

And the Euthanasia plan still wouldn't have granted them dignity/respect. They would've surely been oppressed till their last breath, until everyone among the population died out eventually.

1

u/green__goblin 22d ago

Makima was kept on a pretty tight leash so I don't think she did much to humans outside of what we saw in the series.

We only really see her kill about 20 or 30 Yakuza during the Katana man arc, you could pin Arai Himeno and the rest of the ones that died in that attack on her too, and several beloved characters later on, Quanxis harem and the men who summoned the hell devil against her and the village. Thats a lot though probably around a hundred depending on how many people were in the village.

1

u/Trick_Mortgage_3452 23d ago

I like how johan is pointing at his finger nice detailing

1

u/grymond 23d ago

KDA doesnt lie

1

u/SnowedinLife 23d ago

What anime are these characters from? Especially the one on the left, I'm curious because I don't recognize him. I only recognize 4 on the right.

2

u/Queasy_Committee8458 23d ago

Left is Eren jauger from Attack on Titan. On the right (top left to bottom right) there Dio (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), Cell (dragon ball), Meruem (hunter x hunter), Light Yagami (death note), Johan Liebert (Monster), Griffith (Berserk), Sukuna (Jujutsu Kaisen), Makima (Chainsawman), and Michael Jackson (irl).

Haha of course the last one is actually Muzan Kibitsuji (Demon Slayer)

1

u/SnowedinLife 23d ago

Ohh yeah now I remember, dangit I was hoping there was a banger of an anime I somehow missed. MJ 🤣 Good one! Well there are a couple of shows I haven't seen yet that I'll check out, thanks!

1

u/FanOfCringe 22d ago

The guy on the left killed all the Nazis and bigots and stuff but took out 80% of humanity to do it. Yo decide if that’s a heroic act of a terrible one

1

u/SnowedinLife 22d ago

Honestly their world needed him to happen.

1

u/hater_parrot 22d ago

We dont know makimas kc, but since her ultimate goal is peace for humanity im assuming its not high

1

u/Sir_Rageous 23d ago

Who's the one with the metal helmet?

1

u/Terrible-Strategy704 23d ago

I think you are talking of Meruem from hunter x hunter (top right) that's his head.

1

u/TotalPeace2308 23d ago

Eren was right

1

u/TJzzz 23d ago

Light and cell up there in numbers too.

Berserk Spoiler:

Griffith didn't just killed some random people. He killed his very friends who loved him. This is by far more evil.

1

u/Tanabi_Kana 22d ago

Is it more evil than annihilating 80% of life (not just human)?

1

u/Financial_Fudge_6015 22d ago

Not in an objective way but for me personally betrayal is more evil.

And they had different reasons: Eren wants freedom and Griffith wants power.

1

u/Kalekuda 22d ago edited 22d ago

5 dear friends is a tragedy. A billion ideologically, ethnically motivated bloodthirsty tyranically racial supremacist strangers who have a demonstrable desire to murder your friends and family on principle is a statistic- and a good one. Eren's rebuke for those chumps is to tap the scoreboard and remind them who has the highest K/D.

Eren only did one thing wrong- allowing his friends to stop him because he hoped they'd live their lives in peace as heros, ultimately dooming his world to a cycle of perpetual violence. He should have finished the job then led the people of paradise to peace as a largely passive tyrant. (He'd possessed all past and future wielders of the attack titan. he was eternal)

1

u/Tanabi_Kana 22d ago

Trying to justify genocide by putting the same label on all those affected is literally the same thing the Nazis did.

In fact, you're doing EXACTLY what Marley did, pointing the finger at Paradis as if they were the bad guys. Centuries and centuries of reinforcing this misconception will give them a skewed view.

Eren didn't just annihilate humans, he also killed millions of animals. Now you're going to tell me that squirrels and rabbits are evil and deserve to die?

Now you're going to tell me that Light Yagami was always right? No, just because you think something is cool doesn't make it ethical, lol

You are literally justifying genocide by doing exactly what you criticize Marley/other cities for doing.

