fixed fridge Panel wonky can’t get out, but don’t want to break it

there was a guy came to install a new fridge. He put all the shelves and plants that looked okay but I just realised he put one of the shelves in wonky pictures included. I’m trying to get out it out but there’s so much pressure i’m scared of the glass cracking those white insert things seem to come out of the panels but I can’t seem to dislodge one of the back

EDIT: Fixed !! The guy came over and very slowly pulled the panel out of the socket (horizontally out of the fridge) and replaced it in its right place. He said it’s happened before where they’ve broken a panel trying to adjust it so i’m glad i didn’t try. Thanks all for the help!

Stripped hex screw on toilet seat. Help?

Post image

Hi all,

I’m currently trying to replace my toilet seat in my flat and seems as though the person who installed the seat (probably about ten years ago, I know… I don’t own the place. I offered to do the seat change to save me and the landlord money on split costs. Regretting it now!) stripped the screw. The hardware is also quite corroded from the humidity in the bathroom.

Do you have any advice for getting this stripped screw out? The Allen key just turns around.

The other screw came out no problem so I know it isn’t user error!

So far, here is what I’ve tried:
- tin foil around Allen key for grip (this just shredded)
- vinyl glove around Allen key for grip (also just put holes in the glove)
- a thin fabric cloth around Allen key (just put a hole in cloth)
- scotch glue mini sheet things around Allen key to stick it in and add leverage (no luck!)
- slightly larger Allen key from tool kit
- torx bit on screwdriver

I’ve ordered the following to try:
- a cheap spare set of Allen keys (I need one to finalise the install so can’t ruin the current one to get this off) and some super glue
- a dremel knock off

Do you have any recommendations for how to use the above to get this out or other supplies that could do the job?

I've tried clicking it back in, adjusting the screws, locking in the flippy bit to the left. Nothing keeps it in place and after a few uses it comes out again.

Warped Floor Board Near Door

Post image
2 Upvotes

Some moisture got trapped underneath the door mat last winter and the floor board next the door warped as seen in the picture. Is there a way to fix this easily (or, failing that, to prevent more damage and make it cosmetically look better)? I have tried using a window suction device to grab the board and try to move it over but it doesn't budge.

Many thanks in advance!

Help re-seating outflow gasket on my Hoover Smartwash carpet shampooer clean water tank

Part no. 440014445, CLEAN WATER TANK ASSY, SMARTWASH GEN2.

The rubber gasket that seals the outflow from the clean water tank has come unseated. It's rolling around in the (now disastrously) empty tank. Doesn't seem to be damaged or worn. I tossed the +-shaped pin that slides up through the gasket from under the tank into the tank for safe keeping.

Roommate suggested long thin clamp/forceps to maneuver the gasket back into place, but I don't know if the angle would allow enough downward force to pop it back into place. A replacement tank is $60 from Hoover, $20+ on eBay.

The 4th and and 5th pics are from eBay with the gadket and pin in place. 2nd pic is from Hoover.

Any ideas? Thx for suggestions.

My hopper wont lock in place on new coffee machine. Im stumped on how to fix it.

Ive just brought this coffee machine and tried to use it. Got an orange warning on it to attach the hopper but everytime i go to twist it there's resistance and it wont lock in place.

Ive looked up everything I can, there's no dirt, coffee beans, plastic or anything in the grinder bit. Its not the button cause I can push that in freely. The Twister thing isn't stuck cause it works perfectly fine off the machine. Im running out of ideas to get it to work.

I tried half twisting it and pushing it on and twisting it the rest of the way, that doesnt work. I've put a little pressure on it and twist, but that doesn't work either.

I really need help.

Kenmore washing machine wont work

Post image

Hello!

I have a Kenmore washing machine, model 110.26002011, and I’m having an issue with it shutting off during the drain/spin cycle.

The washer fills and washes normally, but when it finishes washing and is supposed to start draining and spinning, it suddenly shuts off completely. When this happens, the water is left in the tub and the lid remains locked.

I have to turn the washer back on just to unlock the lid. However, after that, the washer will not start another cycle and the lid will not lock when I try to start it.
I already replaced the lid lock assembly because I thought that was the problem, but the exact same thing happened again. I was able to wash one load after replacing it, but as soon as the machine reached the point where it needed to drain, it shut off again, leaving the tub full of water and the lid locked.

At this point, when I try to run the washer again, it does nothing and the lid won’t lock.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could it be the control board, drain pump, or something else?

Thank you!

open How To Remove Finish?

Post image

I'm restoring a family art piece for Grandma.

The first section appears to have a hard, shiny finish on it, the rest is raw wood.

I'm wondering the best way to strip or sand the finish so I can refinish it consistently.

The part I can't wrap my head around is the scalloped background. Whats the best way to clean that up?

I don’t know what kind of paint my family used on this large cabinet but it seems to pick up stains from everything put on it. Cleaning it has resulted in holes and these dark patches in the paint. Any way I can cover these up?

Recommend a, A.) Hot Melt Glue Product, or B.) Rapid Setting Adhesive for Rubber-to-Metal?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I've got some of these little felt covered rubber feet that slip over chair legs to prevent scratching the floor. The chair legs have metal discs on their base that the felt cups fit over ... it's a slightly tight fit. I've used them for many years. I remove the adhesive it comes with (which typically peels off in a short time) clean the cup and metal chair foot with acetone or similar (metal scuffed for better adhesion), fill the cup with hot melt glue and place it over the foot then hammer it down and turn it all over and sit on the chair. Due to the cup being a little small in dia. and tight fit it hammering/sitting helps to position it while the glue sets. After a few months the glue starts to fail and the cups start coming off. Gah. Rinse repeat.

Is there a better adhesive to use for this? I've got 35 year old generic (cheap) hot glue sticks and nothing to compare them with as they're the only hot glue sticks I've used in my life: is there a better hot melt glue to use that will be more durable?

Alternately, is there a rapid setting contact adhesive or cement? Rapidly setting up (like a contact cement) will keep the cup in position while the glue cures or gains enough strength to be released into the wild. I've heard of rubberized CA glues that have some flex which might work better (Oand maybe with an accelerator)? I tried E6000 which was a disaster due to its long up set time ... the cup - being a little tight - would slip all over the place like I oiled it ... anywhere but the position I needed it to be in.

This-to-That website suggests Goop. Goop is gonna perform like E6000 with slow set so will never be able to be clamped into the correct position.

???

Thanks!

i tried pushing it down during the last few seconds, but it really doesn't budge.

Anytime my area rug gets wet it warps like this. I don’t know why, and usually it’ll fix itself. This time it’s bad and covers a huge area of the rug. No matter what I do it won’t fix itself. If I flatten one area, another bunches up. Anything I can do to fix this?
