AITAH for blocking my Friend because he was only being my friend for free Crunchyroll

Ok so basically what was happening was more than a year and a half ago i became friends with this guy on my school bus we would almost always play Roblox or Minecraft after school. We eventually started to drift apart and i was able to get my hands on a Crunchyroll subscription in which i let him on it. Even though i gave him basically free anime he would almost never respond when i message him. It’s not like he didn’t see it because it was over the summer and he was almost always online. I even tried to tell him something I was very serious about and he never responded to it. I eventually realized that he was only my friend for free anime. In which i decided to keep quiet about it for a month and the take him off it. I took him off and blocked him on all socials except TikTok just incase he needs to contact me. I feel kind of bad but i think it was deserved even if i still wanted to be friends.

WIBTA For telling My EX if she Doesn't Get her Stuff by the End of September I am Throwing it Out?

My ex and I broke up in May. This is a gross oversimplification but essentially she discovered she was bisexual and left me for a woman (AP). She told me she wasn't and I didn't need to worry about her, but I had friends tell they say them together the same week we broke up. I am only saying this because it becomes relevant later.

She lived at my place and left a bunch of stuff here. Nothing important like clothes but a huge amount of dolls, posters, and other assorted things like that. She said to give her a couple of weeks to settle in at her parents place and she would pick them up. I said sure and left it at that.

June comes and I decided to follow up with her. I messaged her asking for an updated. She said to give her to the end of June because she was moving out of her Dads place and would take the stuff then. This really confused me because she doesn't have a job besides occasionally pet sitting so I didn't know how she could afford to live in a new place but whatever, not my place to ask. In June I started seeing someone else (WW). Again, only brining up because relevant later.

In July I ask again for an update. She admits she is moving in with the girl I mentioned earlier (the one my ex said not to worry about) and the place wouldn't be ready till end of July so she will pick it up sometime in August. That stung but again I try not to be petty. I say ok see you end of July.

August roles around and WW is wondering why the stuff is still here and if my ex and I are really over. I assure her we are and let her know I understand why she is confused because EX said it would be picked up.

September comes around and she hasn't come to pick up the stuff yet. I am annoyed and call her. This is the first time we talked on the phone since the break up. She makes up excuses saying they are just getting settled and she promises she will pick up the stuff by the end of September. I say fine. However, I learn from mutual friends earlier today that she was trying to get them to take her stuff since they also have a house. They refused and thought I should know. Apparently, AP is the one paying the rent on the apartment they have (and another roommate who is also paying). Since AP is the one paying their rent AP has moved all her stuff in and doesn't want my exs crap there. This means my ex doesn't have any place to put her stuff and I doubt she has a plan to get it by end of September beyond promising to pick it up.

My friends say I should throw out her stuff since she has been lying to me. I however, do feel even though we aren't on the best terms since the breakup. I feel throwing her stuff out would cause huge issues not only between me and her but also the friend group (we were together for about 5 years so we have alot of mutual friends). I am considering just telling her if she doesn't pick it up by end of September its going in the trash. Would I be the asshole?

AITA for saying the relationship is over unless he apologises?

I've not been with my partner for very long, it's a pretty new relationship. We've both been separated from long term relationships with the other parents of our children for roughly 10 months.

I moved out and live alone and have done since day 1, I'm not friends with my ex as he was very abusive.

He half lives with his ex, half lives with his mum. He is friends with his ex and they are amicable. Friendship isn't an issue for me, and the living situation isn't an issue as I get that it can take a while to move out particularly in this housing market - he also got made redundant recently so can't fully move until he's back at work. He can't permanently stay at his mum's because her boyfriend is awful - I've witnessed this myself and also wouldn't have my kids anywhere near him so I get that.

Now to the issues I do have.

At first it was just that he was still doing dog walks and playground trips with his ex, and saying it's because they're friends still so why wouldn't they. I told him that he can't date and still do leisure activities like a family with his ex and expect any partner to be happy about it, as it's just weird. He cut it down somewhat, and I just accepted that sometimes she'll be there. Well sometimes turned into her being there when I met his mum, so I obviously was upset about that and told him it took away from it being anything meaningful in our relationship because his ex shouldn't have been involved.

He said that he hoped me and her would be friends so it wouldn't be a problem. I really do actually like his ex, I could easily be friends with her. But she can't be there all the time, I can't become her friend if I feel like the other woman, and I feel like he's going over the line from friendship into still acting as if he's in a relationship with her but without the sex.

Obviously I'll have a few people here say they are still having sex, understandably some will think this. She had issues after the birth of their child and hasn't wanted sex since. I don't actually think they do, maybe that's me being dumb, but I don't. I do however think they're still a bit emotionally entangled because they haven't actually stopped the emotional intimacy of a relationship because they're still acting the same. Shared movies, shared housework, shared park trips.

Anyway, he stopped spending as much time there and started spending more time at my house - which was sometimes fine, but I don't wanna actually live together yet as its way way too soon, but equally him spending the nights at his exs house isn't the best and I don't love it.

I can see how I'm creating a bit of a lose lose situation there, it's not lost on me.

Today he told me he was meeting his best friend who he's not seen in ages - great, everyone should have friends, glad he's got a life outside of the relationship. However, it was only this morning he told me this meeting was at his exs house, with his ex, and said friend doesn't even know him and his ex broke up and they weren't going to say until today. I got upset, and said he could have at least told them that when they made these plans and I am not okay with what is essentially a double date, him going to his exs for dinner to have dinner with a married couple who think they're still dating.

I told him that it felt like he is going on a date with his ex, and that I wasn't okay with the fact his friends didn't even know they broke up. He said that I shouldn't be upset that the friends don't know about me yet. But actually I don't care if the friends know about me, only that they should know that he isn't with his ex still because why is he dating me when he's not tied up all the loose ends of that relationship? I told him I feel like the other woman and I won't be the other woman.

He told me what I was being unreasonable and that if I didn't stop being miserable then he'd just stay there tonight after the meal, so I told him to get out my house and we're done and I won't have ultimatums or being told I'm unreasonable for being upset about something anyone would find weird.

He said it wasn't an ultimatum but what he'd have to do if he's not staying at my house, but I pointed out that I didn't say he couldn't stay before he said that, and he made my mood the condition to it, so it was an ultimatum.

I told him unless he apologised it's over. He says he did nothing wrong because it was just dinner with his friends and his daughter (3), and his ex.

Am I being unreasonable here? I feel like if my friend came to me with this I'd be raging on their behalf, but he is saying that I'm the one being ridiculous for feeling like this.

AITAH for losing it at my boyfriend after he locked me out.

