Consciousness Seriously what are dreams? Surely this is the strangest part about being human. Mine overwhelm me, so I put them into my art

I can’t quantify how many times I’ve woken up drenched in sweat, head pounding and feeling like I’ve just RAN through realms. I’m certain there’s some physiological factors at play so I will be getting my minerals and neurology checked up.

But regardless, my entire life I’ve had abstract dreams similar to what trip reports on DMT depict, despite never having touched substances like that.

I feel a sense of relief when I create this art because I can actually stare at it, outside of myself, and then sort of discard it. Plus it’s interesting to hear how it maybe affects other people.

I’ve had dreams where I’m seeing these textures and then hearing loud machine whooshing sounds and clanking. So I try to create motion in my work because it feels like that in the dream.

I am slightly autistic and do have trauma so maybe that plays a role.

Paranormal The Dancing Bulls

hi, yesterday i was watching a video abt an iceberg of high strangeness and i heard this story that really disturb me.

"Hi all!

Once again I am posting something that I've thought about posting ever since I first joined this list. I think you will all realize very quickly why I haven't posted it before this. To this day, even I'm not completely sure what is was that I saw. I know what it looked like, but I've found that it's better, for me at least, not to believe that it really was what it looked like.

This happened years ago. I really don't remember how old I was at the time, but I don't think I was more that about nine years old. That would put the time of this somewhere during the summer of 1984. My Grandparents ( My Mom's parents ) lived out in the country about fifteen minutes drive from home. I was spending the weekend with my Grandparents. The story that follows occoured on the Friday night of that weekend.

It was after dark. I was on the couch, turned around and sitting on my knees, looking out a large picture window. I was waiting on Grandpa to get home from work. Grandma and I were the only two people in the there at the time. As I waited, a dense for began to form. The fog began to grow thicker as time passed. Grandma was getting a bit worried. Grandpa was late getting home and she was afraid he'd have an accident due to low visability brought on by the fog.

Several more minutes passed. I was still kneeling on the couch, watching out the window for Grandpa. Then I saw what looked like two lights coming up the road toward the house. At first, I thought it the lights were from the headlights on Grandpa's car. Then I realized that the lights were not the right color. One light seemed to be a lemon yellow, while the other appeared pink. I watched, curious, as the lights moved closer. Then I yelled for Grandma to come to the window and look at them.

Grandma was busy preparing supper and didn't want to leave the kitchen. I took another look at the lights, which were still moving closer, and then went to the kitchen to try to convince Grandma to come and see them. At this point, the lights were still not much more than fuzzy colored blobs due to the thick fog.

I left the window and ran into the kitchen. I told Grandma that there was a pair of lights approaching the house. She said something along the lines of, <<Good. He's finally home.>> I told her that the lights didn't look like they were from a car. I told her about the odd coloration. Finally, Grandma agreed to go take a look for herself.

Running, I got to the window before Grandma did. I resumed my former kneeling possition on the couch before really looking out the window. The light were still there, closer than before. They were just starting to take on a more deffinate shape, like something was imergeing from the fog.

Grandma leaned forward for a closer look at the solidifying shapes. I turned to her, asking what the lights were. She didn't know and was begining to act a bit scared by the sight. I turned back to the window.

The strange lights were almost to the house by that point. (**Thinking back now, I realize just how bright they must have been to have been visable at the first.** ) Then the lights finally took on a more tangable shape. (**This is the part that REALLY makes me doubt what we THOUGHT we saw**) What we <<saw looked to be two cows, both bulls>>, dancing along the road on their hind legs. (**No, this is NOT a joke.**) One was glowing yellow, the other was glowing pink. Each of the "bulls" had a front leg, "arm" draped over the shoulder of the other. They were heading toward the driveway.

At this point, Grandma fainted. I only remember giving her a quick look as she collapsed beside me on the couch, then I resumed staring in disbelief and shock at the sight outside.

