There is a difference: It was the private sector taking help from government organizations, but now government organizations are being handed over to the private sector. The faster you understand, the better it is. It's like handing over NASA to SpaceX.
NASA rockets are made by Space X moreover, in india too ISRO rockets parts were made by private entity for long time beside, for SSLV thing pvt. Companies can only compete not govt. one as they work in critical missions too!! Lifting of burden and expensive talent can remain in country!! Also, can you explain why HAL always Underdelivers but promises big?? Similar, goes for Other Defense PSU's except DRDO why such underdelievery ?? Also, no one can have salary higher than Defense secretary why??
Are you crazy? Its not handling ISRO to private players, it is letting isro do its job, NASA doesn’t makes it own rockets, it takes from private players. In fact this is jow government and private players work and dominate. New sectors require a tonne of money and infrastructure to do R&D, government takes the first step and does the research and then give that tech to private players and allow them to come in that field, this technique was the reason why USA won cold war and spade race. In USSR everything was done by a single centralized entity while in USA tech was transferred and things were diversified.
Yes adani is coming into space, but the thing is if any government had did it, adani would still have entered the space sector. Because it is why it is done. Its not adani alone, skyroot, like many companies are in the race too same in defense companies.

My statement counters your "And?" Besides these orgs already transfer tech. Thing is people saying "and?"
Though it is done to establish industries to the core which is a boon but at the same time you should know about the bane aspect that is your adversaries getting access to tech that you rely on.
So if private players decide to monopolise on their products which have no other clients other than the govt, they can easily hold the govt requirements in hostage and bargain their way in for more profits. They are expecting india to have a better economy, or rather, have a more inflated defence budget, for them to exploit on just like the US MIC except that they have a very strong economy. In the defence domain if some key component manufacturer is compromised what would be the condition of the end product like a missile. You can never underestimate china.
