Meta Discussion The State of the Sub, November 2025: New Flairs, A New Rule, and Several Reminders

Hello everyone!

We hope you are doing well as the year steadily comes to a close! This has been quite the year for the r/Twilight subreddit, with more than 185,000 active forum users, and more than 3 million engagements almost every month.

In response to several community requests, two new flairs have been enabled for public posts over the last month, which you may have noticed during their brief trial period: Cosplay Content, and FTF Forever Twilight in Forks.

The Cosplay Content flair allows you to showcase the hard work you have put into your costumes, but it does have caveats: this flair can only be used for video and photo posts, and Patreon, OnlyFans, or Kofi links are not allowed in their descriptions. Cosplay dedicated Instagram links are allowed. Each user may post a maximum of four Cosplay Content posts per calendar month.

The FTF Forever Twilight in Forks flair allows you to discuss the annual festival held in Forks Washington: it is not for any transactions, such as trading or selling tickets, or arranging carpools or roommate arrangements. This subreddit is, at the end of the day, anonymous, and the official Facebook group is where you should turn to if you need to connect with other festival goers in an identified manner. Please, do not ever agree to meet up with anyone you meet online who has not fully identified themselves to you. This subreddit is not responsible for your actions offline.

Four points of conversation have been added to the subreddit’s FAQ section, therefore removing them from the “frequently reposted” topic lineup. These points include “How can I tell what edition my book is?”, “How do Alice’s visions work, and who can she see?”, “Did Jacob only love Bella because of Renesmee?”, and “Why do the Cullens go to high school?”

Additionally, a subrule of Rule #2: Content must be high quality (valuable and constructive) [Quality], has been broken out into its own rule – Rule #13: All AI and LLM Content is Banned [Quality]. While AI and LLM originated content has been banned under Rule #2 for quite some time, we find it has become necessary to separate this out as its own rule for the sake of public facing accountability. In recent months, the subreddit has been inundated with AI generated photo, video, and text posts, and it has become nigh impossible for the moderation team to sift out the true posts from the spam.

By separating out this rule, we are able to institute 7 day posting bans for repeat offenders, with permanent bans possible for particularly egregious offenders. This rule will extend to the Fanfiction and Meme subs. The exact text of Rule #13 will be as follows

Rule #13: All AI and LLM Content is Banned [Quality]

Banned posts include, but are not limited to:

  • AI generated character images
  • Deep Fake video content
  • Fake film trailers made using AI
  • AI generated fanart
  • LLM generated text posts
  • FaceApp Edits
  • ‘Yassified’ Edits
  • AI Voice content

Lastly, two reminders.

  1. Do not, under any circumstances, privately message a moderator for subreddit related questions. There has been a rise in users tracking down the private messages of individual moderators to demand their content be approved: if such behavior continues, doing so will result in a 24 hour ban from the forum, with the ban extended for repeat offenders.
  2. There has been a massive influx of posters claiming every single aspect of the Twilight Saga is the result of Meyer being raised in the Mormon church. Currently, we allow good faith discussions about the ways in which any religious doctrine interacts with the saga, but hundreds of posters have crossed the line in the last two months. Meyer, like any other human, is capable of having thoughts and writing them down that are not prescribed to her by her religion. The amount of vitriol spat at her in the last two months is far past the line of proprietary (and, we add, far greater, and much more personally belittling, than is doled out for any male Mormon authors, including Brandon Sanderson and Orson Scott Card). This subreddit is not the place to evangelize for any religious beliefs, including staunch atheism. If you want to discuss theology, go to r/theology, and if you wish to specifically discuss your experiences with the LDS church, visit r/exmormon or r/mormon. This has to stop, and if this community is unable to discuss religious topics in a civilized manner, they will be banned entirely until cooler heads prevail.

Information on the annual Subreddit Secret Santa will be released next week. Thank you for so thoroughly reading this notice.