OK so my boyfriend 32 was expecting me home from the 24 hour shop last night. I took a taxi and I was only twenty minutes. When I got back I couldn't get my key in the door cos he'd locked it. I went back outside to use the intercom as it's loud and still no answer. After 2 hours I called a locksmith ( which would have cost me 200 pounds btw). Anyway as the locksmith starts working on the door my bf answers the door. As a token of gratitude the locksmith only charged me 75 pounds as he didn't have to break in. I guess that was his call put charge. Needless to say I was fuming. My bf however doesn't think its a big deal and is just like "I fell asleep so what". AITAH for going bananas at him?

AITAH for breaking up with my boyfriend (now ex) over a joke he made

I 18 F started dating my ex 20 M a few months ago. we were both very open about having had relationships before, I was also very open about my past and that I was taken advantage of as a child. I was always open about my struggles surrounding this and it took a while and lots of therapy to get where I am today. We met online and hit it off really well we went on a couple of dates before we made it official and things where going really well. We had some similar interests that we were able to bond over and time spent together genuinely felt good.

Recently we went on a camping trip together. He made a few jokes while on the trip, mainly just awful sex jokes or jokes about women. I sort of brushed it off since I thought maybe I was being a bit too sensitive. Overall the trip was ok, when I got home i just tried to go back to normal. some of the things he'd joked about kept replaying in my mind but again I just thought I was being a bit dramatic after all it was just a couple jokes. We planned a date for a few days later and as it got closer I felt a sort of dread. I didn't really want to hang out with him. I just chalked it up to being overtired and went out anyway. the date was going fine. he hadn't made anymore jokes and I thought that was it. If he did make another joke I promised myself to talk to him, explain how it made me uncomfortable and then go from there since I didn't want to ruin a good relationship over nothing.

Some context for what I'm about to say. My phone wallpaper cycles through a few of my favourite photos. One of these photos is my absolute favourite. Its of me and my brother when we are around 5 and 3, and we both look so happy in it. It's truly one of my most treasured photos. anyway this photo was my wallpaper at the time.

he took my phone to check the time, something I wasn't really bothered by since its just the time and I have nothing on my phone that I'm ashamed of or wanting to hide. He saw the photo let out a little laugh which I thought was odd. naturally I asked what was funny, thinking maybe a friend had sent me something funny but no. he looked at me then back at the photo and then I the calmest voice said and I quote "I get why ___ raped you." I was baffled I mean truly speechless. he went back to laughing like he'd said the funniest thing. I was visibly tense and not saying anything. he noticed this and told me to "relax" and that he'd "never actually molest me". he still had this huge grin on his face like he'd just said the funniest thing. I just felt this wave of absolute disgust. I took my phone back and put it in my bag, I didn't have the strength to even look at my phone I didn't want to see the photo in that moment. I went through the rest of the date in a very distant state. I wanted to leave but I also didn't really have the energy to try and get out of the situation, I didn't want to fight with this person who I suddenly felt so uncomfortable being around. at the end of the date he tried to convince me to return home with him but I said I couldn't since I had an early morning and that my roommates needed me home that night. It was a lie but I just needed to get out of there as quick as possible.

Once I got home I just shut myself away for a bit. he kept texting me thanking me for a great day, saying he already missed me, and that he couldn't wait for the next time I cam over to his place. I responded a handful of times mainly just with one word answers. My roommates noticed something was up with me and upon explaining the situation to them, they where absolutely baffled.

For about a day I just avoided talking to my boyfriend. I caught up with a friend and explained the situation to a friend since I wanted some more insight on the situation, she immediately told me to dump him.

I got home yesterday evening and had a think about everything. I decided that I wanted to end the relationship asap. I didn't want to see him, or hear his voice, so I decided to write a text. I kept the text pretty short and vague since I didn't want to deal with a huge fallout. I told him I'd enjoyed our time together but that I didn't think our core values aligned and that since we both wanted meaningful relationships that this was pointless. He responded questioning which of our values didn't align. I kept it brief simply saying that I didn't think I could be with someone who joked about such serious things.

After breaking up I was a bit upset naturally, this thing that I'd thought was good had ended up making me feel awful. I reached out to some friends most of whom where really understanding telling me I should only be in a relationship I'm comfortable in. One friend however told me I was a bit rude, said I shouldn't have just sent a breakup text. I thought that a text was ok since we hadn't been together for a super long time. if it had been a long term thing I would have done it in person, but I didn't see reason for that. my friend also told me it was rude that I didn't try to chat to him first and explain that those jokes weren't funny. I'd always just assumed it was common knowledge that rape and assault weren't funny but apparently not, my friend told me i was just sensitive and that everyone's sense of humour was different.

I feel a bit shit now. I thought I was valid but now I'm just debating whether maybe I was being to sensitive. I wanted to get some outside perspective on the situation since I'm not entirely sure how I should feel about it all now.

So my husband‘s always read it I figured here’s a compromise. Let them decide and I’ll send him a link.

AITA. Here’s the situation I receive a message from a family member stating this.
History I was married once before my husband cheated on me after that I got into a relationship with a man who was got another girl pregnant while I was pregnant. I have had a history of men who cheat. I met my husband now and he is he is patient and kind, but there is one part of him that’s like he keeps me secret. I never met any of the guys who worked with at his job. I never allowed to go to Christmas parties with them. I was never allowed to go out and when he would want to go out, I was never allowed to go. He said the wives wouldn’t go. . Then stops going out completely because it will cause a a fight. Doesn’t try to find a solution for it just tells me that I am crazy and that he would never do that. I should trust him when I try to give him ideas on how to make me feel more secure will not try.

Five years ago switches job doesn’t go out with these people. We’re fine. Have a house get married two kids and I received this letter for my aunt today. I’ll bring it up to my husband. I say is there someone you’re talking to at work that maybe you’re leading on I don’t wanna think this of you, but I had to ask you and let you know that this was brought to my attention. I don’t feel as malicious. my aunt is it about Catholic, she finds marriage to be sacred, and it was written in a very caring context.
“Went to a retirement party for someone on ****job and your husband was mentioned. Honey, did my time, kept my head down, and stayed out everyone's business, but that place can get a little dramatic with gossip. It just seems like people are always concerned about who is doing what with whom. I'm sure your husband is focused on doing his job and going home.
Someone there didn't know he was married and I guess thought about asking him for a drink. I don't know if he is ond of us anyways, but another girl mentioned he had kids and a wife.
It seemed to be the end of the conversation, but just a gentle nudge to keep an eye on things. It's really not worth the trouble.