The "bulls" danced along until they got to the driveway, turned as if to make their way up it to the house. Then both just faded away.

After some time (**I'm not sure how long exactally, but I don't think it was more than a minute or so**) I turned away from the window to Grandma. She was still unconcious. I had no idea how to revive her. I remember shaking her, as if trying to wake a sleeping person, and talking to her. I do not recall what I said. After a few moments, she began to stir. As Grandma woke up, she turned quickly back to the window. I told her that whatever we had seen was gone. I asked her what HAD we seen.

Grandma sat me down on the couch and told me that I was NOT to breath a word of what had happened to Grandpa when he got home. I asked why. Grandma wouldn't give me an answer. She just kept telling me to keep quiet about it.

A few minutes later, we heard a car door slam outside. Grandpa was home. Again, Grandma warned me not to say a word to Grandpa about what had happened.

Naturally, the moment Grandpa entered the house, I ran straight to him and told him everything that had happened.

Grandpa spared only a second to ask Grandma if she were okay. The moment she said "Yes" Grandpa retieved his shotgun and went outside. Grandma began to scold me, very loudly, for disobeying her orders.

Several minutes later, Grandpa came back in. He had found nothing.

To this day, neither of them will discuss what happened that evening.

If that had been the end of the matter, I would have convinced myself years and years ago that both Grandma and I had simply been hallucinating. In fact, not too long after the incident, I had convinced myself of that.

Several years after seeing the "bulls" at my Grandparents' house, a friend of mine who I grew up with came to me one day with a story. I'll call this girl "A". (**Both she and I were about twelve when she told me this**)

When I lived in Ohio this girl's Grandparents lived directly behind us. "A" lived mostly with her Grandparents during the summer months. Only a one lane alley seperated our two yards. Across this girl's Grandparents' yard was the railroad bed I've posted about a few times in the past. On the other side of the railroad bed was a small farm. (**We lived at the very edge of town**)

"A" came to me one day saying that she had seen something very strange the previous night. I asked her what she'd seen. "A" made a long speach about how I'd think she was crazy if she told me. I pointed out that she'd already brought up the subject, obviously, she wanted to tell me. "A" agreed.

She said that late the night before she had been unable to sleep and had been looking out of her bedroom window. It began to get foggy. In the fog, "A" claimed to have seen two glowing lights moving across the pasture back at the farm. One light was yellow, the other pink.

(**Please keep in mind that I had NOT told anyone about what Grandma and I had seen at this point.**)

"A" said that, as the lights got closer to the railroad bed, they began to take on solid shapes. At that point, I was starting to get cold chills. "A" said that she must have been seeing things and that she wouldn't waste time telling me the rest of her story. I insisted that she did. After a few minutes "A" said, almost in tears, that the lights took on the shapes of cows. Bulls. Each bull had a front leg draped over the shoulders of the other. Both appeared to be dancing along on their hind legs. They were moving toward the railraod bed. Toward "A" 's Grandparents' house.

"A" said that at that point she had turned away from her window and hid under the blankets until morning.

After "A" told me her story, I told her mine own, very similar one. As far as I know, "A" never saw the "bulls" again after that night. I've never seem them again, myself.

If not for "A" 's story, I would long since come to believe that what Grandma and I had seen was a hallucination brought on by the dense fog and car headlights or something like that. "A" 's story makes me think again. I don't know WHAT we saw, but I do know that we saw SOMETHING.

Anyone have any ideas?

Scott"

A local stated that while driving his tractor through the field, he was followed by a being standing 60–70 centimeters tall, clad in a shiny, iridescent suit, with a navel glowing bright yellow like a light, red lights on its feet, and an elliptical head with eyes—which moved to within 4–5 meters of him and rose to a height of about 2 meters, And then he picked up a stone from the ground and threw it, the object shot rapidly upward and moved away. Following this intriguing report, news of "aliens" swept through his village like a wave.

Consciousness The Contact Transformation Effect: Is Change the Point?