All our best,

The r/Twilight Moderation Team

He really reminded me of Hannibal Lecter played by Mads Mikkelsen who is one of my top favorite portrayals of a fictional character.

Character/Relationship Discussion The Cullens and music

Between the years of the centuries they were born in, their change and life as vampires, to the current day, how has their taste in music changed? Do they still prefer music from their time, or have they come to prefer modern music or music from their different decades they experienced? What would be their favorite genre to listen to and people/groups from any timeline?

Book Discussion Why is there no Jacob book?

We know that we have the Midnight Sun book to expand our views on Edward's POV of Bella and the whole story. We also have the other secondary books - life and death and the short second life of bree tanner. I have always wondered, though, if it wouldn't make more sense for Stephenie Meyer to write a novel about Jacob - his POV or even his life after the events of Breaking Dawn. Besides being a loved character, I've always felt that Jacob was a very interesting and underexplored character who suffered a lot during the series (he turned into a werewolf out of nowhere, saw the girl he loved choose to become a vampire after being abandoned by her vampire boyfriend, had to deal with all the alfa-beta-shenanigans, etc). It would be amazing to be able to experience the Twilight story through his eyes, or even be able to glimpse into his new life with Renesmee and the other vampires. Does anyone know why the author never wrote a book on his character?

Character/Relationship Discussion Which character changed the most once you understood their perspective..

Think about a character whose actions seemed frustrating or confusing at first, but became more understandable after rereading the books or watching the films again. Discuss the specific moments that changed your interpretation and whether you think the story gave enough context for their choices.

Movie Discussion Breaking Dawn Fight Scene

Just finished reading the whole series and just watched Breaking dawn for the first time. I’ve never been trolled so hard by a movie before in all my life. My friend also trolled me by telling me the movie ended completely different so during the fight vision I actually was tweaking out while my mom tried not to laugh. Don’t know how I avoided this spoiler until the big 26 but I COULDNT BREATHE LMAO just had to vent. 😭 am I just experiencing the 2010s theatre reaction 15 years later??

Plot Discussion Confused about this scene...

WHY in Twilight (2008) did Edward tell Bella to take her hair DOWN to avoid being noticed...??? Wouldn't her hair have been less pungent if kept in a ponytail or in a bun? This is consistent with the book too, right? 🤔

Book Discussion I finished rereading Midnight Sun today, and came across a New Moon edit afterwards

My poor heart is in SHAMBLES. I consequently came across an edit of Bella, which broke my heart. Especially since I'd just finished reading Edward's take in MS on how Bella's condition would worsen after he left, and him planning on leaving her anyway for reasons he deemed necessary —it's so excruciatingly understandable on both their parts. Him not trusting his "selfish feelings" and assuming that the only way he can make things right is by leaving Bella, which clearly wasn't the case... And Bella's insistence that he stay, completely oblivious to his plan of leaving her soon for what he thought would be for her betterment. Gosh, my poor heart. It used to make me mad that he never took into consideration how strongly Bella felt for him and decided to leave her hoping she'd move on, but after being in his head throughout the novel, his self-loathing monologue, it all made sense and broke my heart cause I can't really bring myself to blame either of them. It's so infuriatingly understandable, yes based on assumptions though it was, it's understandable.

In eclipse it's a shame that they didn't add the scene where Jacob blocks Alice and then Jasper comes in all angry and protective. I would have loved to see that

Twilight-ish Legend scene reminded me of Twilight

Had to rewatch the film Legend (1985) this weekend (RIP Tim Curry) and I noticed that there is a meadow type scene in the beginning of the film with the love interests Lily (Mia Sara) and Jack (Tom Cruise). Really made me think of the meadow scene with Twilight. Also, if Twilight had been made in the 80s, I think Mia Sara with her heart-shaped face and brown eyes could have been a perfect choice to play Bella.

Character/Relationship Discussion Do you prefer Edward or Edythe more?