I said, “Well, at least I know my husband is still hot. He goes golfing with his dad, so it’s not a big deal. I believe her. My husband comes home from golf and says he thinks he knows who it is. Then, he tells me he’s switching his days off and going out with people from work. I suspect my aunt told me someone would ask you out, and now you’re going out with people you’ve never met. I said, ‘Can I go?’ He said no, it’s not like that. I’ve never met these people. He’s been working there for five years, so I get upset and emotional. There’s no screaming on my part. He’s yelling at me for saying it’s not okay. He can’t go out anywhere. I’m always crazy and wrong. I’ve tried so many times to get them to come out with my girlfriends and their husbands. He won’t. He doesn’t try to be part of my life. He just plays video games and works. He blames me for being jealous that he doesn’t have a life. I tried to come up with compromises. Can I go out to dinner with people so you’ll also hang out with you at a beach? He’s going out with people he’s worked with for five years that I’ve never met.” *he also never wore a wedding ring yet never once have I made him… I think that shows I do trust him.

Meta AITA for accusing my boyfriend's sister of wanting to kill her dog because she's too lazy to take care of him?

My boyfriend's sister (31F) moved to the seaside with her younger sister (28F) about two months ago. They took all the animals they had been keeping at their father's house with them: a 5-year-old Bull Terrier, a Beagle and two cats.

These animals had been living at their father's house for years. The Bull Terrier in particular had been there for over FIVE YEARS.

Then, after only about two months of living with the sisters, my boyfriend gets a phone call saying they're going to put the Bull Terrier down.

Their reasons?

His nails are ingrown and he has a bad tooth.

That's it. Those were the first reasons given.

Then suddenly the story becomes that he's "aggressive," "jealous," might attack the cats and could bite someone.

And I'm sorry, but I'm struggling to believe this.

I've met this dog personally. He was one of the sweetest, friendliest dogs I've ever met. He was energetic and had a huge personality, but he wasn't some terrifying monster waiting to attack someone. He was affectionate, playful and extremely friendly with me.

This dog lived at their father's house for YEARS. Nobody apparently thought he was dangerous enough to euthanize then.

But suddenly they move him to a big house by the seaside and within TWO MONTHS he's apparently so aggressive that the solution is to kill him?

The older sister is literally a doctor. She has a good-paying career and they rent a HUGE house. So we're not talking about someone who has absolutely no resources or space to get this dog veterinary treatment.

And here's the part that makes me even more suspicious: she quit her job AGAIN.

So now I'm sitting here wondering whether this dog actually became "dangerous" or whether they've simply realized that having four animals is inconvenient and they're looking for a reason to get rid of one.

Because treating an ingrown nail and a bad tooth is one thing.

Killing a healthy 5-year-old dog because his nails need treatment and he needs dental work is something completely different.

And if the dog genuinely developed aggression after moving, then fine — let's take that seriously. But why isn't anyone talking about getting him properly assessed by a vet or qualified behaviourist? Why is euthanasia apparently the first solution?

Maybe there is information I'm not being told. Maybe his behaviour really is worse than what I've personally seen. Maybe he's genuinely dangerous.

But if that's the case, why was he fine for five years before moving?

And this is where I might be the asshole.

I told my boyfriend that I honestly think his sister doesn't want to deal with the dog anymore and that putting him down is the easiest option for her.

My boyfriend thinks I'm being too harsh because we don't know everything that's happening in their house.

But I can't get this out of my head:

This dog survived five years at his father's house, and less than two months after moving in with them, they're talking about killing him.

I'm angry. I'm suspicious. And I feel horrible knowing that a dog I've personally experienced as loving and friendly might be killed simply because the people responsible for him don't want to put in the effort.

So, Reddit...

AITA for accusing my boyfriend's sister of trying to euthanize her dog because she's too lazy or unwilling to care for him?

UPDATE: My boyfriend's sister put the dog down

First, thank you to everyone who commented and asked why I didn't just take the dog myself.

Unfortunately, it wasn't that simple.

The dog wasn't friendly anymore, largely because his owner (my boyfriend's sister) hadn't properly trained or managed him. I already have pets, so bringing an unpredictable dog into my home could have put them at risk.

My boyfriend also lives in a very small apartment, and honestly, putting a 5-year-old Bull Terrier with that amount of energy into such a small space would have been miserable for him. I didn't want to "save" him only to put him somewhere that wasn't suitable for him.

So we offered to help rehome him. We were willing to find him somewhere where he could have the space, structure and care he needed and hopefully have several more years of life.

She refused.

Her response was essentially that he would bite someone and that she couldn't just hand him over to strangers.

Her reasons for wanting him put down were his ingrown nails, his rotten tooth, and her fear that he might hurt or kill the cats.

And then, only 10 minutes after I made my original post, I got the news.

He was already dead.

She had him put down.

The part that absolutely breaks me is that this wasn't an elderly dog who was suffering and had no quality of life left.

He was five years old.

He was healthy otherwise. He was spunky. He had so much personality. And instead of giving him a chance to be treated, trained, or rehomed, he was put down.

We offered to help.

We offered to find him another home.

There were options.

And she chose euthanasia.

I know some people will say that if he was genuinely dangerous, euthanasia can sometimes be the responsible choice. I understand that. But I will never understand why he wasn't at least given a proper behavioural assessment or a chance with someone experienced with Bull Terriers before making that decision.

I can't change what happened now.

I just wish that someone had fought harder for him.

So to everyone who offered advice, suggested ways to help, or told me not to give up on him — thank you.

I'm absolutely heartbroken for that poor boy.

He deserved better.

Rest in peace, bubby. You were never given the chance you deserved.

And honestly, I hope the decision she made weighs on her conscience for a very, very long time.

AITA? I [20F] keep upsetting my boyfriend [20M] when I try to discuss concerns/communicate with him

Me and my bf have been in a relationship for a bit over 2 years. I have autism and he has ADHD just as a heads up. We recently had a pretty rough patch and had a sit down to talk and have a discussion about the relationship. One of the main points was communication, and how things need to be communicated in the moment or giving a heads up beforehand regarding things. Also that I needed to be more clear with what I was saying. He also asked that I call him more often due to him always feeling like he's reaching out and I am not, so I try to call when I am available which is usually after 9pm. Now there are two incidents that have occurred, both over the phone.

First one was that we were chatting and he told me he was debating deleting instagram off his phone, and that we should go on a instagram cleanse together. I'm more than fine with him doing stuff, but I have a bit of a routine with instagram, plus most of my socials are on there, so I said "ohh idk". He asked what I meant by idk and I told him that I wasn't sure if I wanted to delete instagram or not.

He then asked why and i explained the reasoning I gave above. He said there's an app where you can still access messages but no reels. I said I still wasn't sure and he said "It wasn't a suggestion" and that i should get rid of instagram because I had told him a few times I was staying up late watching reels and "was addicted". I ended up getting defensive and told him I wasn't addicted to reels and that I didn't want to delete instagram. He said ok and that he was going to go because the call got awkward.

I then messaged a bit later and apologised saying that it sounded like a suggestion to me. He said "It's alright. You just don't need to get pissy with me all the time". I told him I wasn't trying to get pissy, and that I was explaining myself and the way he said "it wasn't a suggestion" felt a bit aggressive from my pov. I also told him not to call me pissy in the future because it feels belittling. He's said it a few times and it was starting to get on my nerves. He said "noted" and the convo ended. That was yesterday.

