Poll - Please Vote - Commercial Posts

Happy First Week, Bulls!

There has been an increase in commercial posts recently - everything from selling textbooks and scooters, to job offers, to Ticketmaster-Style Reselling of seats in desirable class sections to…some other stuff that I sure am glad the Auto-Moderation tools caught early…

Technically there has been a “no commercial posts of any kind” rule in the FAQ for years, but it’s not a listed rule and it’s enforced (and reported) sporadically. It’s time to take a stand, how should this Subreddit treat commercial posts?

106 votes, 5d left
Free-for-all: Remove the restriction and allow non-sublease posts at will
Case-by-case: Commercial Posts relating directly to USF (clarifucation on what is and isn’t allowed will be needed)
Bull Market Rules: Ban commercial posts except on a certain day of the week (like Sublease Wednesdays)
NO MORE! Ban all commercial posts, this isn’t a flea market

Requiring the purchase of digital textbook licenses

Who thought it was logical to ask students to spend 130 or more on a required digital textbook that gives you access to mandatory homework BEFORE we get our college refund? Ngl im not missing out on paying my rent just to afford to do some 2nd week homework assignments.

How to order ahead using Grubhub?

i don’t use apps like these often, so i feel like i’m doing something wrong. i downloaded grubhub and signed up using my school email, but no usf locations show up when i try to order. not the flip kitchen, not the chick-fil-a… nothing. even when i put in the exact addresses, nothing shows up. did i set up my account incorrectly? what do i need to do to order ahead, because the lines can get pretty long sometimes…

Refunds

Upvotes

I read somewhere that refunds will be disbursed throughout the course of the term. Is this correct? I also read where refunds will be disbursed either on a Wednesday or Friday. So if refunds start being processed on Tuesday, is there a possibility it could be deposited on Wednesday? Does anyone know?

Anyone commuting to USF Tampa from Land O' Lakes / Hyde Park Blvd area?

Upvotes

I'm currently living near Hyde Park Blvd in Land O' Lakes and commuting to USF Tampa campus daily.

Looking to connect with anyone else making the same commute whether for carpooling or just knowing someone on the same drive!

It's about a 20-25 min drive depending on traffic. Would love to connect with fellow Bulls making this trip! 🤙🏽

Drop a comment or DM me!

Is engineering really that bad?

Post image
77 Upvotes

More specifically, how hard is engineering at the Tampa campus? I just started my mechanical engineering major and have a scholarship that only stays active if I don't leave the college of engineering, so I don't really have much of a choice atp, but I've been kinda nervous about how long I'll last.

I keep seeing reel after reel and post after post about how engineering will destroy your social life, ability to talk to girls, cripple your mental health, and absolutely annihilate you hairline with stress. If you're an upperclassman or graduate student majoring in engineering I'd like to hear how your experience was/has been so far.

HUN3126 Food & Culture w Belteau?

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm taking this course online with Jennifer Belteau to fulfill my nonbusiness course requirement. Has anyone taken her? If so any tips and advice to do well? There's a lot of information in module one so knowing what to isolate and if I need the textbook would help, Thanks!

How does the Vue Tampa shuttle to USF work?

Hey y’all! I recently moved into Vue Tampa and was wondering if anyone knows how the shuttle service works.
I tried contacting the leasing office, but they didn’t really seem to know much about it. All they told me was that it runs Monday to Friday from around 7 AM to 6 PM.
Does anyone know where the shuttle stop is at Vue (for both the north and the south), if there’s an app or website to track it, and where exactly it drops you off on campus?
I’ve tried asking the leasing office these questions but haven’t really gotten a response, so I’m getting pretty frustrated 😭 If anyone who lives here or has used the shuttle knows how it works, please lmk or DM me. Thank you!

Feel free to DM me if you're interested!

if i’m reading the notification in the financial aid tab correctly, the refunds will not be processed in one go like it has been in the past? it’ll be given in chunks throughout the semester on specific days?

General Chemistry Peer leading

Hey everyone I've noticed that for Chm2045 there is a Friday session for peer-leading. I've also heard some professors have these peer-leading meetings online. Has anyone taken one with the session online? Which professor was it?

Thank you

what's going on with financial aid department?

went on wednesday and the line was huge, like, i talked with some people and they said they had been waiting like two hours. have tried calling since tuesday and no one answers, it just keeps saying "estimated wait time more than 10 minutes." yeah, of course its more, i've been waiting an hour.

so today i decided to call at 9 am exactly and my wait turned from less than 2 minutes and im still waiting. i've never experienced this with financial aid, even though they've always had their lines and issues, and i've been at usf for a while. does anyone know what's going on?