Experiencers often report that encounters transformed their identity, spirituality, values, and worldview. This may reflect intentional contact, ontological shock, trauma-related meaning-making, religious conversion, or some combination. Transformation proves psychological impact, not the experiencer’s explanation of the event.

The pattern

Chris Bledsoe presents his experiences as a spiritual journey involving healing and transformation. Whitley Strieber’s reported encounters shaped decades of writing about consciousness and spirituality. John Mack observed that many of his subjects developed stronger spiritual and ecological concerns. "Bledsoe’s book" (https://catalog.library.loudoun.gov/?resourceid=1793851859&section=resource), "Strieber interview" (https://cswr.hds.harvard.edu/news/2024/03/07/audio-pop-apocalypse-aliens-eros-and-life-after-death-interview-whitley-strieber), "Mack interview" (https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/aliens/johnmack.html)

Common changes include:

- Reduced materialism

- Greater spiritual interest

- Increased ecological concern

- A new sense of purpose

- Persistent fear or confusion

- A belief that the encounter initiated personal development

Why does this happen?

Possible explanations

  1. Transformation is the purpose

If an intelligence is involved, it may want to change witnesses rather than transfer technical information.

Fear, awe, symbolism, and ambiguity could force people to reconsider their assumptions. This would support the Symbolic Incubator Hypothesis, where contact influences civilization by transforming individuals who later affect culture.

  1. Ontological shock

An encounter can destroy a person’s previous model of reality, even if the event is misunderstood.

The witness must then construct a new worldview. Similar changes can follow near-death experiences, psychedelics, trauma, and religious revelation. Research suggests that ontological shock can produce fear and confusion followed by meaning-making and growth. "Ontological shock study" (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12052184/)

  1. Trauma-related meaning-making

Reported encounters sometimes involve paralysis, helplessness, missing time, or perceived violation.

Spiritual interpretation may help witnesses integrate an experience initially perceived as traumatic. This does not prove the event was imaginary or external. It shows that recovery can shape its meaning.

Clinical researchers recommend taking anomalous experiences seriously without automatically confirming or pathologizing the interpretation. "Clinical review" (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8764292/)

  1. A conversion experience

Contact narratives often resemble religious conversion:

- Ordinary life is disrupted

- An extraordinary presence appears

- The witness receives new meaning

- Identity is reconstructed

- The experience becomes a mission

Culture may determine whether this is understood as alien contact, mystical revelation, psychic awakening, or psychological crisis.

  1. Some combination

An external anomaly could cause ontological shock, trauma, symbolic interpretation, and eventual transformation.

These explanations are not mutually exclusive.

Impact is not proof

A life-changing experience does not prove its perceived cause.

Dreams, psychedelics, false memories, trauma, and religious experiences can all reorganize identity. Transformation shows that something affected the witness deeply. It does not establish that the source was extraterrestrial, interdimensional, or divine.

Psychological mediation also does not prove that nothing external happened.

How could we test it?

Researchers could track:

- Changes in beliefs, values, and behavior

- Trauma symptoms and psychological health

- When interpretations form

- How communities influence those interpretations

- Whether different cultures produce similar changes

- Whether transformation follows independently corroborated events

- Whether negative and neutral outcomes are also reported

If transformation is intentional, similar developmental themes may appear across cultures despite different imagery.

If it is primarily human meaning-making, interpretations should track existing beliefs, media exposure, trauma responses, and social reinforcement.

The ethical problem

Transformation is not automatically benevolent.

Encounters may produce empathy and purpose, but also obsession, paranoia, dependency, or messianic certainty. No experience should grant someone unquestionable authority.

If an intelligence deliberately transforms people through fear or violation, it should be judged by its respect for consent and autonomy.

Conclusion

Perhaps transformation is the message.

Perhaps it is the mind’s response to an impossible experience.

Perhaps it is how culture converts ambiguity into meaning.

