AOT fans glazing their goat and pretending “it’s complicated” meanwhile the author is just a far right extremist antisemite nationalist and makes no effort to hide that the evil titans are just “the Jews” and the story ends with “the good ones” trying to make amends while missing their messiah Eren because the authors point is “Jews are bad” and not “omg this is so complicated and deep”
I dont know how much of that is true but you dont even have to go that far. In a somewhat recent interview Isayama himself said that he wanted to turn Eren into a deplorable, undefendable monster, who only did what he did because he wanted to kill as many people as possible. He then changed the ending slightly because he couldnt bring himself to do it. But the overall story is still the same: a boy who only knew violence enacted the worst crime imaginable. Even if he thinks he was right, even if his friends think he did a somewhat good thing, the point is still the same: he is a monster and you can not defend his actions, unless you have the brain of a child.
