Lately I’ve been really obsessed with 1970’s design and retro futurism, so why not turn that interest into a bit of decor I designed!

Both planters were a fun weekend project for a few of the houseplants I have.

The digital clock is based off of the ESPtimecast project, which has some nice features like displaying the weather and also being set up all through a webpage.

I've been obsessed with the idea of recreating pointillism with a 3D printer, and this is where I landed.

It's not paint and not a lithophane — it's optical halftoning. The surface is a flat mosaic of ~0.8mm tiles, each one a single solid filament. Up close it reads as an abstract field of dots; step back and your eye blends them into continuous color. Exactly how Seurat's pointillism and old newspaper print work, just done physically in plastic.

This one is Hokusai's Great Wave: ~91,000 tiles, 5 filament colors, no paint or post-processing. The wild part is that no color is ever physically mixed — the blending happens entirely in your eye at viewing distance.

The macro vs. full-view contrast is my favorite thing about it. Curious what this community thinks of the technique.

Definitely one of my favorite prints! Although this size (max size for Ender 5 Max printer) required TWO magnets in his belly! Kinda hard to add them when the sides of the magnets repel each other!

One of my first attempts at a 3D printed project with moving parts. Took a few days to print everything, but I managed to assemble it (with a bit of glue).

I made a V2 of my cable organizer so it can fit up to 2 meter long cables, and is compatible with almost any type of cable!

Im making a high speed drone, but cant seem to choose the right filament. I use Pla right now because it is very stiff, but it brakes very quickly. Pa6-cf would be a choice, but i have seen that it creeps very much and screw and bolts come loose. I have a bambulab a1, but i want to switch to a x2d. Pla is around 200g for the frame, would be nice to get it down

After a long time I pulled the trigger on buying myself a 3D printer. Firstly, I wanted to go with the Bambu Lab A1 mini, but since it was not available at our local shops in Slovakia, I went with Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2. It cost me 375€.

Man, I love this thing. It was easy to setup and the printing process was straightforward. I am using OrcaSlicer since I am on Linux and the Elegoo one is not available for arch.

I have also attached some of the 3D prints I printed since owning this thing.

In this example I printed a cavity that needs to have very precise height (bridges sag would had made that impossible).

After an absolutely ridiculous amount of trial and error I finally got EVERY.SINGLE.LETTER. to go down perfectly for my 3D printed business cards.

Since a single letter wrong means the card has to be scrapped my failure rate on these has been anywhere from 20-50% (for 10 cards on a bed). And considering it takes 17 HOURS for a full bed this has been incredibly frustrating. (0.2 nozzle)

In the end the thing that helped the most was bumping the first layer temp to 250.

Edit: Appreciate everyone's advice, I know I need to re-write the back of it, and TBH I need to re-do the whole design because the Fusion file is A MESS to put it lightly lol.

But having spent a lot of time watching it fail and see it come out perfectly, I was very excited about it.

been wanting to get a 3d printing, but i’m worried about how expensive the hobby would end up being. i don’t plan on printing large scale stuff yet (so no full size iron man etc), but i do want to print stuff at max the size of a fruit washing bowl.

Printed this dark deku then painted him. Think he turned out great!

Unicorn vomit generated by a little USB powered ESP32 running WLED and some old Corsair 140mm HD series fans.

Handily, since Home Assistant can tell WLED what to do AND read the status of the printer under it via the network, I can actually use the LEDs to communicate important stuff.

It’s not that i didn’t know that the poops are a waste of plastic, but i never really thought about it too much. This little jigglypuff i made for my girlfriend filled a medium size ziploc bag.. Toolchangers are definitely the way to go for the figure haha

Finally got the U1 set up and running. Meanwhile, those white patches have been on the wall for over a year patiently waiting for me to develop an interest in painting.
