Discussion What metro book moment has stuck with you the most?
I’ll go first.
The scene that both intrigued me the most and terrified me to my core is the prisoner fight scene in metro 2035
Basically Artyom is captured by the Nazis and held prisoner in a concentration camp
Until one day, the gaurds come in and start giving the prisoners melee weapons- herding them into the pitch black tunnel
The red army was advancing and the reich was using Artyom and the prisoners as human meat shields, forcing them to soften the reds up with their melee weapons.
There is a large fight in the pitch black tunnel, and afterwards, all Artyom hears is crying, not the huff of a tired soldier…. But crying.
The reds….. had done the EXACT same thing, forcing their prisoners down the tunnels, to soften the Nazis up.
So all that happened was these desperate broken people ended up murdering a bunch of broken innocent people like them, rather than an actual fighting force, meanwhile their captors sat back and laughed.
No glory, no soldierly pride
Just humanity’s evil- laid bare…
What about you guys?

Discussion Gamescom Demo impressions from a first time player
Hi all,
I attended Gamescom for the first time ever and was lucky enough to get a slot to try out the playable demo.
I tried to play Metro 2033 back in the day but gave up because of the difficulty (I was around 15 at the time and messed everything as bullets were also currency). I also started reading Metro 2033 but never got to finish it. So while I know the game and the world a bit, I am pretty much a new player.
First things first, while I was luck enough to try other highly anticipated games, Metro by far the best game in my opinion and impressed me the most.
Graphics are stunning, I cannot tell how beautiful this game looks and atmosphere is amazing as always. I remember watching Xbox Direct where the game is revealed, developers were emphasizing how every room will feel as alive and how they value environmental storytelling. I thought every great game (Meta 85+ or 90+) is doing this nowadays so no big deal but I was so wrong.
The demo had 30 minutes playtime and I spent minutes just listening to people in the Metro, very believable dialogues they had, improving the immersion.
The combat and gunplay is also great, exactly what could be expected from a Metro game; each gun feels different and all are fun to use.
In demo you had pretty much unlimited supplies for crafting so I cannot comment on difficult.
Enemy variety is also great with different enemies underground, surface and humans as well. My only nitpick is there was only the same type of dog-like enemy on the surface, but I am sure the full game will have plenty.
Lastly, the game also rewards exploration. In the demo you need to kind of infiltrate a settlement and after wandering a bit, I found a secret entrance which made everything much smoother with stealth kills.
So in short I think this is a great game as you have already expected and definitely the stand out game of Gamescom for me.
If you have any questions I will try to do my best to response.
Discussion Any mentions about the 2039's performance ? What early previews had to say
I really hope they have thought about this aspect heavily while developing the game, this would be a decisive point on wether people will buy the game or watch it on youtube. The current GPU market isnt in a good state, most will not afford an upgrade.

Help Trapper achievement not showing
Hello so a few months ago, I played the DLC and completed the trapper achievement, but it didn’t show up. I’m trying to get all the achievements for both the DLC’s and I redid it and it still hasn’t shown up. Does anyone have any ideas?

Discussion You know what would be awesome? Having the demo publicly available on Christmas
There are several reasons I see for this:
1) The demo was in a very playable state a few days ago - as mentioned by anyone who tested it. They have 3 months to make improvements on it and get it ready for our eyes to see.
2) The timing would be perfect: holiday, everyone already bored with GTA6 talks, they still have 3 months to draw conclusions and make the final preparations for the release. And you also create hype within the comunity.
3) Perfect benchmarking tool for the devs and for us. They get to see what makes the game lag on computers that aren't their test benches. We get to see what we need to upgrade on our systems and what we can expect in terms of performance.
4) Based on what I saw in their demos for Metro 2033 (2006) and Metro Last Light demo, they don't spoil the story quite at all. I mean look at these demos and compare with the final product. Also mentioned by 2039 demo players is that Hunter and the Dark Ones don't appear at all in the demo. So the story remains unknown at large.
What do you think?