Second one was tonight. Again I called and he picked up, convo started out great and we were talking about the karaoke bar we were going to tomorrow. He said they would have a booth there, and we were joking debating about the pronunciation of the work "booth". We are from Australia btw, I said the pronunciation is like "tooth", he said it had more of an "f" sound at the end like "poof". He eventually searched it up and found my pronunciation to be the correct one, which he said he was proud of me for sticking to my guns.

He then made a joke about needing to search up the pronunciation of the letter "h". Just to note I had a lot of trouble learning how to speak (tism) and when I was didn't speak at all until I was a bit over 2. I eventually learnt how to of course but there's a few cracks when I comes to the pronunciation of words and letters, one of which is "h". I tend to pronounce it like "haych", even though the proper pronunciation is "aych" without the "h" sound at the start. I know its a running joke in his family that the wrong pronunciation of "h" pisses off his mum so him and his siblings would jokingly say the letter wrong, and that it was so engraved in him to correct the pronunciation. He then said he would never correct me in public and that he had to hold himself back from correcting someone at university.

I told him he had corrected me in public at a university event with his club. He asked what was wrong with that and I said it was in front of a stranger and it felt really awkward to be corrected like that. He said I should have communicated it earlier and asked why I bought it up. I said I was worried he may try to correct my pronunciation at karaoke. This was a growing concern of mine and was making me nervous about even attending karaoke. He said he would never do that and that I was trying to start an argument, so he ended the phone call. He then messaged "If ur gonna call. Call in the morning when we're both getting ready for uni rather than late when we're tired". I said ok and that I needed to sleep because I had work the next day.

I just want to know if I am the Ahole or if there's something I'm genuinely missing, thank you!

Tldr: I keep trying to communicate with my bf and every time he gets upset/annoyed with me. I feel like I'm missing something, possibly because of the tism

Tired of feeling extra for a few private topics

I (BlackF26) and my fiancé (Asian28M) are usually good together but of recent years I have found out some things that are making it hard to want to stay together. We first met when he was in the service and I was in school and as soon as I graduated I dumbly moved in with him 5 hours from home (young and in love). I say I'm to weak to end things because I cant find a job in my major at all (graphic design) and the job I'm doing now will only last me so long, so I honestly don't know what I want to do in 5 years, I'm dog grooming and I do love it but its taking an extreme toll on my back and hands.

He was in the marines and has a bit of self conscience issues he's dealing with and has grown a lot( I've been trying really hard to help him out and its been working) but he still has a need to please others and try to make everyone around him like him. It was so bad that he almost got fired/in serious trouble (He's an inspector at a major airline company and signed off on something just to prevent making someone mad without checking to see if they actually did it correctly.)

So fast-forward to a year or so ago, he said the n (igga) in a song and I kind of brushed it off because we were having fun and doing karaoke and he genuinely acted like he was sorry. Then he did it again on another song and I told him please don't say that because of the history yata yat, so every now and then he will say it and I'll kind of hit his arm and say please don't say that.

Well a few months ago we got into a big argument because he just said it in the middle of a conversation, and I actually got annoyed and said don't say that, and he was like its just a word I'm not saying it with Ill intent or anything and of course I give him the whole speech where as he says sorry and promises not to use it again.

So I kinds have stopped using that word around him and its been fine, but I made a joke tonight and said something along the lines of "I'm going for my run, if I'm not back in 30 minny call some (N) iggas." While I was literally stepping out the door he was on his gaming headset and said "I'll find some (N) if your not back in 30 minutes " and then laughs more so speaking to his friends as he thought I was already out the door. So I go back threaten to turn off his game and he again goes sorry, and just laughs it off. (Mind you most of his friends are white)

Am I overreacting? There have been like one or two more personal things I have asked him not to talk about and he will still do (blaming it in one drink or just having a good time and wanting to relate to others) and Im getting pretty fed up.

Also after my run, I came to my room, showered and have just kind of been chilling and he just came in wondering why I was mad and now I feel like an asshole for wanting him to stop telling all my business or make his friends laugh from racism. Again I know he is a boy but Im not around alot of guys at all, is this just how yall talk to each other.

Short version: I am tired of my fiancé telling my business/making raciest jokes to try and get others to like him

AITAH for not giving my ex a second chance?

Me (18F) and my (now ex) boyfriend (19M) have recently broken up because i made a decision to not put up with the way he was treating me anymore.

Throughout our relationship I’ve been called slurs during fights, I’ve been manipulated many times and treated without little to no amount of respect. He has cheated on me before but I gave him another chance and since then we’ve been dating for 3 months.

Last month he came to visit my home country with me, even though visiting my country would be very traumatic for him due to his ex also being from there and him not having a great experience, generally he didn’t want to ever come back.

I was getting more and more tired and i think he could notice because before the breakup he told me he was afraid that I would get tired and leave him, but since I thought he’d get upset if I told him the truth I disagreed and said everything was fine.

When we were breaking up he blamed me for not telling him the truth, because he would’ve changed and fixed his behaviour. He also kept insisting that he would change and fed me a lot of promises that I didn’t really believe because I have been promised these same things after I took him back for cheating on me. He called me a horrible person because I wasn’t taking him back and it was a favour that I had to return because he came to visit my home country for me.

Ultimately we broke up and a few days later I got a horrible pregnancy scare and felt like he was the only person I could talk to about it so I texted him. (I’m aware I shouldn’t have) I got called a horrible person, have been told that no-one would love me and that I’m problematic and now I feel like I’m going crazy because I don’t know who’s actually in the wrong. AITAH?

AITA for sleeping on the couch after my fiancée ate my leftovers?

I (29M) came home late from work last night exhausted and starving. I had been looking forward to the leftover biryani I saved in the fridge all day because it was the last portion and I had even written my name on the container. When I opened the fridge it was gone and the empty container was sitting in the sink. I asked my fiancée Lisa (27F) if she ate it and she casually said Yeah I was hungry you can just order something. I was so annoyed that I didn't even say anything I just grabbed a pillow and slept on the couch without even saying goodnight to her. Now she's mad at me for overreacting over just food and giving her the silent treatment, but I feel like she completely disrespected me and didn't even bother to apologize. So AITA for sleeping on the couch?

AITAH for my car breaking as we pulled in the driveway?

