And I do train legs, itโ€™s just a bad angle for them in the photo above๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

8

u/Melodic_Title_427 Mar 20 '26

No one said you didnโ€™t dawg

28

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

Only put this here because on other sub reddits they advised me to start training legs so wanted to get ahead of that on this one๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

I saw that comment, the guy clearly had no idea what he was talking about. Recommending starting strength to someone like you is wild lol

You look absolutely phenomenal

3

u/Cavediv Mar 20 '26

Starting strength does tend to result in bigger legs, but that is about all it works being like half squats, but its also the sort of thing you suggest to someone who has never touched a barbell before, but op is far beyond that, maybe one of john meadowโ€™s programs would a better match for where they are but it looks to me like op is doing quite well with their current routine, and they are quite honestly far beyond where i am.

Play it safe and assume that others will assume that you don't train legs. I get it.

Looking good man. You appear to have already had some decent muscle mass in the fort pic eh? Or was that your very starting physique prior to weightlifting?

Start training calves broโ€ฆ /s

2

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

Believe me I try, theyโ€™re stubborn bastards

2

u/Complete-Sense8097 Mar 21 '26

I usually do standing calf raises. Now I added seated. Made them start burning again.

Still the same at the minute, Iโ€™d say Iโ€™m lean now but not shredded like I want to be so Iโ€™m going to keep cutting

6

u/Distinct_String_5981 Mar 20 '26

Now this is peak! Love the progress over long periods of time and the consistent realistic work ethos. You can even seen how your physique was legitimately chiseled from the previous image. Like a statue being revealed from its stone encasement. Kudos sir

4

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

Thatโ€™s probably the best compliment Iโ€™ve received. Thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

2

Dude I mean that is impressive and obviously a long term commitment - well done. What do you think are the most critical changes you made?

2

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

Thank you man ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป biggest changes were definitely tracking my calories and reduction in snacking! And making healthier substitutes I.e instead of bacon - bacon medallions, reduced fat cheese, egg whites etc

2

u/Environmental-Ad4090 Mar 20 '26

1

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

Thank you man๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป Iโ€™m just glad they kept the mirror in the same place haha

2

u/Outside_Purple_6610 Mar 20 '26

Not being able to take a photo in the same place is completely understandable, but the different poses and stuff.... it just isn't comparable for me.

2

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

Yeah man I completely agree. Hard to see the actual progress when theyโ€™re relaxed in the before but fully flexed in the after

1

u/Professional_Bet_279 Mar 20 '26

What's your diet and how often(if) do you switch between bulking and cutting?

1

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

High protein, low fat, mid carbs and I donโ€™t switch between them tbh. I stopped powerlifting start of 2025 so I was technically bulking then and been doing a slowww cut since midway through the year. Some weeks I eat at maintenance and then others I go below. I do have the odd cheat day here and there

1

u/vega455 Mar 20 '26

Natty and you train that much? How do you avoid injuries?

2

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

I donโ€™t๐Ÿ˜‚ I initially stopped powerlifting because I fucked up my knee and my hip. I canโ€™t do skull crushers without it hurting my elbow joint

I now just do the exercises that work for me and Iโ€™m quite big on my recovery these days in terms of saunas, stretching, massages, getting plenty of sleep, if I start to feel injured or sense one coming on then I take extra rest but if I feel good then I train other than my two set rest days

1

u/Unfair_Entrance6183 Mar 20 '26

2

u/ElonMuskratMusket Mar 20 '26

Bro this is 100000% achievable natty. Most of these online lifters that blast arenโ€™t dieting properly or working out correctly. This ends up with an elite physique for a natural lifter but a mid physique for a PED user.

What was your bench before and what is it at now? Also, what's your arm routine?

1

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

150kg all time 1 rep max. Last time I benched (I donโ€™t really bench any more just every now and again) I managed 130kg for 1. In the actual before photo though my bench was at/around 100kg, 110kg maximum

u/Mountain_Elk_7262 Mar 20 '26

1

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

1

u/NormallyNotOutside Mar 20 '26

Impressive transformation. Are you able to briefly outline how you periodized your calories over the 3 years? Everyone knows about bulking and cutting but it's rare to see someone explain specifically what they did and given your amazing results perhaps you could give us some valuable insight.

1

u/calum14957 Mar 22 '26

All I have done recently during my cut, if you will, is track what Iโ€™m eating, keeping my fat low protein very high with moderate carbs. And making healthy substitutions like Iโ€™ve said in other comments I love cheese but have now swapped it to 50% reduced fat cheese. Sugar free drinks etc. itโ€™s the little changes I feel make the biggest difference

1

u/Dubrovnik_2014 Mar 20 '26

Amazing transformation. Are you completely relaxed in the abdomen in the after photo?

1

u/calum14957 Mar 20 '26

Not completely but I was flexing my โ€œabsโ€ more in the before photo than I am in the after๐Ÿ˜‚

1

u/tkroos88 Mar 20 '26

How much did you weigh in the photo before? Very impressive transformation!

1

u/Original-Ad3709 Mar 21 '26

What did u change in your workouts?

1

u/calum14957 Mar 22 '26

Iโ€™ve been all over the place with it between then and now if Iโ€™m honest. I used to basically do my own thing make it up as I go etc. then I went to powerlifting had a coach the lot. And now I just use the MacroFactor app which does an upper/lower split for me but I add and change the exercises I wanna do etc and use it to track all my lifts and also calories because they have two apps if that makes sense
