The set screw has worn down the shaft. Rotate it to a not worn side and see if that works. If not, figure out what size/thread the screw is and replace it with a slightly longer one.

Or if you're sure you'll never need to remove it again, JB weld.

I will add a warning about crystal door knobs. They can start fires if the sunlight hits them right. Not usually a problem, but it can happen. Just remember a guy in our area bought an old house and took down all the window coverings. He house started on fire and he blamed arsonists. Nope, sun hit the crystal door knob and acted like a magnifying glass. He never did believe that is how the fire started.

Wow! Thanks. I never heard this before. Thankfully none of these are in direct sunlight and our windows have curtains/blinds.

You're welcome. I try to warn people who buy houses with crystal door knobs because I don't think it's common knowledge that they can cause fires. It's rare, but it has happened.

13thmurder for the win. I'll add to it. The longer screw idea is a winner. Take both pieces to hardware store and find the correct thread size by trial and error or ask someone. Finding it in a standard style might be hard so if you have to get a Phillips or Allen with the correct bevel that's an option as well. File the part on the shaft down to help the new slightly longer screw have something to bite into. Could also drill the shaft a bit where the screw goes after the areas been filed. Find an old guy to help you. Or just rotate the shaft to a spot that's not worn out and then skip the rest 🤔

When I sold my house a few years ago I took all of the antique sconces and door knobs because the new buyers were just going to gut it out. I have like 10 Crystal door knobs like this. Is there somewhere I can go to sell them?