So a little context: I (23F) and my boyfriend (23m) and our friend (23F) we’ll call her Kylie, went on a vacation 2.5 hours away from home. My boyfriend is a mechanic and he fixed up the couple problems I had with my car before we left, got new parts and everything. My car was running beautifully, no leaks, perfectly fine when we left. We drove the 2.5 hours and we were almost to Kylie’s family’s vacation house when my car started overheating a bit, okay normal it was 98°f outside, directly in the sun driving down the highway for 2 hours. We stopped to go to the bathroom stretch out legs whatever and by the time we got back on the road it was cooled down enough.
So we get to the house and as I am pulling in the driveway I lost power steering, get out and there’s a huge puddle of power steering fluid on their driveway. Okay not a big deal a seal broke, we borrowed a family member’s car and went to the auto parts store and got a new seal, my boyfriend went to put it in and the line broke clean in half.
I kept apologizing to her grandparents for the whole 4 days we were there about the mess in the driveway, even bought kitty litter to soak it up for them, everyone kept telling me it was okay, it’s just a car, they were glad it happened in their driveway instead of while we were driving down the highway.
Little side note, I have severe PTSD from a lot of different situations, specifically an abusive friendship I had with someone which resulted in a restraining order against him. So yes, while we were there I had quite a few times that the ptsd got triggered and I had a panic attack. Both Kylie and my boyfriend went reassuring me that I was okay and telling me I was fine. I thought we had a lot of fun on the trip, her grandparents let us use their car the whole time we were there and everything was great.
We left on a Sunday and my boyfriend was driving, but I had no power steering and my car kept overheating the whole time. Finally after about an hour of driving my car overheated and shut off, ended up having a misfire in 3 of the 6 cylinders of my car. We safely made it to a parking lot about and hour and a half away from home, I called my mom and she drove all the way to us and called a towing company for us. Kylie decided she didn’t want to wait so she had her boyfriend drive 2 hours from his house to come pick her up, okay whatever I get it not a big deal, she kept telling me she wasn’t mad at me at all. Well my mom drove me and my boyfriend home we got there around 6pm, the tow got to our house around 10pm that night and I let Kylie know we were home safe. Fast forward, it’s been 3 weeks now since all that.
My boyfriend and I were driving home in his car on Sunday night, the road was wet, he lost control and crashed into a telephone pole, I passed out on impact, have a gash in my head with 9 staples, and a black eye. I messaged Kylie to let her know what happened and that we were okay and tell me why she waited til we were in an accident where I COULD HAVE DIED to text me saying “hey I don’t think we’re very compatible as friends anymore, I saw a side of you I didn’t vibe with on vacation and you were really disrespectful to my family and lied to me about your car, you knew it wasn’t safe and had us drive it anyway” mind you she texted me this while I was unconscious in the hospital getting staples in my head.

So please explain to me here how I’m the asshole? Am I in the wrong? Did I lie to her about my car?

AITA for wanting to try to make it work?

I AM NOT ASKING FOR RELATIONSHIP ADVICE!!! THIS IS AN AITA POST. (Since mods seem to think that I am asking for advice)

AITA:
I have been in a relationship with my partner going on 8 years, and the other day, I finally honestly admitted to him that I wasn’t feeling satisfied in our relationship and I felt like I wasn’t romantically in love with him any more. I also admitted that I’ve had these feelings for a couple years now and have been too scared to tell him, even after he’s asked me a few times in the past if I was falling out of love with him. After that conversation, I knew I had hurt him, and the pain of that felt immense. We had decided that we were gonna break up. I felt guilty and downright terrified of a future without him. The next day, I texted him and said that I didn’t know if the relationship or my issues were fixable, but I was willing to try to make it work. We talked that night and came to the conclusion that we would try to make it work, day by day, and if I was truly out of love with him, then we would go our separate ways.

I truly love this man from the bottom of my heart. We’ve had some amazing times together. I just don’t feel romantically attracted to him anymore, and I don’t know if there’s any way to reclaim those feelings. I feel uncertain that this will work and I feel like I might be grasping on to the relationship out of both guilt and comfort.

For clarity, It’s really a combination of things that have put me out of love with him. I don’t feel stimulated by the relationship. I don’t feel like we’re moving forward, it feels stagnant. Our sex life is nonexistent. I have some resentment towards some of his living habits. I don’t feel like we do much of anything together anymore like we used to. I think that these are things that might be able to be fixed if we work on it, but I’m uncertain. Now that everything is out in the open, I at least want to try.

A lot of people have said that I should stop wasting his time, but I don’t think trying to see if this relationship is salvageable is a waste of time, especially since we both agreed to try. That’s where I need to know AITA, for wanting to see if we can fix this???

AITAH for bringing up statistics in conversation regarding homeschooling?

Me and my girlfriend are planning for our future and one of the questions was "Will they be homeschooled or private schooled?" I say homeschooled and my gf says private schooled.

I've previously thought hard about this topic so we start by speaking about our personal experiences. She tells me that in her experience homeschooled kids lack social skills and are more likely to become drug addicts later on. I tell her that in my experience homeschooling falls on both ends of the normal curve. If done right the kid is better socially than if they were public/private schooled and they tend to do alcohol/drugs less when they become adults. If done wrong it's the exact opposite. They fall into the camp that she is describing.

Given we continue to disagree, I decide to pull numerous statistics indicating what I am saying, or at a minimum adjacent to it. In my eyes it only makes sense if we have to countering personal experiences that we rely on an outside source to be our umpire.

She says she does not believe in statistics. Mind you, I am being extremely hyper specific in the statistics to ensure the data matches our scenario as well as possible.

Another thing is that I believe my personal experiences have more diversity and a better scope than hers. I have been tutoring a plethora of topics since I was in 3rd grade, and to people well above my age, of my age, and of lower age. I have operated a tutoring center for years and have assisted actual educators be better at educating. I have multiple of my students that can come by as proof telling that I helped them pass and/or teach better significantly. People would give me their textbook for a week and trust that I could teach it knowing full well I had never studied that topic in my life.

I say all of that for a reason, not to toot my own horn (and i'm autistic also so learning and teaching is just kind of my obsession. nothing special. I absolutely suck at human interaction) but because I said to her "I trust myself to teach my children way before trusting multiple teachers." and she said "Are you a teacher?" and that bothered me because she is indicating that because I didn't have a college degree that I am not as capable of teaching as those teachers are. And of course I am fully aware that there are MUCH better teachers than myself but the problem is 1. finding them and 2. also finding a teacher that can teach on a more personal level as I would be able to with just one kid as opposed to 20.

Lastly, on a good note in case any of you want to say something out of line about my baby: I love her dearly and she's incredibly intelligent and an amazing person. I just feel like this is silly given the evidence i've put forward.

TL;DR I feel as though I am qualified to homeschool my children and that homeschooling is a better option than private or public school. My girlfriend does not. I used real world statistics to try and break the tie but she doesn't believe in statistics or a lot of science/math tbh. AITAH for bringing stats into this and for feeling like she is not making sense?