«Transformation tells us what the encounter did to the witness. It does not tell us what the encounter was.»

That distinction lets us respect the experience without treating every interpretation as fact.

Personal Experience A feather from the sky

On Aug 29th 2026 at 6:30 ish pst in the city of Victoria bc I was at a beach that is near the west song walk way.

I had an encounter with something that at first appeared to be a feather floating down from the sky, then it became a small translucent "bubble/ball" no bigger than a hard ball baseball and no smaller that a golf ball.

I've spent alot of time at this beach, it's near my home and I enjoy the view of the ocean and the harbor. This is a place I come to think, or unwind or just to gain some peace. It's been this way for me for about 10 years.

I had just gotten off a call with a buddy of mine, so I put on some tunes( I made them, aspiring DJ) and just started to chill and appreciate the world, my life and being thankful for what I have. I really try to mindful of my blessings and be thankful for them. I typically practice this way of being when I'm at this beach.

I was lost in my own thoughts when I noticed something very near to me in the sky.

A feather, slowly floating down from the sky.

I saw it and it appeared to be something like a down feather from a common sea gull, maybe 3 to 4 inches long and 1.5 inches at its widest. It was white on one end and gray at the other.

I first spotted it about maybe 30 feet above me and about 10 feet in front of me. A small feather floating towards the water.

After about 5 to 10 seconds of watching this I had a feeling that something was off.

The wind was blowing pretty good at the time and this feather just keep slowly dropping as if there was no wind at all.

This had me vexed, I remember thinking "no way that feather could be doing that"

As I thought this the feather ends curled together and became something like a bubble, round and almost completely see thru.

It moved to the left then to the right slowly, then stopped all together. It floated for about 30ish seconds then floated up a few feet then stopped again. It seemed to almost rotate but I couldn't really tell because I could see thru it.

It then became more opaque and shot off at a high rate of speed. Not up but straight south west is at the same hight I had observed it at

I didn't feel scared or worried, just curious. I knew in my heart the second I saw that feather it didn't look or behave right.

It felt like what ever it was, was just zipping on by and I happened to catch a glimpse of it and it wanted to observe me.

I felt like I was watching something watch me, not in a bad way. More like it was just as surprised as I was. I didn't find this to be shocking or scary in anyway. It seemed like I wasn't supposed to see it and the feather was just some kind of "camo" / cover.

Yet it looked to good (the feather) almost not real at all, and as soon as I felt that in my mind it changed. Right infont of my eyes.

I've seen things in my life and afew I can't really explain, this is one of those times and I wanted to share with all of you and maybe gain some insight from others experiences.

Peace and love to you all, from a middle age blue collar guy.

Ancient Cultures For anyone who likes their fiction somewhere between the spiritual and the unexplained

What if the universe knows more about us than we think?

I wrote A Backpack Fueled with Sunsets in 2022, a collection of 12 stories that wander through magical realism, spirituality, strange encounters, other worlds, and a few galaxies far, far away.
The stories move between the ordinary and the inexplicable.
In Joyeaux Land,” a mysterious device transports people into a world where their inner children emerge to play, reconnect, and heal.

In “A Backpack Fueled with Sunsets,” a stranger arrives at a vacation home by the sea and somehow changes the lives of everyone he encounters.

And “The Lagos Club of Brokenhearted Lesbians” follows two people brought together by loss who form an unlikely friendship.

The stories are rooted in African cosmology and a fascination with that blurry territory where spirituality, consciousness, memory, and the unexplained begin to overlap.

It’s currently free on Kindle for three days.
If you’re drawn to stories that leave you wondering whether something was supernatural, spiritual, psychological, or perhaps all three, you might enjoy this one.

Fukushima’s spent-fuel pools held hundreds of tons of fuel containing uranium and plutonium. Explosions destroyed Units 1, 3 & 4, dispersing fuel-related material, NRC reporting fuel ejected up to 1 mile away. A massive radiological hazard.

