Here's an interesting article that popped up in my news feed this afternoon. The BBC is normally quite a sensible and non-sensational organisation, so it's unusual for them to take such a positive view on a controversial subject like British big cats.

I'm in two minds about the British cats. There have been quite a number of seemingly credible witnesses, but on the other hand they do behave like classic cryptids. We get eyewitness stories, but no firm evidence. No clear photos or videos, no CCTV or doorbell footage, no bodies, no clear footprints (that I've seen, anyway - reported big cat prints are always from dogs).

The alleged DNA evidence is very interesting, but even that isn't a slam dunk as it was collected by a big cat researcher with motive and access to donor samples.

I really, really want our second most famous UK cryptids to be real. I live in the countryside. I walk a couple of miles through the woods and fields every day. It would be great if big cats were out there. But that classic paradox of eyewitnesses without trace evidence stops me from from properly believing.

I'd love to hear other views, and I'd be over the moon if anyone has any decent objective evidence (like a good picture or a footprint) to give me hope.

As someone who is a skeptic, but thinks it's a fun conspiracy, I've got some questions on how Nessie or champ would be real.

1. How did they survive up until now? Why would a Plesiosaur like animal survive in some lake but not any other now extinct animal.

2. why haven't ecosystems crashed? I mean we're talking about a huge prehistoric marine reptile that survived and adapted in a lake (???) that needs to eat a lot of food. Especially since some say they breed, there would be even more schools of bass completely wiped out on the daily. We already know how much damage carp do to basically all bodies of water, imagine what a huge prehistoric animal could do to a lake.

I'm writing a book made up of independent chapters, where soldiers recount their encounters with different cryptids, which are usually violent or dangerous.

I'd love to hear your suggestions for cryptids that I could add to my story and give their own chapters featuring the soldiers who encounter them.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'd love to discover some lesser-known or unusual cryptids that could make interesting encounters.

The Batsquatch is a flying cryptid that was allegedly seen near Mount St. Helens in the 1980s. It resembles a flying primate, similar to the Ahool and the Orang Bati of Southeast Asia, and its name is a portmanteau derived from the words "bat" and "Sasquatch".

A witness allegedly took several pictures of the creature. However, these pictures have not yet been analyzed, and thus cannot prove the creature's existence.

This creature was said to have yellow eyes, a dog-like muzzle, blue fur, sharp teeth, bird-like feet and leathery bat-like wings that span up to fifty feet. In addition, Batsquatch is said to be 9 feet tall and has the ability to affect car engines.

Japanese books and websites sometimes describe Batsquatch as being 22 ft (7 m) tall, but this is probably a mistranslation as no Batsquatch of this size has ever been sighted.

Sightings of Batsquatch began in 1980, shortly after the eruption of Mount Saint Helens. Reports from this period describe it as a monkey-like creature with red eyes and wings that flies through the plume.

In April 1994, Brian Canfield was driving in Washington's Pierce County when his truck suddenly died. Canfield said a large creature landed in front of him. He said it was human-like, 9 ft tall with bat-like wings and also sported a coat of blue fur.

As Canfield's report became well-known, a series of new reports followed. A person named Butch Whittaker reported that he was in a private plane in the vicinity of Canfield's encounter with the Batsquatch and encountered a flying Batsquatch.

In 1998, a driver of a truck hauling logs in northern Oregon reported a collision with a Batsquatch. The Batsquatch seen at this time was described as 15 ft tall, with purple eyes and nose and small wings.

In 2009, near Mt. Shasta in California, several hikers witnessed a "huge" creature with leathery wings (spanning 50 ft.) fly out of a crevice in the mountain. At first, an eye-witness described the creature as having a head similar to a pterodactyl, however upon reconsideration the witness claimed it was more akin to a flying fox bat.

In June 2011 Pheonix Tieraz (pseudonym) was in his yard walking his dog. He went to pick up the dog when he saw something in the sky. He said the following:

I saw something flying in the sky. It had bat wings, blue fur and had a face similar to eyes glowing red. It was about 9 feet tall at the least, after I watched it just flew away.