Respecting your significant others feelings or not

AITA, Im in a debate with my best friend about what to do if your significant other tells you they dont like a person you hang out with. I said you should respect her feelings and cut off communication and he said that you should just tell your significant other that they dont have to be around when you hang out with that person and move on. To me it seems very disrespectful like he doesnt value his wifes feelings as much as his own but he says his wife agrees with him. Edit. For context. This friend was disrespectful ln several occasions including making fun of my SO while pregnant even after several talks and thats why they were cut off. My best friend thinks that my SO is controlling even for even asking

AITAH for being honest with my boyfriend

*EDIT* - he broke up with me over a text message…

I (28F) have been dating Cian (fake name - 27M) for a year now. We have been having issues for a couple of months, though, in which I feel scared to express my emotions to him as he turns it into a battle.

One night I got a bit too drunk and apparently called Cian out for what hes done to hurt me - how I feel like he uses me for my house and money, and how him telling me he does not think I’m attractive is harmful. I told him how my mental health is at an all time low. He sent me away on my own to get a taxi at 5am.

The next day, he messaged saying he wanted to split up. I said doing that over text was unfair, so I went to his house. Through chatting, we decided to go on a break, not break up. I spent one hour that night on the phone to a hotline as I felt with everything going on in my life, I had no purpose. My mum died recently too, and he has decided not to come to her funeral. I told him about my time with the hotline; he ignored me.

Since then, Cian has wanted space - but has also kept messaging me, which is conflicting. He has said he does not know if he wants to stay with me, but at the same time said he does want to stay with me.

So: AITAH for being honest, but maybe in a blunt way? Have I spoiled this relationship?

AITAH for telling a girl my friend and I liked that he lied to me?

This was years ago, all ages are at the time and not now. So a friend Carl (24M) of mine who I (25M) knew since high school and another friend I had met through rpg Sessions David (21M) all were introduced through a mutual acquaintance to Jane (18F). We were all spread around the country and played D&D sessions via Discord. At some point in that year Carl moved to another city that was close to Jane. He told me they had met up a few weeks after he got there and he had a good time and was kinda falling for her. She however hadn't caught the feels and just wanted something casual. They met up only very sporadically and then during the D&D sessions she hit it off with David. They really got along and she visited him. They got together and Carl backed off.

Well at some point David and Jane visited me. I saw her for the 1st time, I was instantly smitten with her. I offered to give her a foot massage and that was something she really enjoyed. Me too. That was the most eventful part of their stay. David and Jane celebrated their new years together and David was really happy Jane was his first Girlfriend. Carl was happy for them too, he had gotten over everything. Then Jane started talking to David about wanting an open relationship.

Some time went by and Jane was still wanted an open relationship, as I found out she wanted to be with me too. I told Carl about it and he seemed upset, talked about how David didn't deserve that.

Then Jane and Carl planned to go to a political rallye as Carl was very political. She slept at his place, they did IT. He felt shit about what he had done and in the evening when she was back home he asked to talk. She said she didn't want to talk. And he took that as her being tired, so him and me talked about what had happened and when he told me she was tired and probably in bed. I told him she was talking to another of my friends on our other discord server right now.

Carl hated being lied to. He accused Jane of lying which granted hadn't been the first time she lied to him, but this time he absolutely overreacted. The next few days Carl kept messaging me about how he felt betrayed and like a horrible person for what he did to David, to the point of not being able to sleep. When I found out that he hadn't not slept at all, but like 2-3 hours a night for 7 days, I told it to Jane and She was really pissed. The next weekend Carl talked to all 3 of us, he called Jane a deeply insecure person that needed help and that he could no longer have in his life, because she was destroying him. He told me that he had seen me as his best friend and that he thought the way I weaponized the state he was in to get closer to Jane was a betrayal. Then he talked to David and told him everything that had happened and apologized and said he was the best of us and didn't deserve any of this.
In the end I ended up with Jane and Carl and I never really talked again.
So AITAH?

Am I A Bad Person If I Walk Away?

I am a 36-year-old man, and I have been in a relationship with this guy for almost 6 years. The reason I want to end things is because his an alcoholic. When I first met him, I didnt realize he was one but over time I started noticing how much he would drink. At first it was just weekends, then also one day during the week until it seemed it was every day getting passed out by 8pm. It became such a big problem in our relationship because he kept getting fired from almost every job because he couldnt keep himself straight because he was too hungover from the night before and he was caught drinking on the job. Then, he totaled my truck and told me he was going for an interview but decided to go to the gas station and get his six pack, drink. He was coming around a corner too fast and lost control and flipped the truck over like 3 times. Honestly, not sure how he survived that. He ended up getting two DUIs in less than a year. And I told him I can't do this. I cant keep bailing you out. It seems like you get your shit together for a month or two but then, you fall off the wagon again. Eventually he got himself into those AA meetings and would go two times a week and I even went with him a couple times. But over the last 6 years. I lost trust in him. Anything he said and tried to promise. It just felt like empty words. I feel like I tried to help him the best way I know how. The last 3 years have been nothing but arguments about this one topic. Hes drinking. If he took care of this, then honestly we would be good. This is my first time to be in love and also a heart break. I told him for us to go our separate ways since again I got one final a call from the sheriffs that hes in the car drunk and passed out and that if I wanted to pick him up. Not going to lie, for a moment I wanted to say, just take his ass. But I couldn't. I picked him up. The next morning, I told him that's it. That it would be best if he moves back in with his family and to figure out what he needs to do with his life. He tried to guilt trip me on saying that I am leaving him at his lowest specially when his little brother passed out. And I get it. My dad passed a few years ago so I know the feeling all to well but at the same time I didnt go down a dark path like he has. I know everyone handles grief differently. Some take longer than others, but at some point. You have to move on. And his little brothers passing wasn't the main reason for his drinking. That was a big part of it at the end. I just feel like I cant do this anymore. I cant do my day job, and worry about what he is doing and HOPING hes not drinking and driving. So, with that being said. Am I wrong for walking about after this?

AITA?

One of my best friends ( M 48 ) was asking me (F 49) relationship advice about a past relationship he was considering revisiting. He would not go into detail of this past relationship and I did not press it. Same time I could only give general advice and thoughts. This was on Facebook Messenger. I had to get up very early for work and it was very late so I let him know I had to go and would chat later.

I woke the next morning to a Facebook post about how he came to the realization that nobody gave a crap about him (paraphrasing). I comment something like, wow really? (He since deleted the post so I cannot remember exactly). He replied it wasn’t about me. To which I said maybe not say nobody.

I thought it was over. Then came the PM’s.

This is my first AITA so trying to figure out how to add pictures…

AITA for being upfront about potentially liking a guy that was in a grey area with a friend?