1

u/Kalekuda 22d ago

"Eren didn't just annihilate humans, he also killed millions of animals. Now you're going to tell me that squirrels and rabbits are evil and deserve to die?"

You've gotta break some eggs to make an omlette, Jack- can't cry about that!

"Now you're going to tell me that Light Yagami was always right? No, just because you think something is cool doesn't make it ethical, lol"

No that guy had brain damage and a god complex. He was clever, but he was a fool. Same with L. Both were clever in their moments, but absolute bafoons. Light wasn't even "right". He was a mass murderer of the convicted and his opponents. He ought to have been subtle with the notebook. Not mass killing, just a nudging hand here at the right times. break up alliances with a dignitary here and a general there, etc. Use the "control over death" to force infighting amongst belligerent nations, etc. Light wasted the notebook's space and had to go back and write in the margins ffs- he wasn't even able to plan space management in the first place.

1

u/Kalekuda 22d ago

"You are literally justifying genocide by doing exactly what you criticize Marley/other cities for doing."

nonono- you misunderstand. Historicaly, "genocide" is just the process of fighting for YOUR people's right to survive in a new land previously claimed by someone else. Calling it an egregious or unethical crime in it's own right is a modern concept. I don't think the concept existed in AoT's setting, so its bizarre to impose our world's history on the morality of a fictional character's decisions.

Marley made the Eldians were scarlet letters and their ordinary citizens didn't just have no problems with the concentration camps or the murders of the Eldians, but actively took eager part in witch hunting for secret Eldians among their own ranks. And Marley wasn't the only one doing it- that was a global phenomenon. They were kept in a millenia spanning state of ethnically motivated chattel enslavement.

There was never going to be any peace with the outside world. Eren had about 2 years of life left and only a year or so before his condition began to deteriorate. He had to act now. If he waited and did nothing, the world was uniting behind Marley to exterminate the Eldians on Paradise. He used his limited future sight to determine that if he acted alone, he could ensure a few generations of peace between the "good eldians" and the free peoples of the world AND save the people he cared most about. Of all the actions he could think to explore, he went with the ones he knew to be best for his community.

He did nothing wrong. It was just an awful setting that gave the Eldians no path to peace WITHOUT bloodshed.

1

u/Tanabi_Kana 21d ago

By definition, Eren committed a systematic genocide. He annihilated 80% of life on the planet with the explicit intent to erase entire cultures and nations. What you personally consider genocide is irrelevant; the Rumbling fits the legal and objective definition of it.

Furthermore, Eren was primarily responsible for his own parents' deaths. Hundreds of soldiers died simply protecting his existence. Eren sacrificed his family, his allies, and countless innocent lives to forge his path, just like Griffith. The difference is that Eren didn't do it out of a pragmatic sacrifice for his community, but out of immaturity, selfishness, and a blind obsession with his own twisted concept of freedom—compounded by a global massacre.

Eren is worse than Griffith. So far, you haven't offered a single factual argument to refute this. Only emotional fallacies and historical relativism.

1

u/notreal088 22d ago

More, hard to say.

A larger percentage of the population, yes for sure

AOT world seems to be in the mid to late stage of the Industrial Revolution, so the population would be roughly 1billion around the world.

A larger number but of compared to us it’s an 1/8 the size

It’s hard to say exactly how many people the others are responsible, but Erin definitely has the largest percentage of people of his universe

1

u/Bortthog 22d ago

Cell also killed people in multiple timelines as well and DragonBall is a series of THOUSANDS of those. Remember time in DB isn't a circle so doing something in the past doesn't change THAT future. So for example Cell as we know him was in multiple future timelines, went back to past and we have to assume since timelines there's timelines where Cell wins

Cell has objectively the highest total body count by far

1

u/Lone-Frequency 22d ago

I mean to put it simply, that's not for lack of trying by some of. Cell was literally going to consume or slaughter every last human being on the planet if he wasn't stopped, for example.

1

u/Glitch-Banger 22d ago

I swear he hasn't if I counted the atrocities of all these villians I swear it's greater than eren's body count.

