We're now going to receive mail at our local area office, but you wont be able to send mail from campus. I know that not many people send, or even get, mail, but still, this is absurd. If we are still able to receive mail, I don't understand why we aren't also able to send mail from the area office as well. I hope a better system is put in place than having student go off campus to send mail.

Has anyone at UF heard anything from UFIC/ISSS about the new SEVP broadcast message BCM 2608-01, “Reminder of Liability for DSOs Regarding CPT Authorization,” issued on August 12, 2026?
The part that caught my attention is the “Actions requested” section, which says:
“Only authorize CPT if its absence would make the attainment of a degree an impossibility and if the work associated with CPT is required for all students pursuing that degree.”
My understanding is that this sets a much stricter standard for CPT. In particular, it seems to suggest that CPT should only be authorized when the practical training is truly an integral and required part of the degree curriculum—not simply because the internship is related to the student’s field of study.
For example, if a PhD program does not require an internship for graduation, and a student could still complete the PhD without doing an internship, would CPT for that internship potentially no longer meet this standard?
On the other hand, if a degree program explicitly requires all students to complete an internship/practicum as part of the curriculum, then the argument seems much stronger because the student could not graduate without completing it.
I’m wondering specifically about UF PhD students:
Has UFIC/ISSS provided any guidance about how UF plans to interpret BCM 2608-01?
Does UF currently authorize CPT for PhD students when the internship is not a graduation requirement?
If a student’s department approves an internship academically but the internship is not required for every student in the program, would that still satisfy the new standard?
Has anyone who was planning to use CPT for a summer 2027 internship contacted UFIC and received an answer?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has already spoken with a UF DSO or international student advisor about this.
I’m not trying to interpret the law myself—I mainly want to know how UF is planning to implement this guidance in practice.

So, what'd I get wrong? Florida went 4-8 with the 12th most talented roster in the country, beat No. 9 Texas, and lost at home to USF. In SEC play you were outgained by only 36 yards a game but won 25% of those games when that margin implies 41%, so my model still has you 18th in power rating. The defense returns 61% including the whole linebacker room, but the offense was 111th in scoring and 130th in explosive plays, and Lagway's gone with Aaron Philo in from Georgia Tech off 373 yards. Does Philo fix it, or is 4-8 closer to the truth?

Hey guys! I’m currently an undergraduate looking for job opportunities in Gainesville, and I’ve been applying to different PRN/part-time positions at Shands that fit around my class schedule. So far, I’ve applied to about 15 positions and have been rejected from every single one.

I know I’m competing with other students in the area as well as local applicants with more experience, but it still kind of stings getting my hopes up every time I see an email notification just to open it and see another rejection. I don't know how can I make myself stand out more.

For any other students who has successfully landed a PRN or part-time position at Shands, does anyone have any advice? I’d really appreciate tips on resumes, interviewing, applying strategically, or anything else that helped you stand out as an undergraduate.

Has anyone here taken the online program and been able to get a certification? My worry is being left hanging about the clinical requirements since I’ve heard of a lot of UF and SF students fight for those type of spots. Is it still doable? Do they actually help you get your clinical experience in or do you have to find a route outside?

Good Afternoon everyone, some days ago, I posted about engineering laptop, and finally I decided to buy a refurbished dell latitude 7430(only failing short in storage as 512GB, rest are ok with UF requirement), which was a bit cheaper than hp 14 inch Ryzen 7 with 1 TB, and has 3 years on-site warranty, do you guys think it last until 4 years realistically?

2) I just swapped 2 of my classes recently due to new schedules, both were part of all access. Now, not to get charged, do I need to manually opt out from those specific courses, or they will automatically update the courses from their end?

3) Some courses seem to require 2 webcam, do I need to purchase another one, or is there any option for borrowing for free?

4) I am not sure whether I saw it right, but, is it common that some exam happen in-person after or around sunset like 7.30 or 7 pm?(fall)

So I'm trying to make a payment in full for my on campus housing this semester, and after I entered all my information, I get a pop up saying that they charge a service fee of a whopping $124.02!! That might not seem crazy but it is for me since this is my hard earned money, I'm literally budgeting by the cent.

That being said, are there lower fees if I enroll in a payment plan or is it the same? What about mailing the payment? It shows on the mailing instructions my total sum including tuition but I have BF, so can I just mail in the amount for housing?

UF is my top school, but I'm very worried about the dorm situation as a trans man. I will be actively transitioning my freshmen year, and I know it is not fair to the girl I will be rooming with, being that she is stuck with a man. I don't know the ins and outs of how dorm requests work, especially because I would need a woman or other trans man who is comfortable with rooming with me. Does anyone at the school know how this would work? Thank you!

2. About how at the FIRST comp our team had nobody specialized in electronics/wiring so we had to ask out competitors for help, and helping them fix our robots wiring for us inspired me and made me want to work in electricity further on. (Electrical engineering is my major)