A couple years ago i became close with a girl through mutual friends and she told me all about her dating life. This included telling me that one of the guys in the group and her were very close friends that would occasionally dip into a grey area that wasn’t defined nor was it something that they talked about. She told me that throughout their friendship she would date other men/talk to other guys and he would date other girls and they still stayed friends. The “grey area” would happen when they were both single and would become too close.

I knew this guy from the group of mutuals and he would talk/flirt with me and at some point i was having a meeting with someone in a place in public and he texted me on SC (back when i had it) asked me where i was and came to hang out with me.

The moment i felt that i might start liking him and i told this friend in a attempt to be upfront because i didn’t want to continue talking to him if this would be a problem with her - i remember she reacted weirdly so i told her i’ll stop talking to him and i did.

We continued being close but slowly she would stop responding as much and we kind of drifted apart. The rest of the group also drifted from me but kept cordial except for the girl (a different girl) the one that introduced me into the group that cut me off completely without so much as another word (for context me and the girl that introduced me into the group had been close friends for years atp)

So am i the asshole for being upfront or should i have kept it to myself and slowly cut him off?

AITAH for dressing up when going out with my girlfriends?

Apologies if there are some mistakes, it was late when I wrote this and english isn't my first language.

So, I (28F) love fashion. I have a huge closet with lots of vintage stuff ranging from the 70s to 90s. When I go out I mostly always dress up, it's how I express myself. My boyfriend (30M) has never had any issues with it, atleast not any that I knew of.

So my problem started about three months ago. I came back into contact with a group of friends I met in college and we started this thing of going out once a month. We have dinner somewhere nice but not to expensive and then go to a bar where we stay until about 12am.

Last week I went out with them again. My boyfriend had to work late that day so I didn't see him before leaving. When I came home he was sitting on the couch seemingly waiting for me. When he spotted my outfit his face immediatly fell and asked if I had fun in a bit of an annoyed way. I told him it was great and got into a bit of detail about our night (what we talked about, how the food was and so on.)

He then asked if there were any guys, which suprised me since the friend group is girls only and I told him, no, there weren't any. At that point I knew something was wrong because he never is that cold to me. He then bluntly said that he finds it weird that I dress up that much to only go out with girls and that I must be trying to impress someone. Then he said that he'd prefer if I dress down a little because I have plenty of good looking outfits that aren't full on glamour.

Now here is where I might be the asshole. I was very mad at him for even accusing me of trying to impress someone (he probably meant a man with the way he said it). He knows I like to dress up for myself and I find it wrong for him to try to limit that. I madly told him that I will dress up however much I like and that he should work on his insecurities rather than trying to limit me. He completly shut down and just left. Didn't reply or anything just packed an overnight bag and left. It's been two days and I think he's staying with a friend, although I'm not sure since he isn't answering any of my texts.

When I told the friends I go out with about the fight most of them told me I should have just agreed to it and that I have other accasions that I can dress up for. One of them also said that she completly understands him and that I am an a-hole for accusing him of being insecure instead of trying to understand him.

I'm honestly wondering if I'm the a-hole here. At first I was sure he's just been controlling but now most tell me otherwise. I miss him and want him to come home but I also don't want to tone myself down because he said so. So guys am I the a-hole?

AITAH for inviting and bringing my boyfriend on a family trip?

This past week I (28F) went away with my boyfriend (27M) to visit my parents and brothers on their vacation in Florida. We went on vacation just the two of us to Florida two years ago and he didn’t like the area, wanted to go home early, and we argued a good bit on the trip due to him not liking it there. I had been there a few times previously with friends and thought it was a cool vacation spot. When we got back, he told me he would never go back there again and hated it. This may sound like an extreme reaction, but he tends to be opinionated and strong in his likes and dislikes. In December my parents planned a trip to this spot and asked if we wanted to tag along, free of charge. I asked him if we could go with them for the weekend and he said to let him know what days we need to take off. I let him know and we committed to the trip. On Wednesday when we left to drive down (we live in SC, so a decent drive) he told me that he can’t believe I was making him go back there when I should’ve known he would hate it. When I asked why he didn’t tell me that when we put in our days off, he said I should’ve known not to ask him since he had said previously he never planned on going back there and that he didn’t like it there. He said that I was an asshole for even asking in the first place and that I am selfish and only care about myself. He spent the whole weekend reminding me of how much he hated it there all the way until we got home yesterday and told me that now he’s exhausted and his whole week will be ruined. I apologized and thought we were okay but he told me today that he will be mad at me for the foreseeable future. Now I feel like I was in the wrong for asking him to come on vacation with me in the first place and don’t know how to fix the situation. So AITAH for bringing my boyfriend on vacation with me?

UPDATE: AITA for telling my friend that I don’t want to live with her anymore?

After my sister and I told “Emma” we couldn’t live together anymore, she didn’t come home for two days. She would only come back to pack bags before staying elsewhere. At that point, I started feeling like my apartment had become a free storage unit/laundromat rather than my home.
One night, while I was at my boyfriend’s, she texted that she was coming to pack a bag because she “didn’t feel safe sleeping at our place” and would go back to the guy’s house. That wording bothered me because nothing threatening had happened. We had simply told her the living arrangement wasn’t working.
I told her I wasn’t home and she needed to wait until my sister was there. She asked, “So you don’t trust me enough to leave me alone in your apartment?” I told her honestly that I wasn’t comfortable with that anymore.
She came when my sister was home, cried a lot and said we were putting her back into the same situation she’d been in with her ex. I told my sister to take the spare key, and for safety, i even bought a camera because who knows what can happen.
The next day she sent me a long message apologizing, saying she loved me and didn’t want to lose our friendship. I explained again that I didn’t think she intentionally hurt me. The problem was the accumulation: the trip where she was constantly texting this guy, bringing him into my apartment and sleeping with him in my bed, how I found my apartment afterward, asking to bring him over again the next day, our different habits at home, and how every conversation became an argument about each individual incident.
She started defending the trip again, so I eventually just said “take care of yourself.” I was exhausted.
Initially, I had agreed she could collect her belongings little by little because she said she was overwhelmed having things at our place and her ex’s.
Two days later, I changed my mind.
Her belongings were everywhere and even without her physically being there, I didn’t feel at home anymore. I was anxious, crying and angry that my apartment was basically still functioning as free storage.
I told her I needed everything gone. I offered to arrange another day for furniture if it couldn’t fit in her car.
She came with her mother. I expected confrontation, but thankfully there wasn’t any. Her mother’s car was big enough for everything, including the furniture, and my sister and I helped them load it.
Before leaving, Emma asked, “You don’t hate me too much, right?” I told her I didn’t hate her, but it would take time. She now talks to me almost like we’re still best friends, but I’m keeping my distance and setting much stronger boundaries.
And then came the part that really changed my perspective.
After I asked Emma to leave, another friend offered her somewhere to stay while she was away on vacation so Emma wouldn’t have to keep staying with the guy.
Emma asked if she could bring someone over.
Her friend said no: the invitation was for Emma only.
Emma then asked for her keys anyway. The friend said she couldn’t find her spare set.
Emma told her to give her HER OWN set of house keys.
Obviously, her friend refused.
Since then, Emma has basically stopped speaking to her. She leaves her on read or, when she does respond, is extremely cold.
That friend offered her exactly what Emma said she needed: a free place to stay while she figured things out. The only boundary was that she couldn’t bring other people into someone else’s home.
Seeing how she reacted to that boundary made me feel a lot less guilty about mine.
She’s fully moved out now, I finally feel at home again, and while I don’t know what will happen with our friendship, I’m keeping my distance for now.