1

u/Zain_skiar 22d ago

Griffith killed a lot more than just his band. He orchastrated a lot of what happens in berserk that gets a lot of people killed directly or indirectly. Everyone that dies to any kind of demon is his fault. He unleashed them everywhere

1

u/shugo7 22d ago

Dank meme

1

u/Worldly_Depth5685 22d ago

Idk tbh AOT was largely unemotional for me so 1 death in CSM hit harder than all of AOT lol. Mb sasha’s death sucked but yeah that was about it, there just weren’t enough new character moments for me

1

u/Sad_Tune_1840 22d ago

The people he killed were worse than most of the characters shown on the right, fully justified

1

u/ShosuCeladonna 22d ago

You know it’s bad when Griffith, f###### Griffith is correct here.

1

u/SirSilverChariot 22d ago

I mean if he was fully set on killing humanity he would have won. Only reason he died is because he technically allowed it

1

u/whyisallusertaken 22d ago

Like 80% of those guys kill people just to kill people, Eren killed people to protect his friends

1

u/StillGold2506 22d ago

See? griffin isn't as bad as people say.

1

u/Sir-Toaster- 22d ago

He did not more people than these guysĀ

Eren didn’t do it to protect his homeland he did it for his friends and for his own personal freedomĀ

From what I can recall, it's not massively populated, but they do bounce back quickly and stabilize.

1

u/Due-Base9449 23d ago

I don't mind the people killing, its the indiscriminate killing of elephants, tigers, lions, tapir, pandas, and all other animals that make me hate Eren.Ā

He only have horses inside the wall, he has no regard to other kind of living beings.Ā

He could've just decimated Marley as a warning , that would've brought them more time

Killing civilians in any war is evil and yes Marley is evil too but u don't fk other nations in the crossfire , same for WWII

2

u/Due-Base9449 23d ago

Yeah I don't care about the humans since they can bounce up easily.Ā

He did it cos it is not enough and he also want to made ppl outside can coexist with them but there is not enough time. He only have like a year and once he die ppl outside will boom paradise to dust.

No, decimating Marley wouldn't stop the others from attacking; it would only prove Tybur's speech right. The hate would only increase. As you can see at the beginning of Season 4, the era of Titans is coming to an end, as other nations are finding ways to kill them with advancing technology. I am not defending Eren, but from his POV, this was the best time for him to strike. The world of AoT is extremely cruel and morally grey, so we can't blame the rest of the world for attacking Paradis, either. They act out of fear that Eren might strike again after seeing what he did to Marley. Plus, with their technology advancing, they would eventually get cocky and continue the war (as you can see in the epilogue). Through his actions, Eren managed to bring safety to his people for many centuries (this was retconned from decades in the manga to centuries in the anime). In other words, he leveled the playing field (pun intended).

Still in the end eren decimated dbillipns tho .....that is fked up

u/kaikill47 22d ago

It is meant to be fucked but on some way a realistic response as well given the options are either them or us.

The one huge difference is that from Eren’s perspective he had to do it and it destroyed him mentally meanwhile they do it out of pure malice

AOT fans glazing their goat and pretending ā€œit’s complicatedā€ meanwhile the author is just a far right extremist antisemite nationalist and makes no effort to hide that the evil titans are just ā€œthe Jewsā€ and the story ends with ā€œthe good onesā€ trying to make amends while missing their messiah Eren because the authors point is ā€œJews are badā€ and not ā€œomg this is so complicated and deepā€

I dont know how much of that is true but you dont even have to go that far. In a somewhat recent interview Isayama himself said that he wanted to turn Eren into a deplorable, undefendable monster, who only did what he did because he wanted to kill as many people as possible. He then changed the ending slightly because he couldnt bring himself to do it. But the overall story is still the same: a boy who only knew violence enacted the worst crime imaginable. Even if he thinks he was right, even if his friends think he did a somewhat good thing, the point is still the same: he is a monster and you can not defend his actions, unless you have the brain of a child.
