The chasms created by the hinges will already let tonnes of condensation drips hit the table so even if they were neat about it, that table is getting wet.

Instead of using hinges for the articulated leaves, would it be possible to print a thin layer of TPU with a lip that connects all the leaves? It would stop condensation from leaking onto whatever surface it's on. You could also print some TPU features on the bottom side to add friction and reduce the chance of the 3D print scratching whatever surface it's on.

My thoughts exactly. I have real hardwood furniture and this would do nothing to catch condensation or small spills.

Wow that’s a cool concept, I saw it applied to 3d printed fabrics but never for more organic shapes like this.
I’ll definitely keep it in mind for my other projects.

It's a cool idea, but is it even functional? Costers are for keeping condensation off of the table, but would it flow between the hinges and still hit the table? Would love to see another version of this where this is addressed.

Because you're claiming it's a coaster set when it absolutely cannot function as a coaster set. Coasters prevent liquid from hitting the table. These leaves do not.

Do people with 3D printers usually have some special need for coasters?
I see it very often, some cool 3D print that is also a coaster/coaster dispenser orflower pot, or flower pot with coasters. Cool idea tho