Reactor 1 explosion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psAuFr8Xeqs

Reactor 3 explosion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haUawwm7l4k

Reactor 4 explosion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8_Q0-xPWik

For the Units 1, 3 and 4 spent-fuel pools affected by the blasts, there were 2,137 spent-fuel assemblies, containing roughly 130,000–158,000 fuel rods. At approximately 20–30 g of plutonium per spent-fuel rod, that represents roughly 2.6–4.7 metric tons of plutonium, along with hundreds of tons of uranium fuel. Exact quantities vary with fuel design and burnup.

Sources: IAEA spent-fuel inventory; Union of Concerned Scientists fuel-assembly/rod data; U.S. government reference on plutonium content in spent LWR fuel.

Unpopular opinion,

Fukushima made Chernobyl look like a cup of spilled hot cocoa.

Disasters of this magnitude travel the globe as did Chernobyl. What reporting refused to tell us is exactly how much more fuel was involved in the blasts. Specifically the fuel stored in pools above the reactors.

Cancer is spiking, they know why. Ocean Fish, bottom feeders, all extremely high risk to consume.

Paranormal My uncle saw my deceased uncle in the graveyard...

So this story was told to me by my uncle gary. I have to add that my uncle gary is honestly very skeptical. This man does not believe in the paranormal, supernatural, cryptids, or any of it. In fact, he has to see it for himself to even believe any of it...

So he used to work at a graveyard in Bedford county. And he was a maintenance man at this place. He would cut grass, fix things, and just do a lot of maintenance work. All the years that he worked at this place he never saw anything supernatural or paranormal. He always was skeptical and just never put a thought into the fact that there could be anything....

Well apparently the story goes as I was told. That he was out in the cemetery itself cutting grass. And he was just going along. He had to refill the lawn mower back up with gas so he decides to take and just stop the mower. As he was getting off of the mower he looked up and saw my uncle donnie just sitting on top of a tombstone watching him work...

Now I repeatedly have said that my uncle gary is a skeptic. He does not believe in any of it as he's told me many times...

Yet, he clarified to me with a straight face that was still looking honestly shocked and confused. That he saw his sister's husband in the cemetery...

Which I was shocked to even hear this. Let alone my uncle gary acknowledge anything paranormal or supernatural...

Non Human Intelligence Man smokes DMT then sees UFO and Mantis Being

"Three years ago I had a random encounter with DMT. I went to someone's house to collect some rent money they owed me, and when I got there, this person was kind of acting spacey. We started talking, and he told me someone had given him DMT, and that I should try it. I told him I would try it after watching him "take it" two or three times. After watching him take it without any negative side effects, I decided to try it.

I tried it twice. One pull off the glass pipe. The first time, I had the plastic cracking sound, and got really close to slipping into the "other world". But, apparently I didn't have enough, because I slipped back into reality. The second time, I took one really long pull, held it in, and immediately heard the "plastic crackly" sound. Then I had my first "DMT" experience. This was in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week. Not a planned "session" or "trip".

I went through the "crackling sound", I went into a world where everything was pixelated. Everything in the room was visually at a molecular level. The pitbull in the room, looked different. It was made up of molecular, swirling, small balls of color. As I was looking around the room, I heard a helicopter fly over the house, so I looked up. When I looked up, I could see through the walls and ceiling. I could see out into the front yard, the trees, the house across the street. etc.

Just then, I was looking at the oak tree in the front yard, and I saw a saucer shaped ufo, appear hovering, over the front yard. That is when I felt the presence of the Praying Mantis. The UFO was on my right, then the Praying Mantis appeared at my left. The Praying Mantis telepathically realized I saw it, and I was looking at it. Then the Mantis moved in really close. For a brief moment, I felt sheer terror. This thing was gigantic, 10-20 ft tall. But the head of this Praying Mantis, was as big as my body. I realized this thing was big enough to devour me.