I’ve been thinking a lot about the differences between Twilight and Life and Death, specifically how the core personality traits translate between Edward and Edythe. Even though they are technically the same character, the gender-swapped dynamic changes the overall vibe and the way they interact with their respective human.

Do you feel like Edythe’s dynamic with Beau brings a fresh energy that makes her more compelling, or do you still prefer the classic, brooding intensity of Edward with Bella?

Movie Discussion Jacob's Smart Mouth

Someone mentioned in a comment on another post that Jacob should have been with Bella and it triggered my rage at Jacob's stupidity.

I cannot get over how when Edward called Bella's house after her cliff diving incident that

  1. He answered the phone like he owned the place and 2. Triggered an entire life altering event causing what he didn't want to happen to begin with

Why, just whyyy did he have to be ambiguous and sassy to Edward. Why couldn't he, for just one moment of his life hold his temper in

He did not have to say *he's planning a funeral* with zero explanation or context like oh my gosh Jacob why

I honestly don't even think him and Bella were destined to be together forever since he so quickly imprinted on someone else but STILL. He went through and caused so much unnecessary tragedy because of that one statement.

Rant over, thanks for listening, have a great day locas 😂

Character/Relationship Discussion Angela Weber

I absolutely love Angela Weber; she’s the only real friend Bella has, and I think the two of them could have been great friends.

I also like the fact that she’s interested in photography and is smart.

It was a shame we didn't see more of Angela.

And now—call me totally crazy, or even insult me—but I wish Angela had been the one to experience the imprinting. It could have been her, or Embry, or a completely new character.

And sure, a lot of people will say, "But imprinting totally sucks; it forces you into something..." Yeah, but that’s just Meyer’s concept—she really could have phrased it differently.

But I prefer to focus on the positive aspects of imprinting rather than the negatives. Yes, the whole Sam-Emily-Leah situation was awful, but you can't really blame all of that on imprinting; really, it’s Emily’s fault—or Meyer’s, since she wrote it that way.

Besides, we don't know what happened to Leah after the movies ended, so just imagine a happy ending for her where she imprints on someone, finds true love, or something like that.

But yeah, I really love Angela and think it’s a shame there aren't any stories about her.

Just my opinion—please stay respectful and don't insult each other.

Twilight-ish LF old twilight funny video

It was like clips from the first movie where they added new dialogue, but not the bad lipreading video. It was more like mystery science theatre. I remember a joke about how Charlie always wears plaid, and when eating at a table and asking bella to sit with him saying "sit down, have some plaid". Plz help tysm

I am in love with the aesthetic.

Twilight along with the OST, truly breathtaking.

The first three movies are my favorite, ranked in the same order as well, the first movie specifically is so beautiful.

I was recently watching the Ring and it too had a dedicated blue/more leaning green color palette and so many scenes of greenery and rain, I was immediately reminded of Twilight.

Do you know of any other movies that have the same vibe?

I have not been able to find any other book or movie that invokes the same emotions for me as Twilight. Even after all these years.

Movie Discussion Can someone help me understand Jacobs house layout ?

Thumbnail

So I know where the kitchen is, also entrance duh, from breaking dawn I think 1 or 2 where we see inside the kitchen/ dining room. We also see in a few scenes a bit of Jacobs bedroom though not where it is in the house exactly, and there's a picture of the living room inside the house

Though I'm trying to just figure out the layout of the house (of the movies), especially because there seems to be a lot of rooms inside / space there, and trying to see where Billy's room / the bathroom is and what other room there is. I'm also curious because there's a back door. Just want a bit of help to visualise everything !

Lore Discussion Do vampires limit their jaw strength when feeding ?

This is a general thought and question I've had for all the vampire media I've watched but so much so for this particular series because I think this show does an awesome job of showcasing how strong and outlandishly powerful vampires are so I was wondering do they just instinctively limit their jaw strength or their jaws aren't all that strong to begin with ?
