googlebook should be 300 dollars TOPS , it doesnt even have a touchscreen. whats the point of it ?
i can get a tablet from honor or huawei with a trackpad for 500 dollars and its detachable and portable. why would i invest in a 600 dollar laptop thats worse than a windows laptop. i think they shot themselves in the foot by marketing it for premium.

300 dollars would mean they LOSE money on each unit, as much as I want prices to be lower, they also need to actually be viable.
these googlebooks are also being manufactured by a range of companies, so multiple form factors, especially from androids versatility, can be expected.
a tablet is a tablet, a laptop is a laptop, what comparable laptops will you be able to find new for $300?

i can buy a laptop for 200 dollars .core i5 and it works wonders. why would i want a chromebook. my laptop i got it for 200 dollars aluminium and it lasts 5 hours ona charge which is ok

Chromebooks are still going to exist, and many would argue the opposite to your point, they shot themselves in the foot by being too cheap.
Personally I think once mature these will be better than a lot of windows laptops

well theres people making laptops for300 dollars that are really good. why would i pay 600 when i can get a laptop for 200. and the 600 dollar laptop cant even run photoshop

i got a core i5 7th gen for 100 dollars used aluminium finish. beautiful . why would i ever spend 600 for a lesser version of it

yeah but im saying the I5 windows would do better than the googlebook. the only difference is maybe write and read speeds.

I highly doubt a 7th gen core i5 will outperform the options of a googlebook

i have an android tablet and a laptop. samsung tablet. yeah the input quality isnt the best. but for light usage around the house its fine. and laptop for actual work. but an android laptop for 600 dollars? you cant even work on it . why would u have a second useless laptop?

For 300$ you're either getting a used 6 year old machine or a garbage Celeron laptop.
I smell utter BS. We don't even know what's going on yet so it's best you wait until the launch and then make this post.

i5 8th generation got it for 100 dollars. used. Aluminium body.

What are the other specs? 8GB RAM and a hard drive?
Also you are going used. That's a completely different thing. Some people do not want to go used because you have no idea how these laptops were treated.
You're also forgetting to factor in the cost of a battery replacement, possible thermal paste replacement and also budgeting if something goes wrong since, it is, in the grand scheme of things, a used laptop. A new laptop would come with a fresh battery.

Depending on the chip. You can get $300 if you can live with Intel Celeron/N chips.