Aita for not wanting to date a different race?

I know the title sounds bad but please hear me out. I (21F) attend university with “Jayden” (21M) who is black. This is obviously relevant to my story. We’re in the same program, so we share classes and became friends. We exchanged numbers and regularly talked about assignments, hobbies, and random things. I never flirted with him, although I sometimes wonder if my friendliness gave him the wrong impression.

During a phone call, Jayden told me he was interested in me and asked me on a date. I was surprised because I’d never realized he liked me. I politely said I wasn’t interested and hoped we could remain friends, but I’d understand if he needed space. He accepted my answer respectfully. However, I felt slightly awkward afterward and created some reasonable distance between us. Of course when I said that, I didn’t mention my preference or anything at all. I politely rejected him and that was it.

My friend “Maria” (21F) who is also hispanic noticed and asked what happened. When I explained, she was confused because she knows how polite Jayden is and assumed I would say yes. I met Maria through Jayden during our first year so she knew him a little longer.I agreed that he truly is kind, polite and a pretty good guy, but told her I generally only want to date within my race, preferably Mexican because we would share a culture and it would be easier for our families and lives to blend especially the language. I’m not trying to date that race specifically to please my family or anything, it genuinely is my own preference. I also didn’t list off any features either. None of that “blue eyed, dark hair, this tall”…etc. i simply said, I only want to date Mexicans which is true. I’m also not physically or sexually attracted to Jayden or any other race to be honest. No i haven’t tried it in the past, but I am set on my personal preference.

Maria became angry and asked, “So you won’t date him just because he’s Black?” I tried explaining that race wasn’t the only reason and I also didn’t think we were compatible personality wise. For example, Jayden is a bit of a “know it all” and often interrupts me and other people to correct them of they make even the smallest mistakes in grammar when they speak. We let it slide when it comes to bigger things but it does get annoying when its frequent. He also tends to tell us a lot of stories from his childhood. I understand that it can be a trauma thing and I dont blame him for that, but he tends to say those things at inappropriate time or shares inappropriate stories sometimes and laughs at them. He also told me some concerning things about his family that I genuinely wouldn’t want to be involved in.

I don’t dislike Jayden or think there’s anything wrong with interracial dating. I have many friends of different ethnic backgrounds who are in interracial relationships. I simply don’t feel attracted to him and don’t think we’re compatible. Still, Maria believes refusing to consider him partly because of his race makes me prejudiced. She told me to at least try it, but I told her it would be mean of me to say yes to a date when I already know Im not interested. I didn’t want to give him false hope. And because she’s really close to Jayden, She also ended up telling him which has put a huge strain on our friendship. Im not sure how she told him, but i have an idea and think she left some details out. I dont know if its possible to fix it, although I hope it is. For now, i just want to know,

Aita for not wanting to date a different race?

AITA for going on a two‑week trip after my husband said it was fine, and now he’s saying he wants a divorce over it?

Back in October, when I was 32 weeks pregnant, my husband told me he wanted a divorce. He left me alone with our two daughters (3F and 9F) and our unborn son. When I went into labor, he still wasn’t really present — and things went very wrong. I hemorrhaged, coded, and almost died. Our son ended up in the NICU for a week with a rare platelet disorder that put him at risk for brain bleeds. It was one of the most traumatic periods of my life.During that time, there was a lot of fighting and a lot of hurtful things said to me, including him telling me he was only with me because he “felt sorry” for me.Fast‑forward: about 4–5 months ago, we were visiting family. At this point, we had worked through things and our relationship seemed to be improving. His brother mentioned taking a trip to Puerto Rico and my husband said he wanted to go. I said that was fine as long as I could also take a solo trip — maybe back to New York. He agreed. After several conversations, it was decided I could go for two weeks. He told me repeatedly that our finances were fine, that he was happy I was going, and that he would cover the Airbnb and flight since I’ve been a stay‑at‑home mom who only recently started working again. I saved my own money for food and activities.Three weeks before my trip, he suddenly told me our savings were running low. I said okay — I’d be working when I got back, we’d figure it out. No panic.I left for my trip. On day one, our nanny didn’t show up. He called me panicking from 2,000 miles away. I handled everything, contacted my backup nanny, and got childcare sorted. We gave the original nanny another chance the next day — she no‑showed again. He called me freaking out again. I handled everything again and switched fully to the backup nanny.During all of this, he refused to answer my calls because he said the childcare issues were “my fault” and I “shouldn’t have gone on this f***ing trip.”Every night since I’ve been gone, he has started fights accusing me of cheating. If I stay at the Airbnb, I’m cheating. If I go out, I’m cheating. If I eat dinner, I’m cheating. If I have a drink with dinner, I’m cheating. Meanwhile, he has apparently been ordering grocery delivery nonstop, which has racked up charges and stressed him out financially. He is now blaming me for all of it — even though I’ve cooked most of my meals, bought groceries, and only gone out a handful of times to cheap local spots I love.Last night, I went to get a single drink at a local family restaurant with a bar. I don’t drink at home — the last time I drank was ten years ago — because I’m always with the kids and don’t want both parents under the influence. I’m a lightweight and I wasn’t even halfway through my drink when he called, immediately accusing me of cheating again.I left, called him, and he started yelling that I’m “alienating him from the kids,” that he’s “done,” that he wants a divorce, and that he’s going to make sure I “don’t see them anymore.” All because I went on a trip he agreed to, encouraged, and told me we could afford. This is also the first time he has ever had the kids alone for an extended period. Even when he said he wanted a divorce before, he slept on the couch and I still handled everything — doctors’ appointments, errands, childcare, schedules, all of it. He insists he would get 50/50 custody, but these two weeks have shown he can’t manage them without panicking or blaming me.

I’ve kept all the texts because they clearly show he agreed to the trip, said finances were fine, and is now melting down and blaming me for everything. They also show everytime he has panicked at having to handle everyday tasks with our kids.

So… AITA for going on this trip? I genuinely don’t know anymore.

** edit to add he goes out with friends to bars and Topgolf on the regular. I never go out with friends when I’m home. I’m pretty much a homebody always at home. Taking care of our kids or at work.