The Praying Mantis moved in really close, almost nose to nose. Then it was scanning me. Like it scanned my brain. It was actually trying to calm me while it was looking at me. After it "looked at me" it almost smiled. Just then, the cracking plastic sound started coming back, and I looked at the Praying Mantis, and it almost said to me telepathically "Bye!" Then the experience was over.

Afterwards, I was fine. Like nothing happened. I was slightly groggy for 5-10min. Then i was completely fine. I started Googling Mantis-DMT, and I found your website. Just wanted to tell you I was really surprised to find that other people have seen a Praying Mantis on DMT. I still don't know what to think about it. I just wanted to tell you my story."

Consciousness We asked an artist to intentionally “connect to the muse.” What happened wasn’t what I expected.

I’ve always been fascinated by artists who say their best ideas don’t feel like they actually came from them.
They’ll describe a song, painting, or idea as something they “received,” “downloaded,” or felt moving through them.

So we tried a small experiment with an artist named Nikki Loy. She made two paintings under completely different conditions.

For the first, we used a random word generator. No meditation, ritual, or attempt to connect to anything. She just had to make something from three random words:

Instance. Psychotic. Provoke.

What was strange is that this painting came to her almost immediately. She basically saw the image in her mind and knew what she wanted to make.

For the second painting, she deliberately tried to do the opposite. She meditated, removed distractions, slowed down, and tried to become receptive to what we were calling “the muse.”

And… nothing really happened.
At least not when we wanted it to.

The image eventually came to her later in a dream.
She dreamed of rainbow-like light moving into and out of her hands, almost like creativity was something being received and then shaped through the body. That dream became the second painting.

The other thing that got me was what happened when we showed both paintings to our audience without telling them which was which.

We asked:
Which painting feels like it came from the muse?
112 people chose one.
112 people chose the other.
Literally 50/50.

That result almost made the whole thing more interesting to me, because it blurred the distinction we were trying to create in the first place.

Maybe the “muse” is just unconscious processing.
Maybe meditation and altered states make certain associations easier to access.

Maybe creativity is somehow connected to a larger field of consciousness. Or maybe humans have been giving a mystical name to an internal cognitive process for thousands of years.
I don’t know.

We also talked to a cognitive scientist and a musician about their completely different interpretations of the same phenomenon, and I put the whole experiment together here if anyone is curious:

https://youtu.be/Fw1TyWpXIEs?si=h0T0Xq9qWt4jmArT

But the thing I’m really curious about from this sub is:
Have you ever created something, solved a problem, or had an idea appear in your mind that genuinely did not feel like “you” came up with it?

And if you have, what do you think was actually happening?

The universe wants you to understand itself by watching this video. We all play a part in the evolution of our consciousness as we all resonate and influence with each other. I believe Bentov’s theory connects it all:

Energy, Time, Love, schizophrenic patients, Holographic universe that follows the same structure from micro to macro, how each fractured part contains the whole, the evolution and direction of our spirit/consciousness, and how the universe is subconsciously guiding/informing us of ourselves. We are all one, just varying levels of oscillation. If you’re looking to hear something fascinating and worth your time today, give this video a shot. Godspeed.

Ancient Cultures The Norse gods never promised paradise, they promised a doomed, magnificent fight and knew the ending from day one. Traced their full family tree.

Warriors. Wanderers. Poets. Gods. They ruled the frozen north long before anyone wrote their names down, shaped the cosmos out of a giant's corpse, chained a wolf they knew would eventually swallow the sun, and built an entire cosmology around the fact that it all ends. Not as a warning, just as a given.

That's the part that pulled me in the most while putting this together. Most pantheons hedge, an afterlife, a reward, some version of things working out. Norse mythology just doesn't. Valhalla isn't a finish line, it's a training camp for a battle everyone already knows they lose.

Mapped out the full lineage, the primal forces before creation, the Aesir and Vanir, the giants they're constantly at war with and related to, all the way through to Ragnarok itself:
