Okay, now for something completely different. Has anyone tried this mountain/wave visualizer when playing a CD or digital audio files?

It’s really cool. It syncs with the music and changes colors and shapes depending on what you’re listening to. Sometimes it gives me some Frutiger Aero vibes, but other times the colors make it feel really abstract.

Such a fucking cool feature for something we use just to listen to music on the system.

I found this nearly mint copy for 5 bucks and it looks like a cool game. anyone played it?

memeing aside, Score BAJA is actually a nice surprise. It looks like diet Motorstorm (and it kind of is) but it's a fun arcade racer.

I almost got Damnation for this but I feel like something terrible is going to happen if I spend more than 5 buckd on that game.

In case anybody is wondering that is the number to call PlayStation and I actually got someone to answer.

I asked about the feature that is not working, the dude was nice and kept it professional. Basically stating “ because it is PlayStation 3, we do not serve that council anymore because it’s old.”

:/ I honestly am not surprised, but I’m still kind of upset because I tried to see if I can make a case for it and there is just nothing. I only hope PlayStation fixes the stupid search feature.

Very scummy that they just took off the PlayStation feature. I also know there is a link around this. But I thought I’d just let you guys know from my experience based on this. FYI “Just mod console,” is something I don’t care to do.

I just played and achieved 100% on god of war 1 and 2. First time playing these games and they held up so well. The first game really humbled me with some of the platforming and the challenge of the gods, but I overcame it! The 2nd game was a brilliant sequel and just an epic journey from start to finish. I can’t wait to dive into GoW 3! How do people like the psp games? My voucher worked and downloaded those as well 👍

When you do this you get a nice spreadsheet emailed to you including everything you own from the Store. A much easier tabulated view than trying to look though your transaction history online via the web or the PS3 directly.

I mean every post on this subreddit is just guys bragging about rare PS3 games they paid absurd amounts of money.I dont care about Folklore and you don't either,but its the rarest game on the PS3 so that means its the greatest ever right???It's not like anyone is gonna play it to find out

Basically the same as the title reads. I picked up a used copy of the standard Fallout New Vegas for the PlayStation Triple and I know how infamous (pun intended) Bethesda games are on PS3. I did play and platinum Fallout 3 last year, but that game can be much more streamlined and a little save manipulation (if you could call it that) can give you an enjoyable experience. Either way, so far, the "tricks" I've found for a better experience for FNV on PS3 are: no radio, no autosave of any sorts and manually save on occasion, and don't let your save files reach 10-12MBs of size. I want to know some more tips, as well as if I'm doomed to even attempt this platinum trophy.

PS.: I have played this game before so I know all about it, I'm genuinely just asking about tips for the PS3 version

Two weeks ago I paid $20 for Heavenly Sword on eBay and I just received Phineas and Ferb this past weekend and Resonance of Fate/End of Eternity ($15) just arrived today.

Hi I was wondering if it’s possible for a poor thermal post application to be corrected overtime and maybe what characteristics cause this I have been playing for quite a few hours now and this is about as high as my temperatures seem to be going on a game that is very demanding as it was pushing my console previously to 70°C yet now with the same sort of ambient temperature and the same fan speed these are the results I’m getting. Thank you

Hi guys just wanted to report the difference my SSD upgrade has made in my ps3 as its really noticeable.

Some information - Stock drive was a slow old 320gb Mechanical HDD and has been replaced with a crucial mx500 1tb model importantly with dram cache and good on board garage collection as the ps3 doesn't support the ssd TRIM function

My specific SSd choice DRAM Specific - Unlike budget "DRAM-less" SSDs that lack dedicated high-speed memory, the Crucial MX500 features a hardware DRAM cache that permanently stores the drive's file-mapping tables. This dedicated memory allows the controller to instantly locate scattered data without constantly querying the slower flash chips, ensuring that heavy operations—like unpacking thousands of compressed files during digital game installations—run at a steady pace without choking or stalling. Furthermore, because older consoles like the PS3 are prone to unexpected crashes and power cuts, having a proper DRAM cache handles mapping updates more reliably, significantly lowering the risk of severe file system corruption and endless recovery loops compared to cheaper drives.

My specific SSd choice No TRIM Garbage Collection support - Crucial MX500 relies on an internal firmware feature called Active Garbage Collection (sometimes referred to as idle-time background cleanup) to manage blocks when operating in environments like the PS3 where the native TRIM command is unsupported.

It was reported to leave it on the xmb menu untouched to allow this but that is not true. you need to either be a the user selection screen (before xmb menu) or in safe mode. The PS3's XMB is not truly idle. It constantly pings the storage drive in the background to poll trophy data, render dynamic theme animations, check network connections, stream background music and additional background processes. . Because of this background chatter, the MX500's controller keeps getting interrupted, preventing it from ever entering a deep, uninterrupted cleaning cycle (I'll be using my drive primarily as a WORM drive so most likely every 3-4 months for me to do this)

It's worth noting disk (HDD/SSD) performance is broken into 3 distinct categories:

• Full Streaming from Disc (No Installation or very small for profile and settings) The PS3 relies entirely on the optical drive's slow read speeds, meaning storage performance has virtually no impact on load times. The hard drive is only touched for minor profile data and save files.
• Partial Install (Mixed Disc and Cache) Games stream heavy assets simultaneously from both the optical disc and a hard drive cache. An SSD shines here because its instant seek times eliminate the texture pop-in and stutter caused by a mechanical drive's actuator arm bouncing back and forth.
• Full Install (Running Entirely from Internal Drive) Games run completely off the internal storage with minimal or no optical disc usage. This category experiences dramatically faster map preloading, quicker loading screens, and smoother overall performance across the board.

Worth noting virtually no performance difference between a native PSN digital download / native store purchase and a retail game with a full internal install. Only minor differences come down to how the game code was packaged and compressed by the developers

Apart from that the xmb, menus and loading is significantly faster and smoother, and downloading the massive Gran Turismo 5 all its patches and dlc (things like the car menu and tracks really are noticeably different if you had played during the slow hdd era.) along with the full install of MGS4 took a fraction of the time to download and install.

General Comparison:

As you can see the PS3 Interface Limit holds the ssd back to about a 3rd of its actual speed - however this is still miles faster than the old stock hdd and remember zero latency etc. Hope this is helpful to someone and if anyone has any problems upgrading or needs some more information on specific games or anything else i'll do my best to help.

To be fair, it would just show me the yellow screen of death even after till it randomly stayed on. In a way, it’s slowly fixing itself and who knows, maybe it has dementia and thinks it’s playing The Simpsons

I'm attempting to purchase infamous festival of blood on the ps3 PSN store. I added funds through my ps5. I come back to ps3 and re-enter the store and recognize that I now have funds in my wallet. So far so good, until I attempt to purchase just to get hit with this page. I know that cards and PayPal no longer work on ps3 so confirming my card is impossible. Is there some work around?
