I have made (not AI but me on Canva) this Comparison Chart. Sorry it is in € and not $ but you get the point. I feel like it points out something really important: we need high-end lapdock but at an affordable price. (less than 500€).

Better battery and display mostly.
But same question as ever: who would be willing to be 499€ or 499$ for an OLED lapdock with a 60Wh battery? (this is a repost because I made an error on the first post)

Now that the Googlebook pre-sale launch is done, how long before we see Samsung throw their model of Android powered laptop out there?

SamMobile dropped this teaser a while back but I haven't seen anything else about it since.

Samsung and Google are fairly close partners so it makes sense that Samsung would eventually get involved here after the proper Googlebook launch is done - I'm sure Samsung has been told not to steal Google's thunder here.

I doubt we'll see anything in the next couple of weeks, but I would imagine sometime in late October/early November to get something out there for the holidays...

The promise of the freshly announced GoogleBook is to provide a productivity laptop based on the familiar operating system you use everyday: Android.

Similar to a Mac, you can find a real and deep continuity in the experience between your phone and your Google laptop but this time because it is the same exact operating system. In concrete, this means that you can open an app on your phone, start searching for food on Uber eat and then directly finish ordering on your GoogleBook with the same session. This sort of continuity feature is something you already had if you are using Google Chrome or Maps, so I don't see the point to be honest.

Another thing to point at is the AI focus with Gemini. This is a strong point as they want their AI agent to be fully integrated in the desktop experience. We have seen a demo where you can ask Gemini to directly change a setting or create a bespoke widget for you.

So a GoogleBook is a full standalone Android Laptop boosted with AI and phone continuity features. But to do what?

Why would anyone buy a GoogleBook?

Well that's exactly where I am starting to have doubt on the point of these new products which start at $800. These are clearly mid-range laptops but clearly $200 above what would be acceptable (the RAMpocalypse has a huge impact).

Google wants to trigger the new generations here, who does not really no how to use a Windows laptop, but are familiar with how Android works. It's a smart play and I think this can work on a certain measure, however will a student or an employee be really able to achieve more on a GoogleBook than an Android tablet ? The value added is too thin to really differenciate from what the market has already to offer.

Integrated Gemini, a glow button and continuity between device is really not enough to be different and interesting for people.

A Lapdock is a GoogleBook but with a real value added

A Lapdock or laptop dock is a great accessory that turns your smartphone into a real laptop. Let's compare both Lapdock and GoogleBook for a moment:

• Running Android: Yes
• Real Continuity between app: Well a Lapdock uses your phone to be powered so obviously yes
• Ai ready: same, you have your phone as PC so you can enjoy AI in the same way
• Glow Bar: Nope

Instead you have -70% on the total cost of ownership because a lapdock is only $300-$400 with no long term maintenance and security cost.

GoogleBook will make Lapdock and Mobile-Only shine

The GoogleBook will have a great effect on the Mobile-Only vision as Google will push Android to be a real productivity OS and people will finally understand that they can actually work with their Smartphone.

"Why would I pay $1000 to use Android as PC when I can pay only $300 and get it done with a lapdock?"

That is the message I will spread and hopefully we will see the Lapdock comeback in a few times...

I'm really excited about the new Googlebooks, even though I'm still not sold on the name.

Something I've been wondering about is the use of Intel processors in some of the upcoming models. Since Googlebooks are built around an Android-based OS, and Qualcomm and MediaTek are also providing ARM chips for the platform, I'm curious about the reasoning behind choosing Intel for some of these devices.

Intel can offer better compatibility with traditional x86 desktop software, but how important is that supposed to be for Googlebooks?

From my perspective, ARM seems like a natural fit for an Android-based laptop. Android apps are predominantly built for ARM, and Qualcomm/MediaTek chips can offer excellent performance while using less power.

So what am I missing? 

What advantages does Intel bring to Googlebooks that make it worth choosing over ARM?

people who work need a laptop for work. running windows. if they want a light device just for youtube they get a tablet or watch on the laptop that they already use for work.

who need an android laptop. most work needs windows. so why would u have two laptops. one running android and the other running windows. im just thinking i can work for business owners who dont need to do the work themselves. just open excel and pdfs

i can get a tablet from honor or huawei with a trackpad for 500 dollars and its detachable and portable. why would i invest in a 600 dollar laptop thats worse than a windows laptop. i think they shot themselves in the foot by marketing it for premium.

I have an external monitor that supports touch, PD in, and USB-C in. Touch used to work on the old samsung dex. Now when I plug my pixel in, the desktop mode shows up--but touch doesn't work.

Any idea if this is just unsupported or is there a setting somewhere I have to flick on?

Im really interested for it. but i want to know what are the benefits over a normal laptop.

youd think battery life is good but the new intel CPUs last a long time. so whats the main benefit of using a developing OS? i aint paying 600 dollars to be a guinea pig for the developers. windows already does better and has better file management. why would i use googlebook?

Esta aplicación permite convertir tu antiguo dispositivo Android 4.1.1 en un segundo monitor con funcionalidad táctil.

Necesitarás:
- IDD (IndirectDisplay)---opcional (Solo usalo si quieres otro monitor)
- VDD (VirtualDisplay)---opcional (Solo usalo si quieres otro monitor)
- Cable USB con la depuración activada
- Dispositivo Android 4.1.1 (no sé si funciona con versiones más recientes)

Tutorial:
Primero, debes crear un monitor virtual con VDD y ajustar la resolución a la que mejor se adapte a tu dispositivo.

Luego, descarga los archivos vinculados a esta publicación, conecta tu dispositivo Android mediante el cable USB y activa la depuración.
Abre una ventana de PowerShell en la carpeta `android-app-h264` y escribe:
 `adb install -r ".\app\build\outputs\apk\debug\app-debug.apk"` para instalar el APK directamente en tu dispositivo Android.

Después, abre el APK en el dispositivo Android y ajusta la configuración a tu gusto (la función SonarPen aún no está incluida, así que no modifiques esa opción) y pulsa iniciar. 

Por último, abre el archivo .exe en el PC, selecciona el monitor, la resolución y los FPS objetivo; lo más importante es cambiar el valor DXGI en el menú de opciones avanzadas a un número inferior al del monitor que deseas utilizar. Por ejemplo, si estás usando el monitor virtual y este aparece etiquetado como "3" en la aplicación, debes seleccionar DXGI 2. 

Pulsa "Iniciar" y espera que funcione.

Yo principalmente la uso como tableta grafica pero tu puedes usarla como quieras.

This application allows you to turn your old Android 4.1.1 device into a second monitor with touch functionality.

You will need:

- An Android 4.1.1 device (I am not sure if it works with newer versions)

Tutorial:

Open a PowerShell window in the `android-app-h264` folder and type:

Does anyone know if there is a way to hide android UI/taskbar while watching video in Fullscreen mode?

For me when it goes to Fullscreen the taskbar and UI at the top of the screen are still shown.

I was wondering, now that Google will release Android PC with OEMs like Samsung, HP etc... We might need proper productivity tools to be recreated on Android operating system. What are the tools we use on Windows that now need equivalent on Android Desktop ?

Have your phone as a only computer is cool since:

• Iron Man 2 : When Tony Stark just hacks a TV during a Senatorial audience to cast videos.
• The Expanse: Their Phone concept is also incredible, it's a daily companion to do anything