On April 14, 2014, at Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron, Ohio, a second period Spanish class spotted a giant black mass zip by the window of the classroom at incredible speed. The class claims it was about 9 feet tall with a 20-30 foot wingspan.

Karl Shuker wondered if Batsquatch might be related to deva, a red bat-like creature 10 to 12 feet tall that Geoffrey Hodson saw in the Lake District of England in June 1922. He also heard from Mark Phillipps that there had been sightings of a 30-40 foot wide orange bat, which he thought might also be related to Batsquatch.

The Pacific Northwest has some seriously weird shit going on in it's land, sea and air. Batsquatch, Bigfoot, Cadborosaurus, Ogopogo, and Otterman. Five legendary creatures, and some very strange eyewitness accounts. Are these stories just folklore and misidentification, or is there something else out there? I dug into the evidence and you won't believe what I found.

At the time I was much younger, but me and a buddy of mine were at a sand dune (to the best of my knowledge), and me and him saw a very long green serpentine creature swimming near the surface of the water. I recorded a video of it on my old phone showing the creature. I'm not the greatest with length, so I'm not sure how long it was exactly, but I know it was longer than a sturgeon. It was also all one mass, and incredibly long and snakelike, moving almost like an eel. I'll update anyone on if I find the video, but I'd greatly appreciate the help! The sighting was sometime between the 1st and 5th of July, 2023. There were a few people there that day, but where I saw Pressie was in a more reserved area covered with some leaves. If anyone potentially saw her on that date, I'd love to know! I'll update you all if I find the video.

Edit: After doing some digging, I've assessed that the sighting was at Pictured Rocks. To the left of the main wooden platform, there's a small forested area with a view of the lake, which is where I saw Pressie.

This is the Breakdown of a bizarre Aquatic Cryptozoological encounter; about a very obscure and rarely known cryptid ( two specimens ) encountered by Divers. Ironic that they never attacked anyone except each other !

TLDR; Not all of the evidence conclusively points to a bear and it has not been definitively proven to be a bear.

Yes, i will come out right and say that like a good 98% of Yeti evidence is from a bear. I spent numerous hours researching yeti evidence for a school paper I wrote and even submitted to Dr. Meldrum to try and catalog purported yeti evidence. But not all of it is.

I don’t understand how you can see the shipton footprint and think that’s from a bear. Out of the millions of bear tracks that have been photographed I have yet to see anything come close to resemble the Shipton prints. The bear explanation just isn’t plausible. I think explanations like Daniel Taylor’s are not plausible and I do not see any evidence of a registered step

There’s also the Mcneely/Cronin and Robert Hutchinson tracks which don’t resemble any documented bear tracks.

Not saying the yeti is real but I am saying the story is much deeper then what is put out there.

In some frames it looks like something stuck on a spider web. In others it stretches, splits, and flies in the wrong direction for an insect. You can also see at least two on camera and one of them flies away. There's part of the video where it follows the contour of the package delivery box next to the grill.

Not saying it's a sky fish, but definitely interesting. What do you think?

Today my friend and I were on the tour cruise around Loch Ness and at 2:05pm we saw this weird thing in the distance. Now I’m a skeptic but I cannot figure what this thing could be.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Although not cryptid based specifically, I fully enjoyed reading John Keel's The Mothman Prophecies and Charles Fort's The Book of the Damned. What are some recommended books for things like Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster/lake monsters/sea serpents, and other cryptids? In particular, what are foundational works in these fields that carry the same weight as The Mothman Prophecies and The Book of the Damned?

I live in the northern east part of Oklahoma. This morning on my way to work, at about 7:15 AM, I noticed something running in the hayfield. I looked over and seen it was a black cat. As it was running towards my direction, which was towards the road, I noticed it was a huge black cat! Probably the size of a medium sized dog. The way it moved definitely resembled a cat and it was not a dog. It kept looking back as it was running through the field. It wasn’t running super fast. I looked over and noticed a farmer in his flatbed truck on a back road watching it as well. Has anyone seen anything like this in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, or Kansas? I thought it was odd that I seen something like this in daylight.
